I ♥ Wordbooks

Good morning from me (Jackie), I hope you are all OK on this miserable and windy Sunday morning, it doesn't quite have the same ring to it as a 'bright and sunny Sunday morning' does it lol

The challenge this month was set by Lou and this is her remit
This months Get Funky Challenge is.....
WORDBOOKS

So it can be any word, any theme as long as it is a wordbook!! and..
As always you must use at least one Funky Hand product on your wordbook..:)
(its an easy rule and not much of an ask.)
and here is my wordbook made with the Jingle Bells section of the Twelve Crafters Crafting cd (which is available from the Funky Hand web site www.funkyhand.com)

As you will see from the first page of my book, I have decided to use the book as a mini scrapbook as this is the style I sell most of and as it is quite bright, I have kept my pages very simple. I have done a picture 'how to' on my blog if you want to see how to make one for yourself with Anice's fab Funky Freebie download of a wordbook which can be found on the web site.

So you now have your free word book and my pictorial so what are you waiting for? We only have one teeny, tiny rule for you to stick to which is to please remember that you must use a Funky Hand product on your wordbook. If you don't have a blog then please don't worry, you can enter through our Facebook page.

Thanks for looking and we look forward to seeing your wordbooks. :)

Wordbooks Galore!

Morning everyone, Ni here today and welcome to my post for the current Get Funky! Challenge set by Lou, and its a great one, Wordbooks!!
I LOVE Wordbooks, it was one of the things that first got me addicted to Funky Hand cd's years ago!
They are so versatile as my other funkette teamies have been showing you and today I am sharing a mini photo album idea.......

Don't forget that as well as letters Anice also adds numbers to the Wordbook collections, I love using them to make large cards for landmark birthdays like 18 and 21, especially for male cards which I always find a struggle! ;)

This album uses the newly released Santa Baby download. This download has fab and funky lively colourings and is my new favourite! Don't forget that you can buy this new release as just the papers, the wordbooks or the whole collection!

I have changed my printer settings to print two numbers per page of a4 to give me a mini album which I will use to record our family memories of Christmas Day this year.
For a different type of closure, (and as a bonus way of adding extra pages if you ever need them) I have cut a strip of blue card in a complimentary colour and used it as a back page and spine wrap, I gave it a scalloped edge using a punch and have inked in it a cyan ink to finish it off but you probably can't see that very well in the photo! I have only stuck everything together on the spine so that even the blue back page can be used for photos or journaling. :)

Well that's it from me, I hope you like my make, please join in with us and create your own Wordbooks, Anice has made a fab freebie alphabet set so all you need to do is stick them to strips of card if you don't already have a download or cd.

Thanks for stoping by today. Ni. X :)

Wordbook

Can't believe it's my turn again(Allison)  where are the weeks flying away to!
This months it's Lou's WORDBOOK challenge and I decided to make something a little bit different to the straighforward type of workd book using acetate.

I used the workspace in the Papercraft Factory Twelve Crafters Crafting CD and sized my SNOW letters on this then printed them off.  Measured the size of the letters then cut strips of acetate the same size. I stuck the letters on then positioned the pages and trimmed off the ends and joined them together with some ribbon- Printed off Let It Snow template from the writer and just finished it off with a snowflake.

To help you join in this month Anice is giving you a   Funky Freebie, because you must use a Funky Hand product to join in with us.

Come back in a couple of days for some more Wordbook inspiration

Thanks for joining in with us and good luck

Another Word Book!

Welcome to my turn (Ruth) to provide some inspiration for you for the fab challenge Lou has set this month which is:

Wordbooks

I've made this wordbook using the templates from Wishes and Kisses and based it on my new niece Amy who has changed a fair bit since I made it as she's nearly 7 months old now!  If you want to see the other pages just pop over to my blog!

I simply printed out the letters I required (you can change their colour too!) and then simply layered them up, adding embellishments and ribbons as I went.

If you've never made a wordbook before then you are in for a treat - they are really easy to do and I get a lot of requests to make them too! You can find a video of how to make them on the Funky Hand website. How to make a word book.  The Funky Freebie on offer on the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com for the duration of the challenge is an alphabet collection which you can print off and then make your own word book with the letters!

Don't forget that to enter our challenge you MUST use a Funky Hand product - good luck!

