still got my touch!

you know, i could swear that time is going by faster. really! it's just zooming on by! can you believe i've already been over here for 2 and a half months? weird hey!

mmm. anyway! so here's a speed up about my weekend. =)

friday was quite productive! which is a total change from what i've normally been like. LOL. so i actually managed to finish my assignment on friday arvo, which meant that my weeked was freed up a little bit more. =) oh! and it was also kev's birthday on friday... so andrea and i went out for dinner with him and some of his friends from back home in ottawa. =) we went to a place along yonge... AND! it was all-you-can-eat jap! hahah. AND! for only 20 bucks i actually think it was worth it. although, i gotta admit, the service sucked soooo bad. lol. we ended up waiting longer than the time it took us to eat! and you know, that's NEVER a good thing lol. but yeah, the food was quite good (even if they did bring us the wrong thing) and it was good company too. =) i did feel pretty sorry for the waitress - she was the only one serving ALL the customers! i would've been really really stressed ay. mmm. well anyway, after that. i came back to the primrose.. and then went out again to play pool with carolyn. hahah. soothed my craving i think. =p

saturday was a good day too. =) started with a call to the chubs! hahah. it worked out really well hey - even if i did have to wake up at 5:30am for them! hahaha it was totally worth it ;) it was very sweet because they were all going out for dwen's birthday and so they were all in one place! hahah. how convenient huh. and it also made me realise two things:

(1) i haven't heard their voices in SO long and
(2) i really really really miss them!!!

but yeah.. it was really good to actually SEE them - hahah we skyped. and to hear their voices. =p although, i think we're all still in need of a good ol' catch-up session. hahah. but yeah here's a pic!

the chubs: lassie, trish, duyen, jas, nadia and me...
pity that mel is missing in this pic... only coz she's the one taking it!! sorry mel!

hahah so after chatting for about 40 or so mins, they had to go coz they were heading out for dinner... so after saying gdbye, i called my mum and had a good chat with her. hahah. by the time we finished, it was about 8:30ish? so i went back to bed before heading out to chinatown with xinying and carolyn... we had lunch at a char siew and roast port restaurant. this is the dodgy bit - i ordered chicken and duck congee right. and they took AGES to bring it out. then when they finally DID bring it out, it was totally not what i was expecting! i mean, the actual congee was good... but the chicken and the duck! OMG. it was like bony pieces!!! i could swear that i thought that they peel the chicken/tease it when they serve it as porridge... just seems really weird hey. and knowing me, i'm just not a good meat-eating-off-bone kinda person... lol. i have issues with spitting out the bones you know? lol.. so yeah, even though it was yum - it was still a pain in the ass and i would never ever order congee from them again. LOL.

after that "eventful" lunch, we headed to do our grocery shopping. now this is an outing in itself... and anyone who's been to spadina would probably agree. lol. and saturday totally proves a bad day to do grocery shopping lol. i.e. encountering hundreds of pushing and shoving old auntie/tai tai/bad-mood azn ladies... not really my idea of easy! nor nice hey. kinda... frustrating actually. lol. they kept pushing-in in the cashier line!! and since they're "older" AND azn AND female... i really didn't feel safe saying anything, so i kept my gob shut. lol. =p so after getting it all done - took us over an hour to get everything hey... we hopped a cab back to the primrose.

so you all know my love for cooking and my usual routine back home where i would cook pretty frequently right? well uncharacteristically, apart from one meal (where i cooked laksa - wahahhahah =p), i haven't cooked at all! and no, instant noodles really don't count. haha. SO! i decided that i was going to cook. hahah. annnd for some strange ass reason, i felt like cooking curry!! so, that morning in chinatown i bought all the stuff i needed... and yes indeed - curry it was for dinner!! =D

okay, so i've cooked curry before many times back home, but over here it felt slightly different. you know, different pot, different utensils, different curry powder... just everything different! with a little help from corbin (who taught me the SMART way of chopping an onion), it actually turned out really really well! i was so glad. AND i'm even more glad that i had friends to share it with. =D

yes yes. i KNOW i have curry on my face... LOL.

mmmm. doesn't it look GOOOD? hahahah.

