Dancing in the Rain with a Friend

Welcome To Funky Cards

I cannot even believe that it is already the end of the month!  April is just around the corner.  That means as one project ends, a new one will begin.  I must take a moment to thank each and every one of you who took the time to make a card or cards for the "I Feel the Love Project" this past month.  Trinitie will be so happy to receive her box:)  It looks amazing as it begins to fill up with your projects.  You will learn on Sunday who will be receiving our cards for the month of April.

Today I want to share a project with you that I recently made.  I used crayons, a blow dryer, and hot glue, among other things, to create this canvas.  It was really fun to melt the crayons and guide them with the blow dryer as they dripped down the canvas.

The umbrella was made without a pattern, while the dancing couple was cut using the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge.

The sentiment, "Happiness is Dancing in the Rain with a Friend" was created using the Cameo.

I will be linking this canvas to sarah hamer design's: Link Up Tuesday" party and Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge at My Creative Time.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to stop back on Sunday to meet our April recipient of the "I Feel the Love Project" cards.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #79- Make Me Laugh

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #79
Make Me Laugh

Do you have a favorite pun?  Let's hear it.  It is time to make us laugh.  In honor of April Fool's Day we want to see "Punny" projects:)

I can always use more book marks.  I really do love to read.  In fact, I love to read BEARy much:)  How about you?

I designed and created my book mark using the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. My BEARy cute little bear was embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and given googley eyes:) She loves her paisley dress:)

The bookmark itself was made using the cut and print feature of the Cameo. The edges of the bookmark were inked and a pretty brown ribbon was tied the the bookmark to finish it off.

Please be sure to visit the Cooking With Cricut blog to see what the other design team members have cooked up for you this week. You have until next Tuesday to enter this week's challenge for a chance to win a fabulous prize from our sponsor, Papercraftingworld.com. Click HERE to enter.

Get Well Sweet Trinitie

Welcome to Funky Cards

As we near the end of the month, I wanted to remind you that it isn't too late to send your cards for Trinitie.  This deserving young lady has had an eventful month.

Trinitie has a new look!

Trinitie, I think you look fabulous:)  I love your new look.

Here is part of a post that appeared on her Facebook page that was written by her mom:

"Trinitie is doing so amazing, God is so great and our prayers are being answered everyday!! Two days ago she had a bit of a bad spell after studying with her tutor she felt that she had a headache so she went back to the room and slept for a couple hours, when she woke up she still had a headache and not long after that vomited and she said her headache had went away. I know it may be nothing but all I could think about all I said was "Dear God, please don't allow this precious child's tumor to come back" So please please pray that she will not have any more of these symptoms. "

Please consider making a cheerful/thinking of you card for Trinitie.  Cards like these can really help to brighten her day.

Update: Moore family

Welcome to Funky Cards
I wanted to share an update with you regarding the Moore family. Marley was our July 2011 recipient of the "I Feel the Love Project" cards. Marley went to be with Jesus on October 11, 2011. Although I knew it at the time, it was much too painful for me to post. Marley's passing hit me really hard. Marley's pictures still hang in my house on posters as part of the "I Feel the Love Project." She will always have a special place in my heart.

On a happier note I wanted to pass on this news from Marley's CaringBridge page as written by her Aunt.
"Good afternoon, friends! I hope this finds you all doing well...I had some news I wanted to share with you guys, so I thought now was the perfect time to send out an update on the latest news in the Moore family.
This morning I was driving to work, and heard the song, "Blessed Be Your Name". It's such a beautiful song, the lyrics are so powerful. Even though I don't hear it often, when I do, it reminds me of Marley...and of the grace of our God. There are several lines in that song that remind me of the trials and tribulations that come with walking through this fallen world...and other lines that remind me of the joy that comes after you've gone through the desert, broken and empty-handed, and God brings about hope to fill you back up.
This week was one of those times...
After the past few months of heartache and loss, we have experienced JOY this week. Not a joy that replaces...but a joy that refreshes. That joy came in the form of a precious baby....a beautiful, perfect, healthy baby boy.
At 1:27 p.m. on Monday, March 12th, the newest addition to the Moore family was born. Micah Nathan Moore, a perfect 7 pounds, 19 inches long. The name Micah means "one who is like God" or "a gift from God". Pretty fitting if I do say so myself. :) He shares his middle name, Nathan, with his awesome daddy.