Mr & Mrs Wordbook

This month here at Get Funky the fabby dabby Lou has set the challenge of

WordBooks

I have made this one for a friend to give at a wedding.  I have used the easy peasy lemon squeezy wordbook tab on the Wishes and Kisses cd and the paper collection is Hello Baby.  For me the fact that you can personalise them so much is why I love wordbooks - you could have mr&mr or mrs&mrs if you need to, I bet those kinds of cards are hard to find!

For those who don't have any of the Funky Hand cds or downloads Anice has made a fantastic Funky Freebie so you can still join in.  This month it is a set of letters so you can cut them out and add them to strips of card to make a wordbook.......simples.

As always the prize is the download of your choice, maybe if you've caught the Wordbook bug you can download one of the gorgeous wordbook downloads, there are plenty to choose from and even some Christmas ones (I know I know I'm sorry!!)

Please remember our 1 rule is to use a Funky Hand item on your wordbook

Click on the blue frog to link us to your blog, or if you don't have a blog please remember you can enter through our facebook page

Can't wait to see your wordbooks

New Challenge...Wordbooks...

Phew!! its the 15th September already?!!! it must be time for a new challenge then peeps!!

And this month is a really good one and I think you will all enjoy it too because it is what drew me to Funky Hand in the first place all those years ago and Anice has made the most awesome FUNKY FREEBIE for you all to join in and you don't want to miss it!
This months Get Funky Challenge is.....

WORDBOOKS

So it can be any word, any theme as long as it is a wordbook!! and..
As always you must use at least one Funky Hand product on your wordbook..:)
(its an easy rule and not much of an ask.)

I used the Huge Funky Love download for this entire page. Its awesome because along with the gorgeous wordbook pages you get matching A4 papers too, I used those for the base of my page.
Huge Funky Love downloadable craft word book
Its the best £4:59 I have ever spent.

Then using my corel paint shop pro x on the print layout page I opened and dragged in the wordbook pages I wanted onto an A4 size page layout. I love doing this because mini wordbooks are so much fun. I don't often use 'Word' for resizing but I guess it could do the same job really too. Did you spot it on the layout?! Here's a closer look at the pages...

I added on some little die cuts onto the patterned pages and have left the other sides plain for Mo, Scott and I to journal on when we feel ready.

There are so many ways that Anice's wordbook downloads can be used and I hope my scrap page of my little Mo and Holly has given you some inspiration on how to use them with a bit of a twist.
If you don't have any of the wordbook downloads or cd's with them on,our gorgeous Anice has created a Freebie for you with 4 pages of alphabet to help you join in, simply print them out and attach them to pages to make your own wordbook up. Click on the picture below to take you to the store to get the download!!

Free craft backing papers to download for card making and scrapbooking

I can't wait to see what you all come up with because I love seeing the wordbooks in action. So get busy and add your make in with our little linky below!

Have a great Saturday everyone :)
Hugs Lou xxx

Anything Funky Goes in the Box

Hello and welcome to another Get Funky update.
It's me, Kathy here with my project for our

We started off on 15th August and have been sharing ideas ever since - there's still more to come, and of course the challenge doesn't end until September 14th - the day before the next Funky Fifteenth, so you still have a couple of days to join in with us this time

As the title suggests you can share anything you like this time - as long as you use at least one Funky Hand product - If you don't then your project won't be entered for our monthly prize, which would be a shame as our winner gets to own a fabulous Download of their choice - and theres lots to choose from in the Funky Hand catalogue!
If you don't have any of Anice's fabulous papers (yet) then every month she comes up with a Funky Freebie for you.

This time I've made a folded paper box using the lovely new Funky Hand Download Daisy Day

I used 2 sheets of ordinary thin, A4 card (you can just use paper if you like) chose three of the Daisy Day papers and printed one (which will show on the inside of the box) on both sheets of card.  Next I turned the card over and printed the other two designs once each.
The easy-to-follow pictorial instructions for making the box can be found HERE

To make the flower decoration:
Once the box was done I printed one of the same designs on both sides of a sheet of paper.
In my graphics program I cropped down the largest of the flowers you also find in the  Daisy Day download and resized it so that it would print about 6cms square.
I printed this on card and cut it out, removing alternate "petals"to make a template which I then drew around 3 times on the printed paper.
I cut them out then cut into the centre of the flowers, and removed a bit more of the the inner section

Hopefully this little diagram will help the words make more sense!