our dinner: chicken curry/choy sum and cabbage fried with oyster sauce and garlic/bread

myself, sarah, xinying and carolyn

one thing we found really amusing was the fact that the four of us somehow ended up hanging out - and weirdly enough, we've all got some sort of ties to singapore! LOL. and as much as i hate to admit it... yes, after all, i guess i am kinda s'porean... but only BY DESCENT of course!! haha. =p

annnywayyyy, after the yum dinner, we just sat around and talked... we talked for hours and hours and hours! it was so good just to sit back, chill and hang out with like-minded friends! hahha. we had many many laughs and i realized a lot of things too. =p the company was absolutely fantastic. =D

then came sunday. sarah had invited me to go check out a church with her - a friend in one of her classes had invited her. and since i'm over here, and i know i'm not gonna find a home church or anything like that, i thought, "why not!" so we went! the church was quite far away - about 40 mins by subway and was on the outskirts of the City of Toronto. =) it was a nice subway ride hey, didn't feel too far either! anyhow, the service was an afternoon service and it turned out to be a youth service. now not knowing what kind of church it was, or what kind of congregation it had - i was incredibly suprized! pleasantly too! hahaha. the first thing i smelt when i walked into the church lobby was: kimchi. YUP. you guessed it - the church was a korean church! hahaha. of course the youth service was all in english and everyone there spoke english. hahah. they were so nice! so welcoming! so hospitable! it was great to be in the midst of christians hey. the message was awesome too! really clicked something inside of me and addressed a lot of things that i had been thinking about lately too. it was such a good message! i walked away feeling really inspired and really encouraged =) such good Word.

after the service and after mingling a bit, they invited us to join them for "lunch". hahah by this time it was about 3:30pm so it really wasn't lunch.. but we were all hungry anyway hahah. we ended up eating vietnamese pho. yummmmm. =p again, the company was really good! funny how you can be so comfortable with people who you've only JUST met. hahaha. it was truly a God-thing. =) after eating and hanging out, since they were headed to U of T, which is in the downtown area - they dropped us home. so nice right?? especially when we were pretty far out of the downtown area! it just makes me appreciate God's people even more! it's fantastic to come 10,000+ miles away from home and still feel at "home" with "strangers", esp because you know you've got a common bond! i really am thankful hey!

so yes. this weekend was great!! it really did just make me realize that i've got so many things to be thankful to God for! He's with me every step of the way - i know it. =D

is the sky really the limit?

so you know when bad stuff happens to you? and you just end up having to deal with it? one way or another..? well. i want to be a person who's good at handling adversity. but sometimes i wonder whether or not i can be. sometimes when things pile up, i try my best to suck it in and just deal with it on my own... journal when i can, say it out loud when i can - but still i'm left with the residue.

i guess it's good to have downs. gives you an up to look towards.

*over the hill, and far away, lies... contentment*

when your hair gets eaten by the hairdryer...

LOL. okay so funny incident today.

so, my hair felt totally gross - even though it actually looked okay.. so as soon as i got back from class (from leaving early i might add) and finished talking to family back home, i jumped straight into the shower. now the shower was totally refreshing! and can i just say - it's soooooo goood to feel clean. hahahah. so yes. i got out of the shower (obviously), and came out... and combed my hair leaving it to dry. now after watching two eps of buffy (yes, i bought seasons 1,2 and 3 - wahahah - but there's another story there), i decided to get started on some work. weirdly enough after these 2 hours, my hair still hadn't dried - so i went to use the hairdryer. now as you can tell from the title? MY HAIR GOT EATEN BY THE FREAKING HAIRDRYER!!! there i am, blowdrying it as per normal... and before i know it - it just sucked it up! and meanwhile i'm there, yelling at myself (my reflection more like it), trying frantically to turn it off!! now being all in a panic, i kept pushing the wrong buttons... and SO, about 10 LONG seconds later.. i start smelling smoke...

not good.

so then....! i start panicking even more - and try to pry my hair from the hairdryer. by this point, i've managed to turn the stupid thing off.. and so now i'm just yanking the freaking appliance away from my head. OMG. it hurt!! and not only that, yes, i've been bountifully blessed with a full head of hair - but now i've got short yappy bits at the back of my head - gee.. no thanks to the freeeeakkin hairdryer! lol.

