Canyonlands Map

By request I have outlined our path on the trails in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. According to this map we did 20.8 miles over three days. We were very surprised to realize that these were more like climbing trails than hiking trails. Day 1 is red and you will notice that we took a wrong turn and walked/climbed .6 miles in the wrong direction. Then came back and camped at EC2. Day 2 is in yellow. We hiked/climbed down to the Druid Arch and then over to the Joint Trail, and then camped at CP3. Day 3 we hiked out. There was only water in two places, one of which was so close to the car we never used it. Incidentally, the heaviest part of our packs was the water. Enjoy the map.

Canyonlands Day 3

Day three. Chilly morning.

Same little arch but this time seeing Ben through it.

On the trail.

This pic is awesome. It is the trail. Up these tiny little slanted rocks.

It looks like I'm on the moon... use your imagination! There are puddles cause it had just rained.

We made it!!!!

Mega Woman Melissa!

My Super Star Ben!

Canyonlands Day 2

Ready for day 2.

Here is our guide, we refer to him as Marker, Trail Marker (said like Bond, James Bond). This one is a shrine to Trail Marker!

Some places you had to crawl under rocks in order to stay on the trail.

Crazy trail.

Where we got water to drink!

To jump or not to jump!?!

Climb straight up. Ben took this looking down.

Druid Arch

Druid Arch from the side.

Second campsite view.

Our tent. It got a little bit wet and windy this night.

On the Joint Trail. It was a trail through slot canyons.

Ben was so happy to be here!

Another lovely trail to hike up & down.

I found a bed!!!

Beautiful blue bird!

In order to eat without getting blown over, we tried to eat in our tent but the wind kept blowing sand in our tent through the vents so we put Ben's hat over the pot of food.

Canyonlands Day 1

Before we headed out.

Ben reorganizing his pack before we get into serious trail.

This dirt is alive. Amazing? Yes!

Face Rock.

Face on the left. Donkey Kong on the right.

This is our trail?!?

Cool little arch.

I got stuck. :(
