Halloween Part 3

Our ward joined forces with another ward to put on an amazing trunk or treat, complete with a dj, a mad scientist show, carnival and 3 bouncies. Grace did this slide for literally 45 minutes straight. After a while, she had to mix it up and go down head first.
Lots of treats!
Gabe getting daring.
This was all that was left of her costume after a while. Still gets the point across, I think.

Halloween Part 2

I breathed a sigh of relief when the costume made it through to the last trunk or treat. Gabe insisted I sew it, so I was glad the sleeves didn't fall off or the pants split or something.
Erik tried to convince me she didn't even need the costume to pull off the little devil. I made her wear it for sentimental reasons, though. All but the cape were mine at her age.
The best shot I could get at Ali's fun playgroup.
I am a witch doctor (my hat fell down) and Erik is a college freshman (he had a mustache earlier). We went to a suprise birthday party that was SUPPOSE to also be a costume party. Let's just say we stood out in the crowd.

Time Out...

...for me! This weekend I attended Time Out for Women. I went with some amazing friends and had a fabulous time. It was a great break and a chance to be uplifted.

I didn't take a single picture. At the rate I was going, I was lucky to be out the door with my toothbrush and pj's; the camera didn't make the cut.

So, instead I thought I'd post some little nuggets of wisdom from my notes:

Don't assume you won't like the worst thing that could happen. Amanda Dickson
Watch for moments of unexpected, fantastic joy. Michael McLean
All that's wrong in your life, let it go. Michael McLean
If you never stop trying, you never have to give up! Emily Watts
You are battling with Satan for the souls of your children. Emily Watts
Faith is believing the principle; hope is believing that the principle applies to me. Emily Watts
Comfort zones are not an excuse for not moving forward. Michael Wilcox
Sunsets, or endings, don't plunge the world into darkness; they remind us of the glories of the day until the sunrise comes again. Michael Wilcox
HOPE: Having Optimistic Positive Experiences. Merrilee Boyack
Choose to be cheerful, choose how you react, choose to be faithful, choose to accept suffering, choose to be grateful, choose to let Him bear our burdens. Merrilee Boyack
Don't have a good day, SEE a good day. Emily Freeman

Mr. Hoots

Gabe is in the owl class this year. Every weekend a different student gets to take Mr. Hoots home and then fill a journal with pictures and stories of what they did together. Here's what we have so far.

Erik, Gabe and Mr. Hoots went to the Legend of the Guardians. It's about owls. Mr. Hoots gave it two feathers up.
The movie was followed by icecream at Chick-fil-a. Mr. Hoots enjoyed the playground.
Grace took Mr. Hoots to the local gun show. He was even more scared than he looks.

Utah!

The kids and I had a fabulous trip to Utah last week. Erik was travelling a ton, so we decided it was a good time to head west. My strategy when I go there is to let my parents take all the pictures and then I email them to myself at the end of the trip. This really bugs my mom. Sorry. So, I'm only posting pictures I took with my own camera. Which happened only once at the fountains at the Gateway.

Grace reeeeaallly wanted to get in on the fun, but wasn't quite brave enough. Then, she saw another little one sporting only a diaper and insisted she be stripped down as well. Even then, she could only stand at the edge and think about going in. Perhaps if she lost the diaper as well...