*sigh*

so long story short, and the moral of the story?
(1) don't grow your hair as long as mine
(2) know where the off button is
(3) read the manual to the hairdryer so you can:
(4) keep the recommended 15cms AWAY from your head

well. now i'm off to tender to my wounded - hair strands of course!

tata,
-pheebs.

whatever indeed.

hahahha. i discovered this cute little girl whilst blog-hopping.

now she's got the right idea. =p

so like i said.

whatever indeed.

heheh. =p

OMG! so. the photos probably give it away... butttttt. GUESS what I did last night!!. heheheh =p

yes yes. it was the raptors vs the bulls!! =D hehehehe. sweeeeet. it was awesome being a part of the crowd hey - some ppl were really really getting into it! and yes, even though i went as a bulls supporter, the raptors did win... and the cheering was insane!! =p soooo. here's some pics and some commentary!

the group: xinying, andrea, luke, sarah, me, carolyn and sophia

let's get ready to rumbleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. hahha. you get the picture. =p

hahah. this is sooooo inaccurate! hahaha. i SWEAR i'm more than 5 foot. loll!!

hahaha. even though we were at a raptors game - half of air canada centre was still dedicated to the toronto maple leafs. hahah. =p

yes yes. just us aussies. hahaha.

the cheerleaders - but wait.. what did they call themselves? the dance pak? hahaha.

toronto taking a pentalty shot. omg. the fouls from the bulls just kept coming and coming and coming and coming! lol. so violent. haiyah.

the group again - this time with kevin in it too, he was taking the other pic i think..

hahahhaha. this dude was classssssic! i wish i got a good vid of him shouting. random azn beer selling guy yelling "coarse" or "canadian"? ....i think? but either way, he was a funny ass dude - and very deserving of a spot here on my blog. hahah!

hahah well! after the game, we were hungry. so we marched on over to queen st west and got us some kick-ass crepes at this really awesome crepe joint. hahah. no joke, they're HUGE! and they fully pack it with really chunky fillings! last nite... i had nutella, strawberries AND bananas. hehehe it was awweeeeesome =p hahah. and i'm really not exaggerating. haha. but yes. we did kinda walk it off so i don't feel so guilty. =p

anyway! it was a really good night overall.. ended earlier than expect it - don't you hate it when that happens? hahah. but yeah - definately something that i'll remember. hahahah.

anywaaayys. it's late. gonna crash!

-nite-

pheebs.

one down

sometimes i wonder how i ever get things done! and more often than not i feel like i let things slip and i just get lazy and "forget" to do things - which really isn't such a good quality to have now is it! do you ever get so caught up with thinking about how things SHOULD be, so much so that you temporarily forget how things actually ARE? i think it's a process of actualisation which i'm yet to "discover". LOL.

okay well enough of that. so you'll be glad to know that i've FINALLY actually completed one assignment. hahah. for a couple of weeks now i had been feeling really weird because it seemed that everyone around me was working so hard, churning out assignments and having tests and what not - when all i've done up til now is write my communication class tasks each week (which i must admit are pretty darn easy). lol. so the assignment was so summarize 2 articles and write about how they connect. sounds simple enough right..? WRONG! lol. the catch of the assignment was that both articles were roughly 2000-3000 words long, which in total gives you 4000-6000 words to summarize. and worse - the word limit for the assignment was only 750 words!! how stupid huh. lollll. so basically, you had to summarize each article in 300 words, and then spend 100 words on showing the connection between the two. AND the professor for this unit is extremely well read, and i have a feeling he expects a "higher" standard of analysis. so anyway, after thinking about the assignment (it had a rolling due date hence the flexibility), for the longest time - i sat down, and just churned it all out. hahhaha. here's a little exerpt:

'These two articles were printed in the New York Times and were part of the series, ‘Class Matters’. Both articles make similar judgments about the prevalence of the class structure in American society and the implications of status and wealth upon the education and healthcare systems... The widening gap and disparity between the rich and poor is accentuated by both articles as they similarly conclude that class status predetermines access and equity to both education and healthcare in American society.'

hahaha. sounds fun right? LOL.

okayy. next topic! haha. i forgot to post up some pictures from sunday, when we went out to spadina [chinatown] for dim sum. =) i made some pretty funny observations and discoveries too hey. =p enjoy!

me with the FIRST HALF of the food =p

the girls: sarah, andrea, xinying and carolyn. yes.. i'm the one taking the photo. haha.

nice and pricey. NOT. lol. but we did manage to plough our way through a tonne of food. kekeke =p

look! =p this is just ONE aisle of like... the 10 or more. hahah. the chinese shops here are soooooo much bigger than the ones at home! hahah. AND i gotta admit, i felt so at 'home' once i was in there hahah. weird huh.

