WIERDOOOO (24/8/07)

Wow.

Today I met this guy who came for an interview for the position of Product Specialist so the boss invited me and Angel to sit in.

Some cool hunk?

Hell no. He is one wierd, introverted, looks-like-a-bian-tai kind of guy. I know I am being mean but seriously! My boss started off the interview asking him about his career interest and stuffs like that, he just stared at us and fumbled with his hands like my boss just spoke to him in Parseltongue or something.

Ok nvm, so my turn to probe and he reacted the same way, like I just spoke to him in Tamil. oh wo de tian! Where got pple come for interview like that one! So that was it for me man. I gave up on him there and then.

But my boss was quite encouraging and continued to probe and explained about the job further. He did manage a few one-syllabic and very discouraging answers like, "i just want to try for the job." (Words deliberately small to indicate his small soft voice.)

The boss didnt give up and gave him a chance to read the product dossier and came back 1 hr later to let him attempt to intro the product to us.

After that, the boss said he was nice, had a good attitude and seemed to be willing to work hard and he was not willing to let such a good person go. OH MY GOD.

He then asked Angel and I to bring him to the staff lounge to demo to him the body language and the need to project our voice confidently when talking to pple then come back again in front of the panel to intro the products again. I went like, "OH SHIT" and went to the staff room to roll my eyes at the rest.

Well, eventually he was given a second chance to come back to 'wow' us again. I was like gosh I cant have this wierdo as my colleague but I reluctantly said yes when the boss asked me if I would give this wierdo a second chance. SIGH. How nobel me. But maybe this wierdo will come back different next week. HAHA. And blow us away. Then I would eat every single piece of cabbage chips Irving made in the food lab. SERIOUSLY.

When we sat down to evaluate him (but seriously whats there to evaluate, he is definitely a no-go man!), the bosses actually had no intention to hire him lahhh! They also think he cannot make it lah so why waste the wierdo's time, my time and their time?

Eh pls, a 24 year old graduate who cant speak well..actually it is not even speak well or not... I dont speak well, but at least I do answer in my best manner when asked a question! What's more at an interview leh! OH PLSSSSSSSSS. He should just go back and play PC games lah. (When asked his personal interests, he said play PC games. Most wierdos do rite.)

Before I finish off with his wierdo, I would like to comment on something he wrote in this CV.

Well, at the end of this CV, he gave some particulars of his parents. Nothing wrong rite?

But then see this.

Name: XXX
Contact No.: XXX
Add: XXX
Relationship: Father
Period known: From birth

AND If he meant to put his parents as referees rite, wah biang eh i seriously dunnoe what to say.

Wierd. Just wierd.

Anyway, I just received the clutch I bought online 3 mths ago. HAHA. I thought like it was gone forever, lost mail, but it showed up today! In my shoe cupboard outside my house and it was my father who found it. I came up with 4 possibilities as to why the clutch was in there.

1) The postman ding-ed dong-ed but nobody was home so he NICELY put the package (cant fit into the post box) into the cupboard, thinking it was a GREAT IDEA just in case the package got stolen.

2) Somebody indeed did steal the package but couldnt sleep for the past 3 mths coz he/she was guilty and decided to send the package back and also think that it was a good idea to put the package into the shoe cupboard just in case someone like him/her attempted to steal it again.

3) My papa said he seemed to have seen the package before so he might have absent-mindedly place the package into the cupboard without realising it.

4) My nephew was playing with the package and decided to put it into the cupboard to trick his yi-yi.

But anyhows, I am soooo glad i got it back coz it is gorgeousssss!!! Cant wait to bring it out! Here is a pikkie of it. (courtesy of buyfromher.blogspot.com)

Nag Day 4 (17/8/07)

Wah biang eh. This morning the moment he came in, he called for everybody to get ready for the Regulatory Officers' presentation in the lecture room. Then before my colleague could even start, he started by saying, "Practitioners listen. Next Monday there will be a written test for all of you ok. It will be graded and the results will be presented to the big boss. In this way, the test can help me and the big boss have evidence to show who is not making an effort." And he went on and on as usual. He even raised his voice and said "DISGUSTING" in a bad tone. HAHAA. I almost wanted to laugh but the atmosphere was freaking solemn. Nobody even dared move an inch or breathe too hard. haha. What a way to start the morning rite. Sigh.

Anyway, after the session, which ended at 2pm, he said i was to meet him in his room after lunch. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha but no lah, not kanna scolded lah. He just wanted to ask me will i be interested to convert my job portfolio to a lecturer one coz apparently, he was quite impressed at my past 2 presentations and wanted me to lecture prob the new product specialists coming in soon. But then i told him i wasnt ready and had lots more to improve and i also kinda reminded him that i havent had the experience applying my knowledge and clinical skills and wont make a good lecturer then. Haha. But anyway, I could think about it but I want to go out to Centrepoint to apply what I have first lah.

