E- Learning In Malaysian University

E-learning is the online delivery of information for purposes of education, training, and knowledge management. It is also broader than online learning, which refers to purely Web-based learning. E-learning is gaining much attention, especially when world-class universities such as MIT, Harvard and Stanford and Oxford are implementing it.

From a student perspective, E-learning can save money, reduce travel time and also make the lessons more interactive. For example, a student staying at Penang would like to join the courses offered by UTAR at Sg Long. Without E-Learning, that student has to move to Sg Long just like all the students here. Moreover, relationships between the student and parent will farer and he couldn’t afford to go back his hometown every week.

Besides that, we will more self-initiated and self-paced as our motive is to acquiring more knowledge to widen the scope of view and to develop career skills in e-learning. E-learners are also able to adjust the time, location, and speed of learning according to their own personal schedule. It also can facilitate for students who may not wish to join face-to-face group discussion or participate in class, as e-learning can provide fear-free and privacy-protected environment.

Student is the most enjoyable job in this world, as there are no worries except studies. After adopting e-learning, there will be lack of free-to-face interaction and campus life. Besides that, additional tools need to be prepared as to provide support services for e-learning. This will costs additional money to students.

Without some human feedback, it may difficult to keep some students mentally engaged and enthusiastic towards e-learning over a long period of time.
Overall, to encourage e-learning to be the applied throughout Malaysia, there is still many problems to cope with as the technology over here is still not as advanced as compared to Western countries

e-Government (short for electronic government, also known as e-gov, digital government, online government or transformational government) is used to refer to the use of information and communication technology to provide and improve government services, transactions and interactions with citizens, businesses, and other overcome the physical bounds of traditional paper and physical based systems.

E-government is one of the seven flagship applications introduced in MSC. Under the e-government flagship, seven main projects were identified to be the core of the e-government applications.

The e-government projects are:
1. Project Monitoring System (PMS)
2. Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS)
3. Generic Office Environment (GOE)
4. Electronic Procurement (EP)
5. Electronic Services (E-Services)
6. Electronic Labor Exchange (ELX)
7. E-Syariah

CITIZEN ADOPTION STRATEGIES:
Citizens expect and demand governmental services with a high degree of quality, quantity, and availability in a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, and year-round fashion to adopt e-government. The government should increase the awareness of citizens in existing of their services provided in e-Government. A higher level of customer satisfaction will increase the rate of e-Government adoption because the citizens will be comfortable of the privacy and confidentiality of their information. Futhermore, the quality of the services should be competitive with the other developed country in terms of speed, problem serving approach, and the convenience use of the website. This is important as it provides and encourage long-term users to use the website frequently and cut-off paper work when the payment process can be made through online.

Thus, the success of e-government implementation in Malaysia is an important factor to determine Malaysia’s progress towards achieving vision 2020 and to build global bridges between Malaysia and other intelligent cities for mutual enrichment.

Prevention Is Better Than Cure

With credit cards within the reach of just anybody, the temptation to spend and then suffer is a growing cause of concern. Do you just want them so that you have a source of payment in emergencies, to shop occasionally online, or when you travel abroad? Or do you plan on going on a shooping spree and spending the rest of the year struggling to clear the balances?? Most people do not intend to ever max out their credit cards, but it is suprisingly easy to do, and can be difficult to undo....

Causes:

Spend, spend, and spend...

In fact don't, don't and don't...Spending on a credit card is borrowing money. It is a debt and must be repaid at some point. A smart card user only spends what they can afford.

Poor money management...

Poor money management is one of the best reasons that why so many families have accumulated many credit card debts. This is because people are unaware to conduct a
monthly spending plan and do not keep track on monthly bills. people have never realised their spending on the items that are less important. Thus, it has lead to a rise in debts by using credit cards.

Prevention:

The following are tips to be shared for handling credit card wisely:
  • use the credit card as a means of payment and not as a source of long term credit

  • keep only one or two cards

  • charge only what you can afford to pay back-avoid living beyond your means

But as with many things in life, when it comes to credit card debt, prevention is really better than cure. Therefore, users should spend wisely to avoid being declared a bankcrupt...

Application of pre-paid cash card

Smart Card is an electronic card containing an embedded microship that enables predefined operations or the adition, deletion, aor manipulation of information on the card.

In public transportation, if the trip requires a combination of cash and multiplt type of tickets and thus discouraging the use of public transportation. (story sounds like most of the metrobus..)

To eliminate the inconvenievce in the public transportation, smart cards have applied in transit fares. This card has a unique identification code and a predetermined cash balance and activating an associated account.

Touch n Go is also a smart card that applied in Malaysia in public transportation, but was yet widely been used here. It has been applied for LRT, KTM, highways toll and Rapid KL.

Myki, is another smart card that are currently using on public transport in Australia. But it was criticizwed as it was having inconvenience that it has to touch on ans touch off when Melbourne has difficulty getting all of its users to validate once. This function seems familias as Touch n Go right?

I believe that you heard about Octopus Card in Hong Kong drama series? It was launched in September 1997 to collect fares for transit system Besides that, it also for payment at convenience stores, supermarkets and even on-street parking meters.

There was many prepaid cash card that are applying in the world. And now, i was hoping that Touch n Go can also be applicable in eveywhere, not only limited for public transportation.
