Yes, this is our child with a binky in his mouth. He never took to it as a baby, but he found one in the drawer this morning and thought it was quite a fun game to walk around with it in his mouth while nodding his head.

The Harvest! This doesn't do justice to the horn of plenty that is Erik's garden, but it's a good sample. He just picked all of this yesterday! We have been lucky to have homegrown tomatoes and peppers all summer. We've made salsa and spaghetti sauce, we've eaten them plain and on our tacos and we've given lots away. And, I don't take an ounce of credit for any of it. We owe our tomato and pepper bounty all to Erik's hard work. Thanks, honey!!!

Look at these two boys. Gabe wants to be just like Daddy! He gets so excited when I say, "Guess who's coming home!" He doesn't just say "daddy" - it has to be "daaaaaaddy, daddy!!!" He recognizes Erik's car and his office building. If he sees either one he gets pretty pumped.

Dueling lawn mowers
This is Gabe's friend Larson. She is a spunky little girl, and it's fun to watch Gabe try to handle it. They don't look too thrilled with each other, do they? Sometimes, Gabe doesn't quite know how to react when someone new comes to play with his toys.

Play dough time. Of course, just as I snap the picture, Gabe decides to see what it tastes like.

Recently, I was bitten several times by the project bug. Erik says I have my hands in too many pots! But, here are a few of my finished (hooray!!!) projects. This was a chair I found at a yard sale and decided to learn how to re-cover. I am absolutely kicking myself for not taking a "before" picture! Try to imagine a dirty, gross burgandy velvet chair with a caved-in seat. That's what I was working with. But, the frame was good, and with a little (or a lot!) of TLC and a few toss pillows, it turned out ok.

This project was quite a bit easier than the chair. My friend, Ali, helped me to make some runners for my kitchen table. They add a nice touch, I think.
This past weekend, we took a road trip to Canton, Mississippi for a family reunion. My mom's side is from there. It was a lot of fun to see and meet our relatives, hear fun stories and see the town. Here are 5 generations of us in front of the property where my grandma was born (L to R: Aunt Gayle, Great-Grandma Exie, Grandma Exie, Mom, me and Gabe)

Two tired boys - 6 hours on the road, plus some hot and muggy weather would make anyone sleepy!
