*hello....my name is?*

so this is my third attempt at starting this post...
for some reason, i'm just totally at a loss of words! i think it's all tribute to the fact that i've been working on mental overdrive for the past few days.

easter.

it's meant to be a sacred holiday... yet some politics lecturer of mine manages to turn it into some crazy exam weekend! it's pretty wrong hey. but, thank goodness, i got it all done and i don't have to think about zealots, assassins, naradnaya volya or contemporary terrorism again until another 7 weeks.

work's going good. there's a new guy, he's still picking up the ropes. and a couple of people are transferring to different departments. gah. just means more workload for the rest of us. hahah. but hey, we're not afraid of hard work now are we? ;) it feels good to be responsible and it definately feels good being kept busy.

so! just a rundown on what's been going on the past couple of weeks. mum and dad had a shebang at the house. invited friends over. was kinda awkward at first coz i really didn't know anyone who was coming? but hey, it turned out pretty good, and of course, thanks to the wonders my mum's fantastic cuisine - the food absolutely rocked!

beef curry, ngoh hiang, garlic veggies with mushrooms, roast chicken, satay chicken with onions... oh the list goes on.

and as always, an amusing pic from the evening:

title: rach knifing me.
and she swears that it wasn't intentional!

and a final sentiment for the week. since curtin is flooded with asian imports (sorry if that sounds the least bit discriminatory), i guess the neccessity of this sign, stuck on the back of a toilet door, really is legitimized:

on second thought though, for a post-secondary tertiary institution... it is pretty appalling.

LOL!

it's about time!

haaah. so after being back for about 2 months now, i finally found the cord to link my camera to my laptop... and as a happy result - i was finally able to upload some of the pics that were on my camera's internal memory!

yay!

hahaha i would tell the long story... but it is pretty sordid. especially because it's a tribute to my excellently bad memory.

long story short, the one time that i really needed space on my camera, i conveniently left my memory card plugged into my laptop, and left my camera to have 16mb of internal memory to rely on.

butttt. nevertheless, the epitome of the night was still captured by this one shining moment.

ladies and gentlemen, i introduce to you: the high school musical on ice. proudly brought to you by the disney channel and toronto's rogers centre.

*loud applause*

pretty funny huh.

harsher realities

there comes a time in people's lives when they realize that they've achieved something that they're meant to achieved; they've lived through something they're meant to live through; they've experienced the uttermost of what they're supposed to experience.

no, it's not what you're thinking. i haven't had any life changing moment through this week, unless you count watching the entire season 6 of dawson's creek in one week. however, i guess that i just got hit by a truckload of thoughts on my way home today.

so how is it that some people seem so together and so collaboratively composed? as i was sitting on the bus today (yes people, i did bus it to uni today...OMG!), a whole bunch of high school kids got on. now the bus was filled to the brim, every seat taken. but after 5 minutes, a few people leave to get off. so this one high school chick sits down, next to a uni guy, introduces herself in front of all of her friends, and attempts to flirt with the guy. now this guy is not bad looking, but he's obviously somewhere in his 20s, which puts him at least within a decade or half decade above in age. yet, even though she's clearly inferior in age, she's still 100% comfortable exploiting all of her social skills to break the surface and to get to know this guy. needless to say, he pretty much shrugged her off, looked out the window and ignored her for the rest of the trip. but nevertheless, it proves the point.

for some reason though, i really did feel as if the bus ride today took me back about 5 years. i could still feel the exact feelings that i felt all those years ago when i was on a bus, headed home from churchlands. all the times of seeing people with those individualistic whims and their intense displays of independence, somehow it all just seemed too familiar.

okay, i'm being way too distracted by the tv now.

*pauses*

okay. so i wanted to anecdotally add something which happened one day last week.

raph and i were on our way home from work, me at the wheel. so we hit mitchell freeway after merging from kwinana, and in the direction of heading towards ikea, raph tells me to get off at grantham st, insisting that it'd be way faster than going through cedric. despite my vocalized oppositions and my burgeoning intuition which was yelling at me, telling me to take powis st, i decide to listen to my big brother with all his years of wise words.

so yes, i got off at grantham, only to face this on hutton:

good one raph!

but i might say now that yes he did conceed to his mistake, yet he still inadvertedly refused to photographically incriminate himself! okay okay. i shall stop baggin him now. =p

in any case, i really do think that this instance proved my intuition right! i gotta follow my gut more, coz each time i don't, i always live to regret something!

so on to the unregretted and the unanticipated occurances of strangely unficklemindedness - if that's even a word! =p

i had a blonde day

so i never really thought that lethargy could equal stupidity.

until today.

omg. the things i said and did! i really think i lost about 50 IQ points, all in the span of 7 working hours. LOL.