remember these??? hahahhaha! brings back memories hey! =p i swear that i grew up on these. hahah. and plus there's the whole gold-moment-memory of having to run them under water because they were just sooooo sour! hahahah. =p

funny huh. =p i think that chinatown is probably gonna be one of the top things that i miss once i'm back home. hahah. there's just streets and streets and streets of azn grocery men shouting, market-style shops with super super cheap fruits and vegies, overcrowded stores packed full of pirated vcds and dvds, and not to mention the tantalizing chogie food!! it's all just so authentically blended together and compacted into it's own district! beautiful. absolutely beautiful. hahaha. =)

alrightey! i'm off - got a tonne of work to get through and i gotta make up for time lost on our lil shopping outing this arvo. hahaha!

byee!

-pheebs.
OMG! what a discovery. hahah. thanks rach!! =p

so i'm now officially addicted to elliot yamin. hahah. =p AND we're now going to his concert!! hahahah =p woot. check him out!

hahaha. he's got such a kick ass voice. =p and better yet, when he was on idol - he sang my favorite song!! so of course, i just HAD to put it up. hahaha.

hehehe. =p yes, it's home, originally performed by michael buble.

hot huh. hahahahaha ;)

bitten by procrastination

okay! so you'll be glad to know that i've come to terms with the crappiness of my hair, and after this long sentence i shall never mention it again, but since i figure, i'm asian and duh, i was born with black hair - i might as well get in touch with my roots, yes? (no pun intended).

so! onto a description of the past couple of days. oh, this should be easy coz i can say it in two words and a photo:

i'm. hooked.

i'm such a sucker. LOL.

so i bought season 3. gah! figures that i reaalllyy should find something a little more productive to buy. but once again, i think my achilles heel has been unveiled. i'm not sure what it is exactly - but i just can't seem to stop myself from buying these box sets! hahaha. i mean, okay so i've not exactly TRIED coz it's a hobby of mine - but i really take pride in having a growing collection. so anyway, grey's. i LOVE cristina and burke. if i could, i would cut the episodes to just the scenes where they're in it. and i'd watch it over and over and over again. hahahahah =p they've got one heck of a messed up relationship, but still! i absolutely LOVE watching them!! like, his love for her is pretty transcendent. and whilst she's got issues with verbalising and expressing how she feels - you can totally tell that she loves him too! the way they act - it's sooooo funny and so awesome to watch. hahah =p but don't be thinking that they're a modular couple in any way though - coz don't you reckon it'd be totally painful to be a part of a relationship like that? LOL.

well, my days have beeen ending at like 4 or 5am each day so far since i bought it - definately NOT a good thing. esp when i went to class yesterday morning and was preeeeety humiliated when my lecturer (who know's i'm from australia), turned to me and said "so - is it the same back in austrlaia?" and just as he looked at me, my eyes were closed and i was leaning on my elbow - taking a shut-eye. LOL. as soon as i heard australia, my eyes PRYED open and there i saw him, looking directly at me, eyes wide open - WAVING and saying "helloooooo?" LOL!!! i was soooooooooooo embarrassed!! hahhah. i quickly said "oh, yeah yeah. it is", whilst nodding frantically. hahahah. i think that that moment all of a sudden got pushed to number ONE on my 'most embarrasing moments' list. lol. and as you know - yes, that list is LONG. hahahaha.

alrightey! well, to be honest, i started this post yesterday - but then got distracted bcoz i went down for dinner, then ended up going out with some girls from the primrose to watch a movie down at bloor. it was funny because even though we jumped on the subway and went there - i didn't actually know what building we were headed to! then when we passed a sign thing - i saw "manulife center".. i was like "oooooooh"! hahah. COZ, when you're at dundas square and you look south towards queen st, you can always see the manulife center logo... hahah. so yeah - that was quite funny to me. =p

it was pretty okay - but i'm definately not rushing back to see it any time soon. =p

so now it's getting reeeeealllly chilly outside - day and night. and i'm starting to get a little bit worried for when the real winter comes. lol. but anyhow, a couple of nights ago when i was out late and was walking back towards the primrose, i saw these people putting up christmas decorations in the golden diner (which is just outside of the primrose). i remember thinking to myself "gee, that's strange... i guess they like to start their holiday season early!" lol. i wasn't complaining coz i LOVE looking at christmas decorations and i absolutely LOVE the holiday season! so anyhow, i remember thinking that, then walking past - forgetting about it. so yesterday morning, as i was heading out on the way to class (it was preeety cold btw), all of a sudden, there were all these trucks/vans lining the beginning of mutual st and just along carlton... and there were big lamps, there were fences and all of these drapery things which they use for filming! turns out they were using the golden diner to film another movie =p. so make this one what, number... five i think? hahaha. this picture isn't very good - coz i didn't really wanna get stares from the crew, but yeah - you kinda get the idea.

