I'm glad I have my best friend, Ben, to rest my head on while traveling! It was great to get a pre-boarding pass for each flight due to my pregnancy! We got to sit next to each other, toward the front and close to the bathroom! I was very well taken care of as a passenger!
Funny story: From SLC to Denver, I kept telling Ben our gate was C35. When we got to Denver and checked at gate C35 it was a plane headed to Philadelphia. I told him how I knew it was the right plane and we were meant to go to my home (as a joke). My heart yearns to be with family! Always and forever! So we ended up flying out of C32. NO, LA here we come, but Philly I tried!
This is the first view of our ship on Saturday morning:
We boarded the ship after checking in and ate lunch! All I wanted was a root beer float!
Then we explored the ship and found our room. We got upgraded, thanks again to pregnancy, to a room with a window! We were thrilled and it helped to keep our bodies aligned with the day & night. The only problem we ran across was on the floor below us was maintenance so we heard banging and clanging pipes and machines all the time from like 5 am on.
This is Saturday's events after lunch: Tour of the ship, a practice of the evacuation procedures, and a welcome to the cruise entertainment show. Here is our first night towel animal. I think it is a rabbit.
I like the above pic because behind me on the left is New Orleans, I'm on the ship, and headed down the Mississippi River out to the Gulf!
We had tons of good food at each meal and meals in between sometimes too! The first night we met a young couple and we hung out with them for most of the cruise!
The normal waves from the ship.
We went out to the adult only serenity spa area and read our books!
Then nap time. I must have taken a nap every day, sometimes two. I sure am tired!
While I slept, Ben read more and ordered room service. Almost every time he ordered room service it was for potato chips!
Sunday was formal night so we got dressed and headed to dinner with our newly acquired friends, Steph and Mike.
We saw the sunset on the ocean & it was beautiful!
We also took some pictures of us on the stage in the theater.
It's an elephant!
Sunday night was tons of fun!
Monday was our first day to port & a shore excursion trip. We picked a day at the beach at Cozumel.
Nothing like breakfast in bed to start the day!
We ended up being 2 out of 10 people there that day!! It felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves!
The picture above is special. See if you can find out why! (If you can't see because of the lighting, it is a place called the Three Amigos-just like me, Ben, and baby!) The Three Amigos is also an awesome movie!
There are tons of pictures because it was beautiful! We loved the blue water and white beaches and the sky that day was picturesque too!
We went back to our room and took naps! Then it was dinner time. This was my favorite dish. Fruit? Yes, Fruit!! I had two of these plates of fruit tonight too!
I always wore my sweater to the dining room because it was soooooooooo cold!
Our towel animal for Monday night:
Any guesses what it is? I think it is a monkey, but who knows, because monkeys do not have big ears like that. I really like how it is positioned on the edge of the bed! So cute! Our room steward did a great job!
Tuesday was our port at Progresso where we decided to take an excursion to Chichen Itza to see the Mayan Ruins.
We had a lovely 2.5 hour bus trip (I slept) there and back.
We arrived and heard about the first ruin before the clouds opened up and poured rain down on us!
In a matter of minutes everything was flooded and we were soaked, so we decided to venture out and see the ruins anyway and make it memorable!
While there Ben did some great shopping. He bought a chess set, his $1 straw hat, a poncho, and another hat.
That night we ate dinner, went to a show and I raided the on-ship candy store!
They let me sample a piece of every candy before I made my selections. I'm such a cute pregnant lady and all I wanted was some sweet, sweet candy!
Ben got to wear his outfit to the Mexican Fiesta they had on the ship that night too. They had ice sculptures and watermelon sculptures too!
In our room we had this towel animal, my favorite, Senor Frog!
He looks so stylish in my glasses too!
Wednesday morning was the day we haul it back to NO, LA. The wind was 50 mph+ and the boat was rocking. This was the first day I felt sea-sick and had to take medicine and all day naps to help feel better. I did end up puking, but then I felt better. Not fun!
Here are the rocky, stormy waves.
I did manage to get out of bed for dinner and the 3 shows of the night. 1 dance/singing show and 2 comedy shows. I took the extra blanket out of our room and brought it with us!
That night we found this on our bed:
a perfect way to end our wonderful cruise. We love each other so much and had a great time together!
Thursday morning was goodbye room R174 and hello to the airport for a day of traveling back to SLC!
We had so much fun! The sea-sickness was worth it. I'm barely getting over it now still, but I'm making it! We will always remember the poison ivy, the hives, the puking and all the other life adventures you can't really avoid while on vacation. We can't wait until our next cruise! :)