well anyway! it's been a while since i had time to post last, so here's a quick rundown on how hectic things have been in the last week or so:

after the chubs weekend, some of the girls came over for dinner at my place. nadia brought dough and filling, so we ended up eating paratha and curry! it was pretty awesome hey! i only just realized now though, that i didn't take out my camera, so we have no snaps of our kick ass dinner from that night. haha. =p but what we DID take pictures of, was our night of fun with good ol' uno stacko. for those of you who have no idea what that is, think jenga + a uno dice + numbers and colours. and there you have, uno stacko! check this:

me and trish and our rockin tower... although it was me and jas who had the awesomest alliance ever!! =p

nadia and jas laughing - which is what we did for most of the night.

how awesome huh! now the only reason why uno stacko surfaced again was because my dad decided to do some "spring" cleaning of our garage. for those of you who have been unlucky enough to witness that mess, you'd have seen that there were heaps and heaps of boxes. and tragic enough, uno stacko was hidden somewhere in there. but lucky for us, the fun of the 1990s are back again... to haunt us?

through the week, i've been working like crazy, and now that uni's up and running, i'm starting to wonder if it was such a good idea to sign on for so much stuff! i think i definately ought to cut back a bit in some area - now it's just a matter of deciding which area to cut! i'm so fickle, it really does suck.

oh sorry, i digress.

alrightey, continuing on from that dinner... after that, my family went out for dinner on the last day of cny. suprise suprise, we went to matsuri. it did seem like a contradiction of culture celebration, seeing that we were celebrating a lunar event whilst partaking in and consuming japanese cuisine and culture, but nevertheless, matsuri did not fail to please us! yum yum. i'm full just thinking about the food! hahah. somehow though, my family always ends up there when we eat out - it's quite bizzare.

after that dinner though, my memory skips a little bit. i just can't seem to remember what happened after that! i know that i went to a young adults camp a few weeks back, but everything starting from last week just gets a little hazy. one thing i DO remember however, is the tediousness of trying to upgrade my mobile plan! to keep the extra long story short, let's just say that i called in to soul a few times to no avail. they said they'd call back but didn't, and then on the one day i do have time to call, i call, talk to a consultant, ask to speak to a supervisor, get put on hold, and then get hung up on. but look at how long i was on hold for!

CRAZY!

needless to say, i was pretty peeved when i held for half an hour and then got hung up on. so, even now, i still haven't decided what i'm gonna do with my mobile plan. the idea of buying a phone outright seems appealing at the moment, but i can't seem to find a phone that i really really like. oh the committment issue.... again.

after that, my memory skips again, but i do remember lots of time at the office and quite a few hours in classes - and yes.. i did go to them!

so now for the lowdown on the weekend. saturday night was steamboat night. it was awesome fun. except for the fact that i was really tired, it was great to get everyone together again =) thanks to trish though for being so awesome. she came with me to shop for all the meat and stuff in the morning at like 10am on a saturday - that's pretty good considering that the both of us don't usually see morning light on a saturday morning. =p and then also to duyen and the others who helped to chop stuff and wash stuff. =))

here's some photos:

jas, luke and me... i'm so coupled out huh.

luke and his "beginners" luck... such a fluke that he caned everyone's ass at poker - the FIRST time he played. haaah.

the behs and tans: cheng, shell, lil, me, rach and raph

aww how sweet. ;)

all in all, the day went pretty fast, but it was so awesome just chilling and hanging out with everyone there. pity that mel and lassie couldn't make it though. =(

but speaking of lassie! on sunday night, we went to watch her dance concert! i gotta say, i'm pretty amazed at how they've managed to preserve such a sacred part of indian culture - the dances looked totally authentic and they gave off a really really ethnic feel!

lassie's the first on the left - she's gorgeous hey!

it got pretty funny/annoying coz the same girl (who happened to be the choreographer's daughter from toronto) kept coming out to dance! and her dances were really really long! by the end of it, we were sorta like.... "uh okay.. you can leave now"... lol. rude as that may be.... whooops!

after watching lassie dance, we went on to freo town centre and had dinner at cicerello's. yum yum. butttt, it was WAY too filling. we topped the night of with many laughs and baskins and robbins. or as geoff said it - baskins and wobbins. lol.

here's a few more snaps:

trish jas and me outside john curtin theatre

nadia and david at cicerello's... aww how cute. ;)

oh. and yesterday morning was pretty awesome too. playing for the youth worship is totally refreshing. and even though i only had 4 hours sleep the night before, it was awesome to connect with the songs and to really feel the passion being up there and playing. i totally felt the vibes! =D

so that just about describes my weekend and my week last week! so busy, so hectic. i just hope that i can keep this going for the whole semester. haha. =p however, if today's anything to judge by, then i'm a little bit worried. coz yeah, i just didn't make it to my class tonight. speaking of which, i should actually be there now. lol. =p the way i see it though, it is a public holiday (oh, happy labour day ppl =p), and i had a full-on weekend... there's always friday morning's lecture! =D hahah.

okay. so i'm pretty much versed out. so peace for now. =))

until next time!
