covet not

okay. here's the latest object of my desire:

i'm so sick of my old samsung that it think it's about time that i move out with the old and move in with the new! but now, i've just gotta figure out what plan i want.

so i've been on a tv binge the last few days. i've managed to watch one tree hill season 2, alias season 5, charmed season 2 and 3. and you know.. i'm getting kinda sick of it. it's weird because with all the job searching that i've been doing, i can't seem to find anything that i actually like. and it sucks coz i really do need a job like anytime now!

anyhow... the search still continues...

oh the changes

okay. so after getting back, shell and lil came over on sunday night, slept over... and we had one crazily funny night. for some reason we wound up playing monopoly at like 5 in the morning. and funnily enough, shell was having a seriously bad night and went bankrupt in like 10 rounds! and by that i mean 10 passes around "GO". hahah. she ended up bored whilst waiting for lil and i to battle it out... and in the midst of that boredom, she created her own bore-ville. hahaha.

haha. okay. so that was preeeety funny. we slept at like 6:30... and then woke up at noon. lol. such a nice day. hahah. ;)

okay. so carrying on in my week, i'm left with this thought: less than one week in perth, and i'm already experiencing a shock!

i really truly am amazed at how much can change in just 5 and a half months. so many new buildings have gone up, the new perth "subway" has opened, and even the cinemas have pre-seating now!! how psycho!

check this out:

utopia not only changed their cups, but they actually give order reciepts now! and they stick these little things onto your cup to designate what's in them - duh, coz the cups aren't transparent anymore! LOL. oh... AND they sell cakes, yoghurt and all sorts of savory breads! it's CRAZY stuff hey... =p

so this is at greater union @ the innaloo megaplex. lol! how hi-tech. and foreign too!

it's kinda funny though coming back home and experiencing a "culture-shock", especially when i only went away for such a short period of time! but re-adjusting has proven to be a little bit more difficult than i anticipated (see carolyn? you WERE right!).

anyhow, no matter how difficult things seem to be... it still doesn't change that perth is home. and it's just gonna take a little while for me to get comfortable again. that's alright though. i just gotta take it as it comes!

well well. as you can see, i went at saw 27 dresses tonight at the cinema with trish... it was such a good movie!! hahaha. so feel good. =p it was totally one of those movies that you walk away feeling refreshed from. it wasn't like those typical movies where it's girl meets boy, boy likes girl, girl hates boy but ends up loving him. lol. but instead, the characters had intense flaws that they were centered around. as in, they weren't perfect people, yet they were having fights over things that actually happen in real life. and what made it even better was the fact that i had recently been to new york - and i even recognized some of the places! it made it all the more real and all the more interesting. =D

all in all so far though, it's been a great week! and woohoo! it's australia day today! haha. should be fun, let's see what we get up to =p

home sweet home

"there's just nothing like home"

i think the numbness of being home has kinda affected everything. not to mention the jet lag! even though i spent a week in singapore, i can't imagine WHY i'm still tired! and my sleeping pattern has totally been thrown off. although, maybe it's gone to normal knowing that my sleeping pattern is usually whack anyway!

so anyhow. there's heaps and heaps to do, with an unlimited time, seeing that i'm not working or anything. lol.

okay so here's my list:
-get my car detailed
-find a new car (fyi, i'm soooo over hatchbacks)
-find a job
-update my resume
-clear all my stuff from around the house
-catch up with everyone
-sort out uni mixups

yeah that's about it ay. i'm somehow very unmotivated to get started on it all. i'm still on holiday mode i swear! and i really can't sleep enough. lol. speaking of sleep. i might go get some shut eye soon.. i'm pretty sleepy.. hahah. =p

but OH! you'll be glad to hear that i'm back in my cooking mood. hehe. shell and lil were over the other night and we made takoyaki! and then funnily enough we made a cheese, ham and onion pancake with the left over batter. it was pretty awesome. i gotta admit, it really satisfied my cravings. then today, i made a hedgehog slice. yum yum! but a tad bit too choclatey i think. i'll take a pic later and show ya. haha. =p

okay i'm leavin it here.

humidity is my worst enemy

singapore.

hmm.

