Shari's New Boots!

How cute are these boots?
And yes....they are my very own!

I have never had such a fancy pair of rubber boots, but now that I am entering into the world of
gardening, I figure that I had better look the part of a serious gardener....well, a gardener with a little bit of personality that is! I think I also need something to splash in the puddles too! Why should the kidlets have all the fun?
Now....the only thing is, Brent hasn't seen my new "galoshes" yet. I can picture it though....first the eye roll...then the head shake...and then "as long as we don't go anywhere together!"....that's how it will go I am sure.
So...tommorrow, I will be heading out with the kidlets and their new boots, in search of puddles, and all things muddy!

the day to day....

Game on!

This is what Aidan and Maelle do on a daily basis when I am getting dinner ready. The game is called "Spoon Ball", very similar to hockey, just with wooden spoons and whatever ball happens to be available. I'd like to think that there is no body checking into the walls, but this is not the case. Maelle has been known to get a little agressive in the corners, and Aidan very rarely gets the ball....poor Aidan!

In search of the ultimate puddle!
(The kids got some new rubber boots today, so they had to try them out. I think I may have to go back and get the black with white polka dot ones just so I fit in with them!)

"Well....what are you waiting for? Let's go!"

an afternoon at Spruce Meadows

Thanks to some nice weather, we were able to get outside today and have a stroll around the grounds of Spruce Meadows. We wandered through the stables, visiting the horses, and we were actually able to sit and watch a little practice jumping in one of the smaller arenas. The kids had a blast, and the horses were a huge hit!

Aidan was able to teach Maelle a thing or two as well....

"...just like this Maelle....you find a good puddle, lift your foot really high, and stomp!"

"...the playground is just up here Maelle!"

"...gotta stop and make a quick call first!"

So, as you can see, Aidan is fulfilling his role as a big brother quite well. He is showing Maelle "the ropes" on many things, both the good, the bad, and the ugly!

a little early for St.Paddy's Day

Don't worry! I know it's a bit early to be celebrating
St. Paddy's Day, but Grandma Werkman sent these cute hats for the kids dress up area, and I thought we would have a little fun!

Thanks Grandma!

smooches

What Aidan does to get out of trouble...

....a whole lot of extra kisses for everyone!
Not to mention the "I love you's" that follow.
Now how can you stay mad at that?

you turn your back for one second....

...and look what happens!

So young, and so innocent they appear one moment, and then, when you least expect it....they are dancing on the table.
I think this was a direct result of the image below...

Ah yes....the yummy treats from the Valentine's Day party!
Don't worry.....there were some cute fruit bowls just out of the shot, but who wants to look at bowls of fruit when you have chocolate cupcakes with coconut icing and heart shaped jam cookies? Not me!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Sunday Afternoon's

What we do on Sunday afternoons!
Especially when it's a little snowy outside...
it's fun to snuggle up under the covers and read stories!
Hopefully it will warm up so we can go tobogganing!

...always time for a game of peek-a-boo!

a star in the making...

Yes....this is my little singer in the making! We have learned over the past few months that Maelle is becoming quite the performer. I picked up this "echo microphone" today at the dollar store and it has become quite the hit. Aidan has also taken his turn with a few renditions of "Old MacDonald's Farm" and the theme song to "Mighty Machines". Now...if I had been thinking at the store....I would have purchased two microphones, not one. Guess where we are going tomorrow?!

What to do when the weather is so cold.....

I'm bored!

What is one to do when the weather is too

cold to play outside?

Go camping!

We decided that after numerous days of cold weather and being unable to play outside, that indoor camping was the answer! We pitched the tent in the family room and the kids had a blast "camping" indoors. We even had a little picnic at our make shift picnic table for lunch. The weather looks a little better for the next few days, so hopefully we will be able to get outside to play in the snow.