i gotta say, it's kinda cool being here in toronto =p hahaha.

so anyway! one last thing that i know i've forgotten. it was a long weekend last week (hence the trip to ottawa). and monday was actually thanksgiving! now even though we were back in toronto by then and we technically didn't celebrate much - i still ended up having TWO thanksgiving dinners (technically anyway) hahah. the first was just downstairs (it was part of our meal plan)... and since we were heading out to meet some people (we got hungry and gave in and ate first), we ended up being in the midst of another thanksgiving at their place. =p so here's the nice "little" turkey which sacrificed its life for us, and was tragically really really really yum.

okie... so i just remembered something else, haha. on wednesday night by chance i met sarah, another girl who's staying here at the primrose, over dinner. and by chance she mentioned that she was headed to an inter-varsity christian gathering. this was totally a God-thing coz i had just been thinking about finding out more about the christian campus movement! so, needless to say, i went along with her - and i am so glad that i did. it was great to be in the midst of other people who believe too, and i was so glad to just be sitting there discussion things from God's Word! i'm really really glad that i went =)

so that just about sums up my week and all that's been happening! hahah.

well, now i'm off to get some work done! hope you had a good week!

until next time,

-pheebs.

oh no!

okay at the risk of becoming a crazy blogger person. i just needed to say this:

WHAT was i THINKING!?!?!?!?

bugger.

on impulse, i dyed my hair last week - and as you can see from prior photos, it went wayyyyyy too copper and about 10 shades too blonde! (you know it's too light when your hair and your eyebrows are a distinctively different colour). lol! so after getting weirded out by it through the week and over the weekend, i dyed it again tonight.. and crappit! now it's just TOO DARK!

honestly? i haven't had hair this dark since year 9... when my dying rituals first began. oh dammit. i should've known better!

gahhhh. why isn't there any balance in this world? =(

*sob*

such clarity

it's been a while since i've read a poem, and walked away thinking "wow - that's new". this poem certainly did that. and funnily enough, at the core, it's almost like a self-help book.

how does he manage to have instruction and consternation; revelation and promise; and yet subtlety and ingenuinity?

it's amazing.

well, here it goes.

"if" by rudyard kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
It you can wait, and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the samel
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broke,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - not lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

wow. it really is something that i got all *pensive* over. revelatory beginnings i think.

i really hope you enjoyed it just as much as i did. and oh. it does get better the second time you read it. =))

jet,
-pheebs

what a lazy day

so, i haven't had one of these lazy days in quite a while lol! and yes, it was quite refreshing..!

so i did say yesterday that i was knackered as hell and that i really needed to catch up on sleep because i had like 3 hours on friday night, and then only like 2 on saturday night. so yes, my oversleeping WAS warranted! i ended up KO-ing at about 2am... AND i ended up waking up today at like... 5pm! hahahahha. felt like one of those sleeps back in the day after i'd try to "recover" from camp... lol! it really was such quality sleep. =D

after waking up, andrea and i headed to her friend of a friend's place to spectate in their thanksgiving dinner. i must admit though that amongst all the indos, i felt quite out of the boat and even though they did speak english - it just wasn't quite the same. hahaha. but either way, it was nice to be amongst people who didn't have family here and were eating the holiday away with friends. =)) after "dinner", and kinda getting lost on our way back - we somehow ended up along parliament street and in a hazy 'hood of drycleaners and hobos, thank goodness we managed to hail a cab and hopped it back to the primrose. hahaha. after that little adversity, we ended up at frans for apple pie, milkshakes, onion rings and a sundae with corbin and preston (they live in the primrose too), and i gotta say... that was one of the BEST milkshakes i've had yet! hahaha it was sooooo thick and creamy. hahah. just the way i like it. =D

aweesommeeee.

me... and then corbin creating a facebook moment.

preston being preston, and by that i mean mug-shotting.
and andrea being andrea. LOL.

so yeeeeap. now it's hitting 4am, and i'm still buzzed and not tired. bugger.
i'm gonna try doing the reading trick... or maybe counting sheep will help!

either way, i'm off... =D

jyaa.