it's been fantastic catching up with friends and family, but honestly? the humidity and the heat? it's just too much for me to handle! even just the idea of sweat dripping down your neck once you place one foot out the door is just absolutely disgusting. overall, it's put me in a mood of hibernation. whilst i'm not a pansy girl, being over here makes me feel fussy coz i just absolutely refuse to go anywhere for more than an hour if it's not air-conditioned! it's such a horrible feeling to feel indulgence as an obligatory measure.

anyhow! yes. the meeting up with friends and family has definately been the highlight of my singapore stop over. it's a wonder how some people just manage to stay the same no matter how they age and no matter how much circumstances change! it's definately a good thing in some respects, but it does make me wonder about what i once thought about change, and how it was supposedly inevitable.

but okay. holidays and vacation. i'm so unbelievably over it. i'm sick of unpacking my bag half-way, only to have to re-pack it just days later! i'm sick of the feeling of being on the move. i hate the feeling of planning my days as though they're preciously numbered and limited. i hate the feeling of not being able to just chill when i want to - not to mention the inability to just sit on my bum the whole day and just laze on the couch catchin up on my latest tv dvd box set.

but although these feelings are overwhelming, i'm also grateful to God for a lot of things. these past 5 and a half months have been unbelieveably fruitful. i've changed in many ways and i've grown and learn so many things. those things aren't just about myself and my limits, but also about the aspects in which i can change to be a better person, a better friend and a better sister and daughter!

it's been an absolute blessing to be able to have seen what i've seen these past 5 months. and it's been such a joy meeting all the great people that i now call on as friends. it's such a rewarding feeling when you're able to look back and see just how much God has showered tiny blessings of wrapped-up joy and immense hope! hope for a bright future and for traversable and borderless friendships!

i guess that knowing that my time of travelling and my time abroad is nearing the end, i'm reflecting and reminiscing a lot more. it's a nice way of counting my blessings and remembering all the good times. =))

anyhow! enough reflection for one night i think.

here are some pictures from the past couple of days. =)

me and rach at the ang mo kio hub
there's some suprizingly good shops here. hahah.

the amazing shop-naming abilities of singaporean hawkers.
gives me the thought: "you sell cooked food???? no wayy!"

nothing soothes a craving better than a cheese and onion prata from banana leaf. =p

my cousin ben, me and rach posing somewhere along orchard road. =))

i also got to meet up with carolyn =D

so i guess that i should probably mention that whilst i was in vancouver, i met up with corbin. hahah. but i wasn't really in a photo taking mood that day. and funnily enough, we said goodbye without taking a single photo of the both of us! hahaha. this snap was the best we had. lol...

funny huh. lol.

anyhow. i should probably crash now - i can't afford to have another lazy day tomorrow!

*icebreaker*

one word: whoops!

with all the travellin i've been doing over the past fortnight, i've kinda let my blogging slip! once again - whoops! and sorry! =p

buttttt, seeing as i'm flying off for singapore (leaving vancouver) tomorrow morning... this has to be a rather short post anyhow!

so just to keep you all up to speed on my travellin adventures (yes i know i really should change my blog template now that i'm technically not trapising in toronto anymore... lol!) but anyhow, forgive that transgression and let me go on to detail my travels for the past 2 weeks!

december 28-jan 2: NEW YORK BABY!

yes yes. rach and i hit up the big apple again. we ended up crashing at this "b&b", which in actual fact turned out to be less a bed AND breakfast, but more a room in a 70 year old woman's upper east side apartment. HAH. continental breakfast provided my ass. lol. one morning - it was one cold muffin, the next it was a cold plain croissant. i have no problems with either breakfast choice - so long as there's no deception involved! here i was expecting toast, OJ, and give or take bacon and eggs! lol. but oh well.. she's 70 huh. what can you say. =p

but all in all, the trip was pretty awesome. having been to NYC back in august when it was still hot and sticky, it was such a different feel to go back in late december/early jan when winter was starting to kick in. it was pretty cold hey! and when the wind started to blow? OMG. it was horrible. it took me two days to realize that i really needed to wear my north face windcheater in order to stay warm and toasty =p.

we also met up with a friend from back home - that was good. and we discovered 34th street a lot better than i would've liked. =p i'm totally sick of the herald square area now.. hahah. BUT soho was absolutely awesome. i'm so glad that i got to go back! and rach had a blast too.. hahah.