I was able to be in the delivery room when Micah was born. Let me tell you, it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced. Not only was God's presence there in the room with us, but I believe that Marley's was, too. It was one of those days that had been bathed in prayer by hundreds of people, and it was incredibly obvious. God's hand was in the entire thing, from start to finish. He even orchestrated a few extra details to make it extra special:  Brent & Mia both were on their spring break from school, allowing them to spend an entire week with their newest family member. Nikki was only in labor for 10 minutes. Brent got to deliver Micah, with the help of their amazing doctor, who is also a family friend.  Every person involved in the day was incredible, from their delivery nurse to the people who cuddled Micah throughout the night while Brent & Nikki slept. They were constantly surrounded by God's presence the entire time, and it was so evident.
Let me tell you something else that happened while we were in the hospital...(I'll have to go back to the beginning first..) A few months ago, Nikki began the process of cleaning out Marley's room. Being as they didn't have an extra room for the baby, that room would become the new nursery. Obviously this was a very painful process for Brent & Nikki, and lots of prayers carried them through, as they began to sift through her belongings and create a space for their new baby, all the while having to mourn their loss yet again. Without knowing what the sex of the baby would be, it was impossible to decorate. But even during a time that left them feeling so empty, God, yet again, found a way to fill them up. He surrounded them with some very special friends who began to gather fresh ideas as well as funds to help create a brand new room.
A very special pair of young women (you know who you are, Becky & Natalie!) were told the sex of the baby in order to prepare for the arrival. They gathered things and kept them in their houses for weeks prior to the birth, all while keeping the sex of the baby a secret. The day that Nikki went into the hospital, they went to work. In less than 48 hours, they had called in helpers, painted walls, hung new curtains, refininished furniture, displayed photographs, installed light fixtures, and turned an empty room into a beautifully breathtaking nursery. By the time Brent and Nikki came home from the hospital, the room was completely finished and ready for Micah. It is a nursery created with an intense amount love and represents the new hope that Micah brings into our family...and it's SO beautiful.
I will be putting together some more photographs of Micah, the nursery, and the Moores over the next few days, and will send out an update with more photographs for you to see .... But for now, we are going to bask in the great joy that this sweet new baby boy brings. He will follow in the footsteps of his big sisters by enriching the lives of those around him, and by following God's amazing will and purpose for his life.
I wish I could tell him how lucky he is to be born into such an amazing family...but if I had my guess, I'm pretty sure that someone already has. :)
Love, peace, & joy to each of you,"
If you would like to send a congratulation/baby card to Brent and Nikki, feel free to send it to me and I will pass it along.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #78- Rain Is A Good Thing

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #78
Spring Theme/Song

So what is your favorite spring song?  This week at Cooking With Cricut we are using out favorite spring song as an inspiration to create a fun project.  I am a huge fan of country music.  I decided to create a project by smashing two songs together.
Let it Rain... and

Rain is a Good Thing...  enjoy!!!

We have been experiencing a drought here in California.   We haven't had much of a winter.  Although I am ready for spring, we could really use some rain before the awesome warm weather sets in.  My smash up is all about the rain!  Funny thing, as I was creating this project this weekend, California was getting soaked:)

As the rain from the Everyday Cricut cartridge pours down on California, the flowers from the Floral Embellishment Cricut cartridge bloom and grow.  The musical notes from Designer's Calendar are part of the celebration!!  It is finally raining:)

All the words were cut and offset using the Cameo.

Happy Birthday Sandy

Welcome to Funky Cards

Hello everyone. I want to tell you about a new challenge blog that I recently came across. The name of the blog is Wobble Wednesday's Challenge and once a week this blog will be hosting challenges which ask the crafter to use Action Wobbles.  If you haven't used these embellishments before, you might want to check them out. They are really fun! You can attach them to the cut outs on your cards and they make the cut outs wobble back and forth.

This side step birthday card was designed and created for my Aunt Sandy who will be celebrating her birthday next week.

Here is the cutting mat ready to cut all the pieces for the QT Patootie cutting file.  Although you can see a Cricut mat, this is being cut with the Cameo.

The adorable QT Patootie cutting file can be found at Papercraftingworld.com. The dress was embossed and bows, hair, and socks were inked to make them pop.

Using the Cameo, the words Happy, Birthday, and Sandy were created with patterned paper and a shadow or "offset" of each word was made using black card stock. The words were welded together and stretched extra tall for fun. Action Wobbles were added to the back of Happy and Birthday. They look so cute when they are in motion.

I am entering this side step card into the Wobble Wednesday's Challenge #1.  It was really fun to make.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #77- St. Patrick's Day/Rainbows

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #77
St. Patrick's Day Theme or a Rainbow

This easel card came together quickly in my head.  I love rainbows and I wanted to make a rainbow out of hearts:)

Using the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge, six 1.5" hearts were cut to represent the colors of the rainbow. They also represent well wishes and positive thoughts being sent out to the recipient of this card. The bear is standing on a cloud cut from the Create a Critter cartridge.

