i spent so much time editing the thing ):

i guess we'll have to come up with more ideas. i did another one but i dnt think its as good. hahah.

Roads Not Taken
-Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

yes, it is indeed very meaningful.

jst finished watching Dead Poets Society, and im very sad now. ha.
it makes understand why other countries think that singaporean are 'dead' & uncreative. what im abt to say its jst my own opinion, if you cant accept my opinion, dont read. if you do read, its jst MY opinion.

okay, so. firstly, education in singapore. yes its good and all but students dont think for themselves. they dont think out of the box. and when they do, teachers give comments like "what are you thinking?" "what sort of work is this?" students are told to read from textbook, memorise concepts, are they ever given questions in the textbook for them to think for themselves? Exams. what exactly do they want from students? how much you can memorise? how many times you read your text, how fast you write? like what Colin said, your future, your fate, your life is based on your performance that very day. i hate that. but all of us have to go through that.

secondly, teachers who try to be nice and different from the 'normal' teachers are told not to play a fool, be serious. they get condemned for being too relax and everything. if students still get good results and they do well, whats wrong with that?

thirdly, the idea of a 'proper school' in most singaporean terms is to have exams after exams, tests after tests, assignments after another and its never ending! what do you actually get out of it? when ss first 'broke off' from the 'proper school' kinda teaching method, people always says that we study lesser or, we're not actually studying, we're jst gng in for sports. we only have muscles and no brain. but hey, for those that choose to take the O levels, dont we all take the same paper and go through the same thing? and we even get a to have more exciting experiences that you cant possibility get else where most of the times. boarding (:
"Use one word to describe your life in sports school, and why?" that was the question posted to janice during english class. her answer was "unpredictable." And yes, i totally agree with her. people doubted the acadamic standard of your school & at some point of time, i doubted it too. but at the end of it, if you manage to learn MORE things than what you would have at the 'proper school', whats so bad about it?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH BREAKING FREE FROM TRADITIONS?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH TRYING SOMETHING NEW?

finally, it brings me to the point where most singaporean think that you have to go JC, you have to get an A level cert and you have to go to uni to be successful. but let me ask this, what is wrong with going to poly and ite? what is wrong with learning PRACTICAL life skills?

HOW MUCH OF THE THINGS WE ARE LEARNING FROM THE TEXTBOOK NOW, ARE ACTUALLY APPLICABLE IN REAL LIFE?

think about it.

Hard work, sacrifice and focus will never show up in tests.
-Lance Armstrong

Maybe so. Than why are we being judged so much based on tests? On competitions? Yes, for some, the results are sweet and one can forget all the sufferings he had gone through. But what if, it never shows? "Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly." Do you still hang on? What if, I had wanted more? What if, I had given up? What if. There isnt anything you can be sure about in this world. For that im sure.

During our lives we're faced with so many elements, we experience so many setbacks, and fight such a hand-to-hand battle with failure, head down in the rain, just trying to stay upright and have a little hope. The Tour isn't just a bike race, it tests you mentally, physically, and even morally.

Povan : oops! sorry. i'll change it soon. hahah

anyway, today wasnt very eventful or anything. i still had to go for trng ): after which i went down to gombak stadium to watch vanessa compete ! hahah. first time watching a hurdles/jump events. quite an interesting experience i must say. i went there at abt 2 and it was freaking hot. and at 3 plus. it started pouring and they had to delay the thing resulting in me, not able to watch the finals. pftt.

i decided to go to raffles place after gombak since i had time. i walked arnd the whole place but there isnt one thing that i want. sigh.

csc sports awards dinner after that. it was kinda boring. i didnt like the food either ):

nvm. tmr will be a better day :D

What are the Odds?

The Scenario: Being struck by lightning
The Odds: 1 in 240,000

There's a reason lightning strikes and lotteries are often mentioned in the same sentence. Only about 100 people in the United States die each year from lightning. Most strikes occur from June through August. Serious burns are actually rare. The most common injury is nervous system damage from the voltage.

The Scenario: Dying in a tornado
The Odds: 1 in 5 million

About 60 people are killed each year by tornados; the usual cause of death is flying or falling debris.

The Scenario: Dying from a bee, hornet, or wasp sting
The Odds: 1 in 5.33 million

Only a few dozen people die each year from severe allergic reactions to stings

The Scenario: Being bitten by a venomous snake
The Odds: 1 in 37,250

Although snakes bite roughly 45,000 Americans each year, fewer than 20 percent of those are from venomous snakes. Only 12 people a year die from a bite.

The Scenario: Being attacked by a shark
The Odds: 1 in 11.5 million

You're far more likely to sustain an injury from a toilet seat than a shark, according to the International Shark Attack File (ISAF). Only 23 people were involved in unprovoked shark attacks in 2000, and that was the record year for attacks.

The Scenario: Being attacked by a bear
The Odds: 1 in 36 million

Twelve people, on average, are mauled by bears each year in North America

hah. jst smth i found pretty interesting (:

trng+ sch was good. how rare huh. well, peter actually allowed us to play basketball on wed. and i didnt trng on tue afternoon. so.. thats partly why i found trng good this week i suppose. hah.

Sunday, April 01, 2007
- Sunday, April 01, 2007

i reached home at 10pm after starting my run at 6.30pm.
obviously i didnt run that long.

after watching The Beautiful Mind, i decided to go running with my dad.
we ran from our place to east coast park food court, abt 3km. had a great dinner there. bbq stingray, chicken wing, popian & ice kachang. it was really filling :D after which we started our long long journey back home.
for delfina, vanessa, janice, aloy and ce - you know how bloody tiring and long that walk is. esp now that we jst ran 3km.

ha. took abt an hr. of which our dinner had digested and my dad suggested that we go have indian naan! it was jst behind my house so we sat down to have naan and tissue prata which tasted greattttt (: after that, both of us were really bloated and regretted eating. HA. but it was good.

& i realised that of all the things i ate at east coast park hawker center, the bbq stingray, chicken wing and ice kachang were avaliable behind my house. now i wonder why we ran so far jst for those food. hmm.

so, this weekend was relatively slack and i enjoyed it (:
didnt manage to catch Freedom Writer but nvm. i'll catch it soon.
some of us are gna visit uncle vincent on tue evening and i might go home from there :D
chalet on thurs, fri and maybe sat? haha. i better enjoy myself before the mid years start coming. hehh. im actually considering gng to poly after Os (:

anw, its late and im only gna be able to get at most 6hrs of slp. sad.
bye!