-pheebs.

woohoo... hellooooo ottawa!

wow! yesterday went by sooooo fast! i can't believe that just yesterday morning, i jumped on a bus to get to ottawa.. and now 40 hours later, i'm already back in toronto with some really funny ass experiences and memories which i'm sure will last for quite a while (to say "a lifetime" seems to be a bit too cliche. hahah). the bus ride up there actually wasn't so bad, although it was just WAY too early to be up in the morning. we left the hotel at about 6am, and even after the bus left at 6:45am-ish, the sun still hadn't risen! we got to ottawa at about 11:45am - which was earlier than scheduled, so we waited for a while for kevin to pick us up. it really was so sweet of him and so nice of his parents to let us crash at their house. their house was really really nice! AND it just made me miss suburbia even more! but you know, it was totally strange to be driving around ottawa, KNOWING that i was in ottawa, but yet some of the streets and a lot of the infrastructure was just unbelievably similar to perth!! just imagine east perth and even bits of north perth (around fitzgerald street) and yeah, that's what a lot of ottawa looks like.

so something funny - everytime i've heard locals talk about ottawa, they always end up emphasizing the fact that it's just a hole where there's nothing to do and it's a quiet town where it's slow and boring. LOL. whilst i can see why people who live there would think that - i really really liked the place! i thought it had the perfect blend of victorian-meet-modern architecture, and just enough shops and scenery to make it a really really interesting visit! i'd definately go back, i just wish that i would still be here on the east coast in january - maybe then i could go back to ottawa - just to ice skate along the canal - it's sooooooo beautiful!!

so we did some serious sightseeing yesterday - we were quite efficient too! and OMG. it was sooooo cold! lol. i must admit though, after we had a bite to eat at hard rock, i was feeling a bit queasy, so the cold seemed to help lol. we ended up walking around the downtown area - we saw the rideau (frenchy word that's pronounced ree-dough) centre, sparks street (which is apparently haunted?), parliament house (which was absolutely gorgeous!), government house, chateau laurier, this hill where you could see the bridge to quebec and then the eternal flame. i gotta say. people used to say montreal was the city of lovers outside of paris - but somehow, ottawa seemed to be a much more romantic place! not because there were lots of couples around, but seriously, the street lights and bridges and just the way the streets are (like the sidewalks), were just so perfect for a romantic stroll! hahaha.

after walking around town for most of the arvo, and after doing all that avid sightseeing (whilst freeeeezing our butts off), we got some bubble tea (hahahah!) at bubblecity in chinatown - the place was packed hey, seems like the bubble tea phase is still thumping loud and clear in ottawa hahah. =p this next bit was actually quite funny - see, we went to the casino in a place called hull. okay so that's not the funny bit... the funniest part IS, that as we were driving there, i TOTALLY didn't realize that we had crossed the provincial border from ontario into quebec!! and even more DUH, i didn't even notice how the signs were all in french! hahahah. i felt sooo thick. hahahah. =p the drive wasn't too long either - it's quite weird how downtown ottawa and downtown hull are so close - only a bridge and maybe, 25 minutes away... so the actual casino was preetty good but it really wasn't that much different to burswood, so i guess it wasn't too special. loll. after hitting the cas, the rest of the night went by pretty quickly hey, but it really was full of humour, laughs and some absolutely outrageous fun. so anyway! we took lots of pics along the way, although, i must say that our 600-photo record at montreal still stands. hahah. sooo! here's just a few of the pics. =))

luke, andrea and me at 6am yesterday morning

this is us on the ottawa U campus - i love fall. the fallen bronzy leaves add a touch of class to the surrounding scenery. =p

us at the parliament hill (or something like that) with the parliament house in the background. so beautiful!

lawrence, luke, me, andrea and kevin at the world war one memorial statute

me in suburbia! aren't the houses pretty?? AND! the ultimate canadian/australian difference - check out the wooden housing structure in the background. we don't build houses like that do we..? i'm pretty sure that we use brick... hahah.

soooo! overall, the trip to ottawa was a blast - and it was TOTALLY worth it. hahah. pity though that we only got to stay the night. and what's even more pathetic is that the only reason why we came back early was because we all needed to study for our exams/assignments that are due on tuesday... and as it turns out - none of us seem to have done anything! lol! i guess we should've known better hahaha =p

anyway! it's definately time for me to sleep. hahah. mmmmm. sleeep. never sounded so good. hahah. =p

nite!