Next I coiled each of the 3 flowers up loosely so that they made a sort of cone shape., adding glue to the edges to keep the shapes in place.
I glued the 3 cone shapes onto a punched circle base and allowed this to dry while making some paper spirals from some of the leftover paper.
The spirals were arranged and glued in place on the box lid, then the cone flower decoration was added over the ends of the spirals to finish

Daisy Day is available from the Funky Hand web site for Instant Gratification at the very gentle price of £3.49!

Don't forget to add your name to Mr Linky so we can drop by your blog and take a look at your work and please don't forget that you MUST use something by Funky Hand.
No Funky Hand product = no chance to win the prize

Happy, Funky Crafting

Anything Goes...

I hope you have had a fabulous weekend so far and have had the same lovely hot sunshine where you are as we have had here:)

It's my turn (Jackie) to show you my challenge card today for Lou's chosen challenge of "Anything Goes". Lou set the challenge off with a stunning wordbook on 15th August and as the challenge doesn't close until 14th September there are still a few days to play along with us. We do have one stipulation when entering our challenge and that is that you must use a Funky Hand product. If you don't have any of Anice's fabulous papers (you don't know what you're missing ;)) then every month she comes up with a Funky Freebie for you.

All the papers on my card are from the new download, including the flowers, which can be found on www.funkyhand.com, the collection is called Daisy Day. My only additions were the ribbon which I pleated across the bottom of the green panel and I added gems to the middle of the small punched flowers.
Daisy Day is available from the Funky Hand web site at the miniscule price of £3.49!!!

Don't forget to add your name to Mr Linky so we can drop by your blog and take a look at your work and please don't forget that you MUST use something by Funky Hand. If you don't then you won't be entered into the draw for a free Funky Hand download of your choice and we won't leave a comment on your blog.

Thanks for calling by x

sailing away away because anything goes...

Hey funky people, Its Belinda here. I hope everyone's looking forward to September. The kids are back at school and those warm summer  evenings are drawing to an end.
So when Lou set this months challenge I thought it would be a fun opportunity to start exploring  some of the older CD roms from Funky Hand all of which are available at fantastic prices on the Funky Hand website. Using elements from the Colour Me Happy and Dreams Come True CD roms I created this little number for your inspiration .

Using a selection of  the really nice blue backing papers from Funky Hand  and some of the fun digital stamps I've even added some goggly eyes for a little youthful playfulness.

To join in the challenge all you need to do is use a Funky Hand product whether it's a backing paper, digital image, stamp etc.

If you don't have any FUNKY HAND products then Anice has made a Funky Freebie for you to download, print use and keep, on the website www.funkyhand.com.
Also if you don't have a blog you can still join in with us and enter by posting a picture of your creation on our Facebook page which you'll be able to link to using our linky tool or you can email a picture to us.
So folks thats all from me this month. We are loving all you fab entries and cant wait to see more. Check back soon for some more fun inspiration from the funkettes.
Happy crafting xx

Anything goes using something from Funky Hand.

Morning bloggers, it's Ni here today to share my card for the Anything Goes challenge. This month Lou has taken the challenge right back to basics and you can create anything you like just following the usual Get Funky! rule of using at least one Funky Hand product. So here is my card, in an A6 size, using the Dreams Come True CD.

I will add full details to my own blog of everything I used but I really like the way this card was made using just one A4 sheet all printed from the clever Workspace section of the Papercraft Factory CD's.

I added the geometric backing paper to the grid and filled just over a quarter of the page so there was more than enough to fit my full card base. The floral/distressed paper is one of my favourite designs from Dreams Come True and I covered a slightly smaller grid area with this paper and placed the tree digital stamp, also from the CD, over the top.

You wouldn't want to try and cut that lovely image out with scissors if you had my level of patience! ;)

The greeting is from the writer section and uses the Hobo font, another favourite of mine! Then it was just a case of using some simple matting/layering and a few embellishments to finish the card. I really do like to keep my cards simple in the colour scheme and with uncluttered design, I hope you like it!

Just to remind you there is just one small rule here on the Get Funky Challenge Blog and that is that you need to use at least one Funky Hand product on your creation.  Anice makes that really easy each month by giving away a Funky Freebie backing paper on the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com So, if you haven't got any Funky Hand stash just yet you can still join in and have a chance to win one of the Funky Hand download collections for free as your prize.

Can't wait to see what you create.