Then he presented me with a new assignment. To write a proposal to propose how to divert the traffic towards our new Centrepoint centre! Prob he had the intention to test my capibility as a centre manager for centrepoint so if i fail it he can make me stay in office to lecture. duh duh duh. sians. I have enough at hand already leh, memorising and sorting the info from the past 4 days. ARGH.

It had been a strenuous 4 days man. Especially on my poor little brain. HAHA. My brain doesnt work very fast you know, so i am quite slow in processing information fast. But i had to so i woke up with a headache this morn. Coincidentally, the boss also had a headache this morn which explained partially his bad mood.

Ah well, so there goes my tv/youtubing/online shopping time. I cant believe i have to bring work home to do. I dont find it fair! ARGH!!!

Diamonds diamonds in the sky (16 Aug 2007)

Bling bling bling.

My boss wants us to be diamonds that sparkle in the sky. That is why he has been nagging for 3 consecutive days. I've been wondering, ever since the nagging started, not 3 days ago though, how he has that ability to trail so far off from his main point and then returned back again. Amazing.

Interesting thing though, we were able to get to know our boss alot more through his nagging.

Like, in his free time, he likes to watch movies. Because he knew the name of the director who directed a movie...the movie...i forgot the name lah, chinese one, while he was telling us about how we should look up to succesful people and be motivated to be able to climb to the top like them. The actors who acted in the movies he also can name! He's a movie-buff! There was also once he brought 2 DVDs from his collection and initiated a lucky draw for us to see who would be the lucky one to bring home the DVD. HAHA. One of them was Ong-Bak and the other was Turn Left Turn Right. HAHA. He once even discussed (excitedly) this "Xiang Long Shi Ba Zhang" serial with my colleagues. How cheeeesssyyy!!!

He is into history too. Coz he was able to tell us things about WWII and some chinese tang dynasty thing that i simply cant rmb. Sorry huh, one ear in one ear out wan.

He is into Quiksilver. Coz he has a QS car decal, his key chains are QS and his waist pouch is QS.

He did his PhD with the Medicine Faculty on pharmacology, and he invented Nutrafem which i would describe vaguely, as something that could help women in their menopausal years. He taught at Monash University and he is dunnoe what appointed by the Australian government to dunnoe what dunnoe what lah. And he has a book published and had an Emeritus Prof supporting his new weight management paradigm. blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Impressed? HAHAHA.

Well, i know where is is coming from, coz everything is so new, his concept, the company, the products and he wants it to work, "to be the link between the current medical care system now and the healthcare system." And he is "setting us up for success". haha.

So how did the diamond thing came abt?

Well, coz he was disappointed by (i assume) one of my colleague who wasnt able to ans his ques that was supposed to be the basic concept that we should know. Coz that concept is what brought us in. Ya anyway, he then started to nag loh as usual and he mentioned something like this, "there are right now copper silver and gold, but i believe as these sharing sessions (our training lah) goes on, the coppers would turn into silver/gold, silver would turn into gold/diamond and so on. I would gladly help to polish those who wants to turn into diamonds. But I would not want any mud in our midst." Well, most of us thought that it was directed at my colleague i think i mentioned previously, the one who got rotated out to Toa Payoh. Feel quite bad for this colleague but then he wont have to face the boss everyday anymore.

I thought today i could relag one corner abit coz it was the Practitioners' sharing session with him but i was supposed to sit in too lah coz we work as a team. I had my fair share of stress on monday already coz it was the Product Specialists' sharing session and we had to present to our colleagues the natural colours found in our products. The pdts are good btw!

Anyway, yes as i was starting to sit back abit, my boss said, "Ok, after the Practitioner's have presented their weight management plan for the patient, I want the Product Specialists to come up and pretend you are explaining the products to the patient." We stared for like 5 sec at him then started to fumble for our notes and pens and papers. HAHA. That is how stresssssss it is ok. Then he nominated me to be the first. WTH. Ok nvm, so i went up then started my explanation. In between, he commented and added things that i missed out etcetc and told my fellow colleagues to repeat what he just said. In between I couldnt rmb what really happened, but then he launched into this naggings. He went on and on for over just abit over an hour. And there i was standing in front listening. ARGH.

Thank goodness there was Shirlyn and the UnXpected to relieve my stress man! They played today at a ExxonMobil Concert at Centre Forum. It was so funny, our reaction, when she played Starlight by Muse, coz we were expecting her to play songs from her debut album. HAHA. Then i happily thought there would be more songs other then from her album. But she ended, quite abruptly, after Window. Good things always come to an end real quick! Hope to see her at Wala sooooooon! I LOVE SHIRLYN AND THE UNXPECTED! Though prob not this mth since now is the mth on the Chinese Calendar whereby you're not supposed to go home too late. HAHAHA. I very the ban-tang wan lah sorry!

Oh ya, I went to Arts canteen to makan before the gig and it was quite horrigible. Coz Laksa Niang Tou Fu wasnt available. Then ZL said the dan dan noodle from the sichuan stall was bad so i ordered the preserved veg with pork rice and it was just not as nice as last time. BLEAH.