luv, pheebs.
OKAY!

just a quick entry now... it's 5:12am and i'm up and suprizingly i'm really *ding* awake!! hahahahah. it's INSANE! last nite, i was nice enough and i gave up my bed so luke could sleep - and since it really was only 3 hours (i slept at 1:30 and had to wake up at 4:30), i lay my towel on the floor, grabbed an extra pillow, and power napped. and seriously - this was some of the most quality sleep i've gotten since leaving home! it's awesome!!

hahah. okay i just thought i'd say that - and blog just before i head off to ottawa. andrea, luke and myself are headed down there to spend today and tm "adventuring" canada's capital. hahahah! the reason as to why we're headed there is pretty unclear at the moment, seeing that everyone (who's NOT an ottawa native) has said that it's a hole, and just like canberra... but i think i've got some faith... hahahhaa, there's bound to be SOMETHING there!

okay okay. so wish us luck, and journey mercies!

well! a few eventful days yet. and here i'm left wondering and in a total state of... well, let's just say, 'amazement'.

let me start off with wednesday morning. after a late-ish night on tuesday, i just couldn't get to sleep. i managed to doze off by about 4am... which really didn't bode well for my 9am start. so i had set my alarm for 8.. but instead of setting it for 8AM it was set for 8PM! sooooo obviously, morningtime, my alarm didn't ring! butttttt. since every wednesday morning i have an in-class test, i ended up missing a test. i did jump out of bed at 10:20, and i went to the lab to wait for the class to get there - but no one showed. so i'm not sure whether to think that the test was cancelled or if it was just done at another location. either way, it doesn't bode well for me and my marks - but i emailed the prof just to be on the safe side. i'm still pretty peeved at myself. i'm usually not that irresponsible! grr.

so annnywayyyyy. i spent the rest of the morning in the lab, chatting online. anndd nadia was so sweet! she actually called me! hahaha. =p very pleasant suprize hehe. we had a good chat too. =) after talking to nadia, i walked back the primrose to bum for a few hours before heading out to meet andrea and kevin at the eaton centre, and then to see natasha bedingfield.

lol. now to be completely honest, i don't really like her that much. hahah. i've never really listened to her songs at all, so the idea of going to watch her concert got a pretty "meh" reaction. it was funny because there was a chick on campus handing out free body wash and free access passes (which turned out to be useless coz they let pretty much everyone in anyway)... so yes you guessed it - i took it just for the FREE body wash! hahahahaha. oh, i didn't even look at the access pass thing until carolyn mentioned it to me - only THEN i realized that hey, i got a free pass to somewhere! hahaha. but yes. it was funny because i didn't think anything of it - and didn't plan to go, until i mentioned them to andrea - she was fully psyched! hahaha. soooo yes, we ended up going - and i must say it was pretty good. not really enough to convert me to a natasha bedingfield fan... hahaha. but still - it was pretty good. hahahah. =p anyway, so here's some pics:

a picture of the pure divine concert and promotions at dundas square from outside the eaton centre on yonge - such a happening place. wahahahha ;)

me, kev and andrea - we took another one that had kev with a straight face, but uh, i lived up to my expectations and had my eyes closed. hahah! ;)

andrea and i at dundas square

the crowd and natasha on stage - she's got a kick ass live voice btw.

a pic of a girl and her friends - it was her sweet 16th so she held a sign, natasha saw it, and ended up singing her happy birthday. how sweet. =p

so! after the concert, we got hungry (or rather I got hungry) and i was really craving for korean bbq - so we hit korean grill house. yum yum yum. hahaha! and weirdly enough, they had green apple bt on their list! this is bizzare bcoz no joke they only had a list of 5 flavours. so need i express my suprize that my favorite flavour was on there? i mean - it's supposed to be a rarity! hahaha. but yes, nevertheless i was happy! although, i don't think it's quite elation you see on my face - could be a reaction to the sugar. hahah it was sooooooooooooooooo sweet. hahah.

okie! well that just about updates you with the happenings of my wednesday. hahah. today was a lazy day so i really don't have much to say. hahahahah. =p

tata.

