okie. so i'm back at the primrose now and it's 12.05pm in the arvo on a friday.

and yes, according to my timetable, it says that i really should still be on campus waiting around for my next class.

and then you hear me say, "class? what class?"

yes that's right. here i am intentionally wagging - woohoo - and go figure, but i haven't been to this class for the entire semester. okay, so we're only in week four. and yes, i did go to the "introductory" class. am i freaked? just a bit. but yet, why the hell am i so unmotivated to go to this one class? maybe it's the fact that the prof doesn't actually teach anything... and we all know how much of a "fan" i am of class discussions. can i just say that canadian girls are perhaps the most opinionated people yet? and oh, it really doesn't help that these politics classes are dominated by the female gender - c'mon guys!! call me sexist or watever, but i'd much rather hear a guy talk about politics than a girl. i don't even know why! can i say "go figure" again?

so anyway. friday afternoon. wondering what to do.

hmm. i think i want to shop. or not. i dunnnooooo. or eat. yes, i have a distinct craving for hot dogs right now. lol! ryerson has this one hot dog stand that makes the BEST hot dogs. mmmmmmm.

hahah. gotta jet!

seeeeee ya!

-pheebs.
hola.

well well well. the suprizes just keep on coming! so raph and rach are pretty tricky. after sending me the balloon and the bear, they sent something else a couple of days later! hahah. now this picture really doesn't do the basket any justice. it's full of junk food lol. all kinds of frazzles and dazzles - as if they WANT me to get fat!

so yes, it was very sweet of them to appeal to my sweet tooth. hahaha. and it's so funny because apart from the pringles and the gobstoppers - i've like never heard of any of the other lollies in there! hahahahah. like 'razzles' and 'chipnuts' and 'twizzlers'.. lol. they all sound like lollies from the movies. hahah. =p but just a note, some of them taste a little funny... or like nothing at all. hahahahah.

annnywayyy! i'm in a really weird mood/faze at the moment.
i just got back from my communications class - and same as last week, the test had a pretty good outcome. but i feel kinda numb about it. and not just numb about that, but about everything else around me! like... the things that i normally find interesting and funny, i feel numb about. the things that make me sad, just make me feel numb too. i feel like i'm lost at the moment. but i know i'm NOT lost and that i'm not alone.

i'm surrounded my lots and lots of people - people who i can talk to too. people who i can relate to even. but for some reason, i just feel like i'm isolated and deserted. i don't really know how to explain why. so i talk to family back home everyday - and yes i miss them, but since i talk to them so much i don't feel homesick.

i think i miss the piano. back home, the piano would be my outlet you know? like if i was feeling in a creative mood, i would write parts or arrange a song, or i'd listen to a song and then exercise my muzo-ear and write the song out... or if i was angry, i'd play one of my loud bang songs and just bang the crap out of the keys. or if i was sad i'd end up playing a ballad. but i don't have a piano over here. i think i lost my outlet, and i have all of the pent up energy and emotions which i don't know where to put it all. there's only so much that a girl can journal you know? only so much that someone can say to themselves. self reflection is good for the soul, but is there such thing as over-reflection? like, thinking too much? perhaps.

i think i just want to relax. i should be relaxed. maybe i'm just frustrated. frustrated that the two people who i really need to talk to and tell things two aren't on talking terms with me. although, i can't really quite figure out why. why do things have to go so sour? why can't everything be as they were? why can't we forgive and forget and just move on? why can't we just appreciate friendship for what it is? i guess i won't know the answers to these things for a while to come. =(

i'm like a grain of sand on a beach, one of the millions.

i think it's just a mood. and a phase. i'm sure it'll pass soon. i hope it does coz my heart hurts. =(

jaa.

*happy birthday to me*

wow! the past few days have been SOOOO eventful! lots and lots and lots of things have happened - all of them fantastically brilliant. hahah. so yes, it helped that it was my birthday yesterday - i have lots to say about it! =p but it was also a blast because i finally got to travel up north to see montreal and quebec city! it was totally awesome hahah. =p

let me start with my b'day though - because the suprize for that came 3 days early, on thursday. so there i was, napping (which is slightly unusual for me), when at 6pm andrea knocks on my door and comes and pokes my head - waking me up. she's like "you've got a package downstairs!!!" hahaha. apparently someone from the front desk called our room to let us know. so we jumped out of our jammies and into something semi-decent, and we headed down to grab the package. so wen we got to the front desk - the lady straight away recognized us and handed me this MASSIVE box! however... whilst it was incredibily sizble, it also felt and sounded like there was NOTHING in it! lol. so we both excitedly jumped back into the lift and came back up to our room and i tore open the box. as soon as i opened the flaps - this big, massive, colorful helium ballon popped out! check it out:

how sweet right? rach and raph sent it over: and the little teddy bear at the bottom (whilst it was being strangulated by the ribbon), bore this message:

