Be back soon!

Guys, the time has come…the massive website redesign and migration from Blogger to Wordpress is happening RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately that means I have to stop posting for a few weeks, so you'll be hearing crickets over here for a little while. The good news, however, is that the new site will knock your socks off! And we will have SO MUCH to talk about when I get back!

I have some exciting announcements regarding TLC, the Fun Cheap or Free cruise, FBC'14, and more, so I'm going to be very active on Instagram and Facebook to keep you up-to-date. I will also be posting savings tips to tide you over until I can be back full-force.

So hang tight, don't go anywhere, and I'll see you back here soon.
Love y'all!
XOXO

Live Q&A #5 recap: Pay off debt, or build up savings? How can we "afford" another child? How do we get cheap airfare? And MORE answered!

Thanks for those who tuned in live to our Q&A #5! For the rest of you, have no fear, you can watch it again…and again…and again…and again…
Aren't you lucky?

See the questions broken down below so you can skip around if you'd like.
I mean really, who wants to hear me ramble for an hour?

Click to watch the video online HERE, or simply watch below:

Here are the questions broken down by time-stamp, as well as helpful links:

1:47 from Jennifer- Your daughter has curly hair, my daughter has curly hair! Do you have a good way to keep the frizz under control?
  • I forgot to mention this in the video, but I SWEAR by this leave-in conditioner. It's expensive, but it's a dream on "the nest". I just spray her hair down with plain water, spray the conditioner, then brush through with a comb. Yes, 3x per day. Poor girl.
3:12 from KristyHave you and your hubby always been on the same page with budgeting? Are either of you the "spender" and the other the "saver", or are you pretty united on each front?
7:02 from Rikkihein- Haha I love that you are so secure and confidant! You are cracking me up!! How do you work on feeling so secure in yourself? You're amazing.
14:57 from Debbie- We're wanting to come to the Bootcamp this year - what's in it for the guys? Also (not something everyone else cares about) but we are now # 12 in line for adoption. If we get the baby around then, are tickets refundable?
17:40 from Karissa- Will Frugality Boot Camp ever be offered online? for those that can't make it out to Utah?
19:30 from Ruta- My son plays hockey and we have a huge fundraiser coming up in form of an auction. Every family has to donate one item worth at least $100, any suggestions how to meet the requirement yet not pay $100?
24:00 from Anna- If you don't have any credit card debt but do have a car loan ! Do you try to pay the car loan ASAP or start trying to save as much as you can?
26:26 from Amy- I would love to see a break down of how much (a percentage) of income each budget item should be. Like how much of your income should be for food, clothes, etc.?
30:07 from Lauryn- I was wondering how you get started with the 7 bank accounts, we dont bring in much extra money at the end of the month after bills/food so how do we start putting money away into the different accounts?
35:21 from Jessica- are your "what to spend on grocery" averages/guidelines were meant to include household cleaners, etc.
36:06 from Alea- Were you concerned at all about "affording" more than 1 child? My husband and I are considering another one but I think about Health Insurance, Schools (Private vs. Public) and the other big expenses. I am not talking about groceries, clothes or diapers - I can figure that out... :)

41:50 from Natalie- Loved your blog today! Can you outline some of the specific goals you and Bubba decided on to become more financially stable?

45:27 from Ashleyspeaking of travel.. we are looking to get airfare for our family (4 seats) for next year & it is looking pretty expensive. Do u have any suggestions, tricks, or tips for finding reasonable airfare?
48:10 form Lauren- Where did you get your cute sweatshirt?

49:47 from Kelly CI am a current college senior trying to plan for life after graduation. I was wondering, do you have any tips for college students transitioning to "real world" finances?
53:57 from Kelly-lee-  When are you gonna do an office makeover reveal?

55:06 From Jordan- What the heck is going on with this TLC Extreme Cheapstakes show?!?!?

57:00 From Samantha- When will you be revealing the new blog layout!? The suspense is peaking my curiosity!

57:24- What is in the bootcamp for the guys?

Make Change Happen.

3.5 years ago we hardly had money to pay our bills.
We had $10,000 debt on just one credit card.
I was a new SAHMom and Bubba had a new business & wasn't bringing home much of a paycheck. We looked at each other and decided we wanted a better life for ourselves; for our children. We decided we wanted to stop getting by, and start getting ahead.

We set firm goals and worked our tails off.

We sacrificed tons of good things, having faith that it would lead to great things.
And it has.

By working so hard we were able to get out of our situation in just one year.
We worked even harder for 18 months and now wake up every morning in our dream home.
And no, we aren't rich. By a long shot.

That, my friends, is what frugality is all about. Being frugal is not about giving up everything you love, but rather learning to get everything you love - the smart way. We have more, do more, and live more now than ever before...because of how frugal we are, not in spite of it.

This, folks, is the new frugal.

It's not what you thought it was.
It's not as hard as you think it is.
Don't get me wrong, yes, it takes hard work...but doesn't everything in life that is good, lovely, and of value?
But ultimately, it results in a life richer than you could have ever thought imaginable.
Richer in every sense of the word.

BUT...
Where to begin? Where to start? Is it even worth it? How can I possibly get ahead? How can we recover from everything that's happened to us? How will I possibly understand all of this? My head is swimming. How can we possibly figure this out on our own?
You don't have to.

My heart literally breaks with every email I read that includes a plea for help. I can feel the frustration, confusion, and hopelessness seep from every black and white letter. I'm here to help. I want to help. But I can't possibly help every person one-on-one, so I'm doing my best.

So join me at Frugality Boot Camp 2014.
It's not only fun, not only enlightening; inspiring even, but it's hope. It's hope for a brighter future, a better life, and more fun than you ever could've imagined for yourself.

Don't come for me, I don't actually make any money off your tickets. That's not why I do this.
Come for you; for your family.
Just come.
Let's figure this out together.

The best news? We are working out how to broadcast FBC'14 so you can watch it in your own home from anywhere in the world! More on that soon.

If you want your life to change, you can't sit around and wait for it to change for you.
Make. Change. Happen.

Seriously love you guys!
XOXO,