*have you ever had one of those days where you feel SO good, but SO bad at the same time?*

well. i had one of those days today.

let me elucidate.

so after class (my most frustrating class i might add - and i'll blog about that later), i met up with carolyn and we went for lunch at salad king (which happens to be a thai place, lol, go figure?). feeling in the mood for some spice, i ordered a "hot thai noodles" and i chose 10 chillies as my spicy level. baaaaaaaaddd choice. seriously? the noodles were just soooo HOT and SPICY so that my tongue was absolutely flaming - and the waitress really couldn't give me enough water. in the end, i only ate about 10% of it and decided to ta pao the rest of it. lol! so after that lunch "fiasco" i was left still feeling hungry, but with a flaming hot tongue. red. scorching. and just an overall painful experience. here's a snapshot of it:

so after the "eventful" lunch, we hit HMV and then eaton. and let me tell you now. i was having SUCH a good try-on-clothes day today. everything that i picked and tried on LOOKED and more importantly FELT really really really good! i could easily have racked up a $400-500 dollar bill on my credit card. but yes, thankfully, God gave me a sense of responsibility and a sense of "self-control". so i told myself to THINK about it for about 90% of my successful clothing finds. from garage, to urban direct, to american eagle, to b2, and lastly to hollister (which is where i saw the most impressive wollen parka - it looks better than it sounds trust me). i really do have the longest shopping-wish-list now!

this is what i mean when i refer to the convolution of good and bad all encompassed in one day's adventure. to spend or not to spend, that is the question. i'm just glad that the shops are there - and they will be for a long long time, so i really am in no rush to pressure myself into buying all of this stuff in one shot! the way i see it, i might as well let this debacle unfold slowly hahaha.

so. random thought. i've really settled into a bad sleeping pattern. perhaps i should try to steer away from these 3ams huh. esp with my early mornings =p gah.

ooh! lucky last, i need to mention my "suprize" earlier when i was talking to my mum - apparently there are 'people' (who shall remain un-named) coming to visit my site (yay!) but they go by as ghosts! i didn't even know that such people were even remotely interested in reading about my adventures! hahaha. i gotta admit, it's a little strange for me to think that i'm writing to an anonymous audience. =p so i think i said this before a couple of posts ago (and yes trish, i'm really just trying to keep my flooble alive this time coz i'm sick of reviving it again and again *wink*), but really, do feel free to comment on the side on my flooble whenever you're here! tag anything, i really don't mind. hahah. but at least that way i'll know that i'm appreciated (*hint*hint*) and that i know that i'm not writing for nothing... and lastly just so i know who's coming through my space. =)

*end of rant*

wellll! so i'm kinda feeling lazy right now, so i'm gonna leave my rant about my anti-religion professor to a later date. =p

so anyway, i luv ya all lots! (whoever you are) haha.

take care!

peace.

*new template*

cha ching! hahaha. so you may be wondering what inspired this new template - let me put it this way. one weekend. 48 hours. locked up in a small hotel room. yup, that would just about do it. hahah. what i mean to say is that i spent this weekend, sick, and feeling reeeeallly redundant about all sorts of things, hence it all came alive in form of this "creative" spur of expressionism.

now yes, there is something missing on this template, but i can't seem to put my finger on it. and if you were wondering - yes the picture is of toronto! hahah. how appropriate huh. =p annnnnnd what's even more amazing, is that i actually photoshopped it myself, lol! knowing me and my incessant fear of photoshop - i think i did quite well. but yes, if you can spot what's missing... please let me know? it's driving me nuts!

so anyway. i want to blog about this place that i found on friday night... there we were walking along bloor st west after eating jap - when i saw this brightly lit, multi-storey and modernistic bookshop. now knowing me and my avid love for books, i felt the draw to go and check it out. now this was my best idea yet. they had books, leather bounds, dvd movies, dvd box sets, cds and even vinyl! omgggg. now the place looked like it sold brand new merchandise - but the *gold* factor was that they were all second hand! AND...! everything there was cheap!! =p heheh. now the best best best best thing was that i found 3 things which i have been holding out to buy. so here's my score list and the price tags:

1. bridget jones diary - the edge of reason $4.99
2. the cutting edge 1992 dvd - $6.99
3. the oc season 4 dvd boxset - $29.99

now all of these are virtually new okay, no wear and tear whatsoever - i STILL can't believe the bargains!! i think this shop (which i don't actually know the name of), just made it to the top of my list. hahaha. =p so yes. the triumph of my weekend. =)

okie okie. so i've got class tm, so i need to be off hahaha. but i hope you like the template! =)

jaa.
