I am currently reading a book about modern day polygamy with the FLDS- "Escape" by Carolyn Jessup. Taunya lent it to me. Now this one is mind-blowing. I have a hard time understanding how someone could live in that lifestyle, but I can figure out how it would be rationalized. Obedience to the husband represents obedience to God. I'm in the middle of the book and she's just had her 4th (out of an eventual 8) child. It will be interesting to see how she actually gets the nerve and strength to get out!

What am I reading?
I love historical fiction. Earlier this year, I read "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It was set in an English village in medieval times and is about the building of a huge Gothic cathedral in the fictional town of Kingsbridge. So, I just finished the follow-up "World without End". Both were excellent, especially if you like nice long books!
Christmas Afternoon 2008
Christmas Day 2008
In the morning, I went to Taunya and Jason's house. We opened presents and ate a yummy breakfast afterward. Taunya made a delicious egg casserole and I brought my famous pull-aparts.
Wyatt opens up some gifts.
Christmas Eve 2008
Everyone came over on Christmas Eve. We had Pork Tenderloin, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts among other things. Afterward, we played Apple to Apple- it was SO much fun and we all laughed hysterically. We are all good at red neck accents as we made up some fun "cool whip" jokes- they wouldn't stand repeating- ya know- you had to be there.
We have a "before" and "after" shot and also the whole group eating. I couldn't resist wearing sandals so my cool Christmas sox would show- I am too cool......

Starting a Blog
Some of us more "mature" people are totally new to blogs. That includes me, obviously. But I was thinkin' maybe it would be fun to try it, even if only 3 people ever look at it! So I am joining the new generation. I even have an IPOD now, which was a big deal to me. Now I listen to my music all the time.
I love reading the blogs of my daughter and my daughter-in-law. It's so fun to keep up with the latest going on in their lives and to see cute pix of my grandchildren. So off we go!
