Hurricane Car Show

Since last year's car show at Viva Las Vegas was somewhat of a bust, we decided to keep things a bit more low-key this year with the Hurricane Car Show. It was a great time.

The Ballards joined us for the day and Macy and Gus got to play.

Just Get Ready

9 months old? It seriously feels like I had her just yesterday! Here's what our little 9-month old is up to:

Macy weights 16 lbs 14 oz. And she's 28 inches tall.

Macy's first tooth broke through on the bottom at 9 months. The one right next to it doesn't look too far behind.

She stands up next to the couch with supervision.

Macy is loving food like broccoli soup, avocados, pickles, oranges and more.

She says "da da" a lot (once in the middle of church when Andy was passing the sacrament).

Her latest trick is clicking her tongue.

She sometimes says "hi".

She does a breathy excited little "hah hah hah" when she is excited.

She likes stroller rides.

Macy is a good traveler.

She sucks her two fingers. Like this:

She had the croup and an ear infection at the same time and hardly complained.

Every morning after I leave for work, Macy spends an hour with her dad before Aunt Kim comes over to watch her for a few hours. She insists on sitting on the couch with dad and the fuzzy green throw. One day she fussed until Andy sat her down. She proceeded to grab the throw and drag it over to her dad making it pretty clear what she wanted.

Everyone raves over pictures of our beautiful daughter or strangers in the grocery store are in awe of her long eyelashes and precious face.

And I love it. I do.

But others only get to see a dimension of her beauty. I count myself lucky to experience all of Macy; to be around her all the time. I do my fair share of admiring her sweet cheeks but this little girl is sweet to the core. She is beautiful on the inside and out.

Girl's Weekend

My sisters and my mom are my best friends and I don't get to see them enough so I was glad we could have a girl's weekend.

Left to right: Nicole, Mom (GiGi, Glenda), Brie, Amber, Holly, Laurie (Sister in Law but she's one of us!).

We had lots of fun shopping and crafting. I think the highlight was shopping at the DI where we bought plates and vases to turn into cake stands. Didn't they turn out fab? And we found that cool tourquoise vase at the DI too.

We also made moss-covered letters:

Everyone brought a craft or uplifting thought to share It was so awesome. I am lucky to have such wonderful sisters and mom.

Despite an ear infection and the croup, Macy got in on the fun as well. She got a pedicure from her cousin Ally.

And she chilled with cousin Nash.

Spring

I think spring just makes me want to refresh things and there is just something about making something out of nothing that feels oh so good.

WALL ART - FRAMES
When I lived in my little avenues apartment in Salt Lake, I had the greatest bedroom with old brick walls. I loved those walls because I could put as many holes in the mortar as I wanted! At one point, I picked up a bunch of picture frames from the DI and spray painted them all white and arranged them on the brick wall in a collage like so (those yellow flowers are the ones I got when Andy proposed to me):

Since Andy and I have been married, these frames have been in the bottom of the basement in a box. Because we live in a little old house with plaster walls, holes in the walls are problematic because they can make the wall crack. So, I thought my white frame collage was a thing of the past. Then, I had the idea to hot glue them together. We actually suspended them with fishing line from a hook that was already at the very top of the wall. And now I have a little something new to look at that cost $0 and didn't even require putting a hole in the wall. Score.

WALL ART - WHITE RHINO
I recently consigned a few items at the local consignment shop and with the earnings, I picked up this funky white rhino (which apparently is a form of marijuana, who knew?). It adds the right amount of edge to the room. I love it!

ZEBRA PILLOW
At my card/craft group, we made throw pillows and this is mine. I love how it turned out. I used stuffing from an old pillow and got the fabric 40% off at JoAnn's.

MOSS-COVERED LETTERS
I made these for my card/craft group girls and love how they turned out. They weren't free but they certainly weren't $79 like the Pottery Barn ones where I got the inspiration. More like $5.

And this one is mine...

BRINGING OUT SPRING
Just brought up a few items from seasonal storage.

I turned this tiered basket into our Easter baskets and made little tags to go along with it.

BEDSPREAD FLIP
Our bedspread was like this all winter:

I loved it but was ready for a change so I just flipped it over one day and turned the shams around and it satisfied my need for change beautifully.

Lovin' that new headboard...

GLITTER EGGS
Boiled, sprayed with spray adhesive and glittered.

Got hung up on the glitter concept and glittered some gifts for my nieces birthdays, Natalee and Ally.

Only do the glitter projects if you don't mind your hands looking like this.

Camera Flirt

Macy is becoming more flirtatious with the camera. I love it.
