stir crazy

Ok...you know you are starting to go just a little stir crazy when you find this exciting....

Yep...a brand new box of 64 crayons just waiting to be tested. Look how sharp and pristine they are! Did you know that you can also get a box of 96? Who knew?! I bought these for the kids today along with some great sketch books, but now I am wondering if I should have kept them all for myself. See what happens when you get out of the house and go to Staples!!! What a great place to run around and find such fun things. Ok....well, I didn't exactly run it was more of a hobble, which made it quite easy for Brent to track me down, but hey...it was an outing!
So, I did end up giving the crayons to the kids and they were put to good use this evening in front of a warm fire.

Happy colouring!

novelty

Looks like my belly has become quite the novelty for the kids. Tonight, I was a parking lot to various vehicles that made the trip up my leg, and over "the hill", only to stop in what was referred to by Aidan as a very large parking lot. Good thing he is so cute, because I was so overcome by giggles that shook the vehicles off the hill (now resembling more of an earthquake) and Aidan laughed as the cars and trucks rolled off my belly on all sides. It's all about that creative play and I am glad I could be part of it...I think.

As for an update on the babes.....looks like we are still playing the waiting game with the chance of going at anytime. By next Wednesday however, an induction has already been scheduled which I really hope can be avoided and that things will just happen on their own. Fingers crossed!

the good ole' hockey game

A little video I thought I would share with everyone of Aidan and Maelle playing hockey. They have come along way with their skating and I am so proud of both of them, and their amazing teacher (aka dad!). I really hope that these babes arrive soon so I can have a go on the ice before it melts away.

we have a winner....

....well, we were close anyways! Aside from Aidan's cheeky grin, I think we managed to get a nice pic of me, my belly, and the kidlets. That was the goal. They just don't sit still for any longer than 5 seconds so you need to be quick!

We are still playing the waiting game here for the arrival of these young ladies, but hopefully it won't be much longer. Oh to be able to move freely and breathe again! And I'm sure I'll be movin' too! We'll keep you all posted!

simple things

Who ever said the words "it's always the simple things in life" was exactly right. That was definitely the case tonight as Aidan and Maelle spent the evening playing with glow sticks turned into bracelets, that were picked up from Michael's a few months ago. The entire tube....$1.50. The best money ever spent on entertainment I think. What fun they had! I too had a little fun with the kidlets and took a bunch of really fun pictures that amazed both Aidan and Maelle.
How cool is that?

sweet treat!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I would love to share this little treat with you all....but unfortunatley this is a close as I can get! Just so you get a better idea...how about a fluffy white cupcake topped with pink coconut icing and red sprinkles to get your Valentine's Day started! If you could only smell it.....

Oh, and as for pregnancy pictures...this is as far as we got today...
Better luck tomorrow!

call in the reinforcements!

So, after news from my doctor, that these little (ok...not so little) babes in my belly could arrive a bit earlier than originally planned, we decided to get Grandma Werkman in place a week earlier. She arrived on Tuesday and the kids are just thrilled to have a playmate that can actually move in an efficient manner. They have been very busy baking cookies, playing games, and tonight...a little hockey action took place on the backyard rink! Here are a few pics from the last few days!

Making Valentine's Day cookies.

Backyard hockey action!

Oh....I promise I will try to get some pregnancy pics on the blog in the next day or so. I must admit I am a little behind on this task, but I need to do this before it's too late! A friend of mine took a great picture today at a Valentine's party, so I will try to get this one on the blog too!

mischief?

Would you be worried to find these two laying on their bellies in a very odd spot, giggling away as if no one is paying attention to them? Uh...yes!
This is what I came upon this afternoon while I was making dinner. I soon discovered that they were playing trains...and my ottoman was a large tunnel. Funny. Isn't there a tunnel on the train board? And wouldn't it be more comfortable to use that tunnel instead of laying on the floor? Apparently not. Little did I know that the "game" involved crashing the trains under this tunnel, and that there isn't enough room to do that on a single track tunnel. Silly me. Now I will go and rescue the abandoned trains that are currently stuck both under my ottoman, and my chair. Kids. I guess one could call this creative play right?

what are we up to?

Well....not much really to be truthfully honest. Just the day to day standard business around here. Trying to prepare for the arrival of these babes would be the main task right now. Digging out all of the baby stuff and reminiscing on how Aidan and Maelle used to fit into and use this stuff, and wondering where the time has gone. It also is amazing at just how much stuff we have accumulated over the years since Aidan was first born. I caught myself tonight, as I watched Aidan and Brent playing hockey on our rink after supper, at just how much Aidan has grown up. I couldn't believe that the once little boy who spent many an evening and night cuddled up in our arms was now outside playing hockey (and doing really well) and scoring goals. Wow. I was having a bit of a hard time seeing this now 4 year old on skates, using a hockey stick, and skating as fast as his little feet would let him go. You always want them to grow up, but sometimes it would be nice just to freeze time for a bit to cherish some of these moments just a little bit longer.
Anyways....back from my little trip down memory lane....I was able to capture a few "kid moments" over the last few days that made me smile.
The invasion continues....
Getting a little crafty with some newly purchased finger paints.
Check out the concentration!
I love seeing the kids in moments like these. Totally engrossed in an activity and oblivious to what is going on around them. It really does make up for those moments or even days where all they seem to do is argue and fight. I need to always remember that "they are just kids!" Somedays however, it is easier said than done!