The Create a Critter cartridge was also used to cut the grass for the bottom of the easel.  The sentiment, "Sending Prayers and Love" is from the "Faith" stamp set by Pink By Design.

The adorable digi stamp can be found at Papercraftingworld.com.

Stitching was added to her dress for fun:)

Just for you Trinitie:)

Welcome to Funky Cards

More sweet thoughts coming your way Trinitie!

Here is a card I made for Trinitie, the recipient of our
"I Feel the Love Project" cards for the month of March.

Using the Hello Kitty and Sweethearts Cricut cartridges, this card was designed with the thought of sending love and well wishes to Trinitie.

I really love the stamp set that Emma, of My Creative Time, designed called, Just a Little Note to Say.  It has wonderful sayings like this one that go perfectly with the thoughts that I want to express in my cards for my I Feel the Love Project.  Thanks Emma!

Update regarding Trinitie

Welcome to Funky Cards

I wanted to pass on some good news regarding Trinitie, the current recipient of the cards from our

This news was posted today on Trinitie's Facebook page and written by her mom:

‎"As Christians, we stand in a win-win situation during times like this. Either I am going to keep my child, or God was going to keep my child"

While staying at the Ronald McDonald House I recently received a card with those words wrote in it. This card came from a lady that I have never had the pleasure of meeting. But those words, really hit home. Those are the words that I needed to hear and they have been stuck in my mind ever since. It's so true this is a win-win situation and I know in my heart and in my soul that whatever God chooses for my sweet daughter will be the BEST choice without a doubt!!

Today was a "WOW" Day!! I would like to start of by saying Trinitie's blood work came back PERFECT!! That is 3 weeks in a row now.. YIPPY!!

Here is your chance to create a card of your own to send to Trinitie or her family.  One can never have enough "WOW" days:)  Join me for this month's "I Feel the Love Project."  Click HERE for all the details.  Your cards do make a difference.

Cooking with Cricut Challenge #76: Read Across America

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #76
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Read Across America
We are celebrating READING and the wonderful Dr. Seuss. (click on photo to enlarge)

This is a painted canvas that I plan to give to my 1st grade teacher. I really enjoy creating canvases using a mixture of paint, paper, and flowers.

The two adorable digi stamps can be found at Papercraftingworld.com.
The bear digi stamp was downloaded into photoshop.  The hot chocolate was erased and replaced with the Dr. Seuss quote, "Why fit in when you were born to stand out?"

Using the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge, a frame and shadow were cut out for the sentiment, "If you can read this, thank a teacher!"

Update: Kate McRae- Good News:)

Welcome to Funky Cards

Kate McRae- August recipient "I Feel the Love Project"

From Kate's CaringBridge site: March 1st.

"2 Corinthians 1:9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. 10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.

We held chemo yesterday... The plan was already in place before her labwork was back. Kate's oncologist wanted to see what today's scan showed before opting to give it to her. So not surprisingly, we held it. Not much later her urinalysis came back showing protein in her urine, eliminating her from getting it anyways. We were prepared for that, so I wasn't surprised. Disappointed none the less. We decided to wait on even discussing what to do about treatment, her leg, a nephrologist and other symptoms, until we were able to see what was going on in her brain. It was silly to create scenarios when her scan was the following day. I was nervous. Very nervous. So instead of chemo, Kate skipped school and we went to lunch.

So this afternoon was the MRI. We were alone in the waiting room, for which I was grateful. No competition for my raging headache.

I won't drag this out, as my heart is overwhelmed! We received a phone call from Kate's oncologist while in recovery, only my phone was on vibrate. Then my voice mail wasn't working. So we stopped at the wireless store in hopes they could help with my messages as all calls to the hospital were now being routed to the on call Dr. I don't doubt I looked a little crazy eyed and short of breath as they looked at my phone and tried to help me retrieve the message.

We are so grateful for Dr Etzl making the point to call us so quickly with the results. Sparing these parents hearts the agony of hours or days of waiting. And we are beyond grateful for Jesus giving us a good scan! The message was brief but enough to hear that they saw no new tumors or recurrent ones! Thank you Jesus! Thank you! Thank you! They are unsure as to Kate's symptoms, or if it is simply from prior damage. Tonight we relish that it is NOT the sign of cancer!

We are so grateful for your prayers! So grateful!! We will update when we know more about treatment and other things. For tonight we celebrate God's mercy toward us today."

Thanks for stopping by!