Oh but it was great seeing my lil cutey, sweetie, handsomie nephew there and he was attracting quite alot of attention to himself coz he kept shouting, well, in those lil kid who cant talk kind of way. HAHA. My sister didnt cook so they came over nus to eat. How wierd rite. HAHA.

Many many things to babble!

Went back to sch that day to wait for xian at KR terminal to take bus down to skateline to get our first pair of skates. Our first pair of skates at HALF PRICE! yeah! haha. We were so determined to get it that we had to call the shop to ask the person to wait for us coz we can only arrive 10 mins before their closing time. hoho. the guy was nice to wait for us and even provided us with good service!

Ok my point is, before meeting xian at KR terminal, I was at Arts. And coz i was early, i decided to walk to the canteen to see whether renovations are done or not. Ok, apparently not but i managed to see a little part of it done up and it seems like quite nice! Miss the laksa niang toufu!

Then i continued walking pass AS6 towards KR, which means i walked through Arts to get to KR. Ok my main point hor, is hor, I STARTED MISSING THE DAYS IN SCH, squeezing the ever-squeezy A1 and A2 to and fro Arts for my lessons, eating the niang tofu and grabbing that choco muffin from the coffee express place after "history and the modern world" module before heading over to src for netball trainings. HAHA. Which i did buy to eat while waiting for xian. siiigggghhhh. is that healthy huh? missing sch, missing this missing that, missing AUSSIE! i cant seem to move on! HAHAHA.

But perhaps it is good to miss things so that you will appreciate good things happening in your life now. Like my bitchy colleagues lah. We are each other's binding force to the company. If not for each other, some of us would have the idea of "throwing the letter" creeping into our minds.

Drastic changes have been happening in the office, some people got rotated out of the office, some kanna shoot, some kanna aimed, some waiting to be aimed and shoot. I have come to realise what my company is going through now was what i/we went through in a certain club. Both were so called managed by a couple and their management skills sucks. No communication of day to day happenings to the rest of the company, they taking long lunch hrs, coming in late and anytime they want, putting on the fake front and saying things that they dont mean it.

Things are complicated but I am glad the rest of us are so bonded and fun. I will miss the people in office when i go over to centrepoint! good thing is i dont have to face the management as much. eew.

-----

Gentlemen are getting rarer and rarer and rarerrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! GOSH!

-----

Freshie = 新鲜的朋友。Inspired by Joel. HAHAHAHA.

-----

I have been thinking for 5 mins, and I think i forgot the things i wanna say. HAHAHA.
So thats it for now.

Changing skin did help hor. I blogged 3 times liao since the change. HAHAHAHAHA.

-----

While editing this entry, I got news from KAI YI (not KAIYI, hahaha!) that Arts canteen will be opening on the 13th!!! YEAIIIIIIIII!!! laksa niang tofu here i come!

No more no more!

Was watching a documentary shot on Animal Planet just now.

It was about marine life in the Pacific and how it was so abundant a few decades ago and the meagre numbers now.

Then I realised, I saw a few of the shots (of a kelp forest with a seal swimming across, of California Grey Whales migrating etc.) before in other documentaries!

So I was like wondering whether these shots were re-used coz wildlife photographers cant get anymore of such shots in the wild or simply 'borrowed' by the producers to be re-used?

I would often think about what my dying wish would be.

It would be to get THAT close (and I meant the kind of closeness wildlife photographers get on boats or better, in the water) to the whales, dolphins and sharks and best to see them in action.

Umm umm umm...

New skin

"Be like the bluebird (ah pong) who never is blue for he (she) knows what singing can do." Yes lah, ah pong is never blue. And when she sings, she wont be blue! HAHA!

Anywaaaaays, I is the fussy abt the skins. Practically none is what i want leh. I prefer not to have the entries segregated by a box or having the entries pop out by "clicking one of the crosses" kind of designs. I would prefer the skin design, the picture, to be spread out across the screen instead of occupying just one side of it. For what sia if your screen is that big and the blog with the tiny fonts occupy one corner. DUH. Though i think if i play ard with the HTML thingy i can change the font size. But you see, i am not so html-savvy. But it was quite fun meddling with those HTML phrases that dont make a single sense to me. hurhurhur.

I did think of moving over to livejournal or wordpress for that matter.

Some of you must be thinking what the heck i bother abt the blogskin when i dont even care abt blogging. HAHA. Welllllll, having a nicer skin will make me want to blog more mah! BLEAH.

Haiya haiya. Will try to blog when interesting things happen ok.

Meanwhile, do enjoy the sites i posted on the left. Especially the girls! HEHEHE!

Lemme introduce my colleagues!

KELLY!

CARENE!

Oh they're both Life Science Honours students! I went down earlier to take photo with them coz we planned to blow up our pic and put in the new centre at Centrepoint! HAHAHAHA. With the pic guaranteed more biz lah!

Without them, I wouldnt have enjoyed my job as much. Kelly and I like to animate a lot and Carene is the more serious one who would bring us back. But she's starting to become more lame too. HAHAHAHA.

Aiyor! Cheers to our TEAM!
