Waterton

Our first camping adventure of the season!  Well....it wasn't our intended destination anyways, but due to the flooding here in Alberta, plans needed to be changed.   So, off we went to Waterton!  As you already know, this is a family favourite. We will be heading back here at the end of summer as well.  It started out as a quick three night trip, but we extended our stay for an extra night as the schools here were shut down.  The weather was fantastic, a tad windy, but we are used to that!  We spent our days hiking, wandering the townsite, renting surrey bikes, eating ice cream, and just chilling out by the lake.  We lucked out and we were also able to take part in the "Wildflower Festival"...total bonus!  We attended a presentation about wildflowers, and another one that featured a nature photographer whose work has been published in National Geographic.  Amazing!  We learned a lot, and even headed out on our own wildflower discovery adventure.  Talk about keeping kids entertained while hiking!
Aidan and Maelle hiked Bear's Hump with Brent, and we plan on getting Bree and Jenna up the mountain at summer's end.
So, despite everything going on here in our city and surrounding area, we made the best of our time in one of our most favourite places.  We met many people who while in Waterton, had lost their homes to the flood, and who amazingly were in such good spirits.  Humbling for sure.