now new years was a funny story. since we were in soho that arvo, and we bought lots of stuff - we had to go home first to drop all our stuff off since they don't let you bring big bags into times square (yes... it really was our intention to go watch the ball drop at midnight). haha. so anyhow, by 5pm we were on the subway headed to times square to fight our way through the crowds. but to our dismay, there were SO many roadblocks! the police officers (who were really more of direction-givers that night), kept telling us we had to walk another couple of blocks over in order to get to get in... all in all we walked roughly 40 blocks (we started on the east side at 44th and 5th, walked down to 32nd, and then across to 8th ave... and up to 52nd. horrible huh). and in the midst of doing so, we were amongst about 1 million residue ppl... time square rejects really. hahah. so by the time we even got close to the times square area, they told us it was useless - coz times square had been closed off at 3pm! how stupid. lollll. so anyhow... we ended up watching the fireworks over central park from columbus circle... and it was pretty good too!

here are some snaps from the 5 days in nyc:

oh.my.goodness. i swear i got butch from carrying this bag all over! it was actually 26kg - plus another 10 from my smaller duffel! and getting it up on that rack on the train was absolute torture! all i can say is that i thank God for the kindess of strangers - particularly muscly guys.. haha. =p

we were SO lucky to have a sunny day... perfect for our east and hudson river happy snaps! =D

hahah. what can i say...

yes yes. it was like 3 degrees outside (i'm not kidding) and he was still naked... well.. sort of anyway. and some guy wanted to charge us 2 bucks to take his photo... i think he thought we didn't speak english. LOL.

so new york. starbucks and all.

new years eve - you can sorta see the fireworks in the background. =p such skill.

jan 3-11: vancouver/seattle/san fran
so after new york, we amtrakked it to buffalo, and then greyhounded it to toronto, and then caught a 6:30am flight out of toronto to vancouver. here, we've been spending time with our aunty and uncle! after a few days here we planned a trip down to the states - and we found a cheap flight going to san fran, so we decided to go! i'm so glad we did. it was GREAT! we roadtripped down to seattle on the 5th (saturday) and then spent the whole day there, we then stayed the night at an airport inn and then hopped on the morning flight to san fran!

it was great coz i got to meet up with sarah there too. =p and omg. people in san fran are sooooo much more stylo than in canada.. hahah. i mean, it's not that big of a suprize - but really... wearing my ryerson hoodie, i felt SO out of place. hahah. =p and the hills? omg. they really aren't kidding! you can stand at the bottom of the hill and just feel so unmotivated to move. hahahahah. =p

the 4 days in san fran were pretty much just spent sightseeing and shopping. =p i LOVE the states. hahah. low sales tax plus low retail prices = you can't beat it! hahah. i'm soooo definately coming back. i don't know if i could live here, but i'd definately love to holiday here again.

okay so i'm just gonna let the pics tell the story. =p

me and rach at seattle pike place public markets - how much more iconically seattle can you get?? lol.

san fran - we met sarah! this was outside our hotel on sutter.

the crazy hills... believe me. it's a million times worse in real life.. hahah. =p

hahaha. i love macys. =p

the infamous cable car! can you believe - it's $5 bucks one way!!! that's CRAZY. it doesn't even go that far... hahahahah. and it's REALLY noisy - even more noisy than the nyc subway, lol and i didn't even know that was possible! haha.

me standing on the cable car - it's pretty scary hey!

yes yes.. it's alcatraz!!

from the short cruise over to the island - sarah and me with the san fran skyline.

alcatraz "the rock" penitentiary island

the audio tour that took us around the actual prison - a great idea... but the tour was kinda freaky. and like i said at the beginning, i just don't do prisons.

lolllll. so there was an initial tour guide who told us "fun facts" as we were walking up the 4 hills to the top. whilst he knew heaps of gd stuff - he just didn't know when to stop. lol. we were standing there for AT LEAST half an hour.. and it was cold too.

the painted ladies victorians @ alamo square - full house!~ and whilst i mention that... did you know that it's still showing over here in canada? LOL.

japantown! hahaha. so cute.

cup. of. fat. i seriously have not drank anything which was so toxically fatty. *shudder*

hahahha. and i just HAD to snap this when i saw it on a street lamp post in chinatown in san fran. =p just for luke. hahaha.

so! that pretty much sums up my two weeks! hahahaha. so much for a SHORT post ay?

anyhow! i now really really really gotta get back to packing.. hahah. =p got a tonne of stuff to stuff into my bag. hahahah. wish me luck!

let the adventures continue i guess. =p