awww. aren't they sweet. heheheh. i love you guys to bits! *muah*

okay.. then skip forward a couple of days to sunday... after we got back from montreal, we were all really tired and our train had been delayed... so once we got back to the primrose, we were all ready to crash. i got back and started unpacking - took out my laptop and was checking my emails... at around 10:30pm carolyn called my room and told me that she found my lost adaptor so she asked me to go and grab it from her room. i was actually half in my jammies, and boy was i lucky to have put on a jacket! i went to carolyn's room and knocked on the door - when she opened her door, the room was pitch black... as soon as i stepped inside, i was greeted with a big "suprize! happy birthday!!" from andrea, luke, sophia and carolyn! it was soooooo sweeeet! they had a birthday cake and everything! annddd they even sang happy birthday to me.. hahahah. =p it was so adorable and thoughtful and just sweet! hahaha so this is me cutting the cake [obviously] =p

yummmm. strawberries and cream! hahaha. =p

it was so sweet because luke had gone to dominion [a supermarket like coles] and bought it - waited in really long and slow queue and waited for us to get back from montreal! i can't believe they did it hey - i'm still so suprized! =p it's so nice to have such loving friends heheh.

from L to R: sophia|luke|carolyn|me|andrea|corbin|preston

okay! so after i thought the whole birthday thing was over (after all, it already was the 24th), i was presently suprized yet again! after getting back from class at around 11 this morning, i was on the phone with rach for about 2 or so hours hahah. half way through though, i got a call from the front desk saying that a package had arrived for me - excited because i thought it was the box of stuff from home that rach and my mum had sent, i jumped in the lift yet again to go and grab the box. now at the front desk, rather than being greeted by a massive brown cardboard box (which is what i was expecting), there was a large, white, rectangular box with a ribbon bow around it! nicole (the lady at the front desk) was like "here you go, special girl" *wink*. hahah. i was soooo suprized!!! rather than being just STUFF, it was a big box of flowers!! hahhah. so i quickly jumped back into the lift and got into my room - tore open the box (forgetting to take pictures of the wrapped up box), and was pleasantly greeted by a happy bouquet of flowers! hahhaa. now don't ask me what kinds, because i really couldn't tell you - but they were happy and pretty nonetheless. hahah. and GUESS who they were from?? hahah. none other than my besties, the CHUBS! hahahah. =p thanks so much you guys - i love you sooooo much!! heheheh.

rest assured, the flowers are now sitting happily in the vase =p i would've done it myself, but i couldn't figure out how to! hahahah.

sweet isn't it? hahaha. =p i really do feel special after recieving all those gifts hahah. i've gotta say, it's really nice to not be forgotten! =p hahah, or rather, let's just say that it's nice to be remembered and missed. =)) i'm also glad to say that this birthday DIDN'T suck at all! i mean, i was expecting it to because i'm so used to being surrounded by friends and family - but because of the suprizes and the gifts, i somehow STILL felt like everyone was here with me - and i had a just as happy (if not more so) birthday this year. =p thanks everyone - i love you lots!! and to the chubs: i love you long time!

okay, so this now leads me to montreal and quebec city! let me just summ it up in three words: absolutely romantically beautiful!!! every building seemed as if it had a story to tell, and every street had some sort of history which was spilled out into the gorgeous European architecture. it felt like i had travelled across the world again, but to Paris or to Venice! it was stunning hey. photos really couldn't capture the beauty that was there. =p

now the train ride there was a bit tortourous. esp considering that i was out reeeeeallly late the night night before /that morning. so even though i slept most of the way there, the train ride seemed reallllyyy long hahah. but it was about 5 and a half hours total. so here we are... posing just after having woken up hahah.

so the first day we were in montreal (friday) we did a 3-hour tour of the city. it was packed with the key sights and all that. it was beautiful and it was a really efficient way of covering the city! hahah. after that, we went to have dinner at a place called "reubens". this was like... the fullest most meat-packed meal that i have ever seen and eaten. check this out - look at the amount of smoked ham!!

now this place is apparently reallly famous in montreal, the tour guide actually suggested it to us. the restaurant was really packed too - which was encouraging. hahah. but we were just totally stuffed after eating - we didn't even manage to finish it! now there's a montreal specialty - called "poutine". essentially it's just chips, cheese and gravy. but the reubens special as you can see was topped with a gross amount of smoked ham. there was a whole room FULL of the ham - right next to the door when we walked in. the sight was almost sickening. hahah. =p if only it didn't taste as good as it did!

now after eating dinner - we could barely walk. we wanted to go to the casino to check it out, but the last shuttle bus left at like 7 - which was appallingly early for a friday night. so we ended up watching 'good luck chuck' instead. the movie was soooooo pervertedly funny though - hahaha. it was awesome. lol. =p after the movie, we went back to the hotel to crash.

now saturday - we did a day tour of quebec city. it was soooo beautiful! hahaha. and we saw so many things - way too many for me to list =p but here are some pics of me in the touristy heart of the quaint city:

like i said earlier, i really couldn't capture the beauty of the whole place hey. just imagine the streets of venice though - because that's how anciently historical the city was. the chateau frontenac was an awesome sight too. =p we got back from quebec city at about 9ish at night - andrea and i headed out for a late dinner. after chatting to the conceirge of the hotel and having him make reservations for us - we took ages to get ready, so we ended up cabbing it. however, our cab driver was pretty dodge - he didn't know where the restaurant was and ended up dropping us off at some random intersection. after walking and walking for quite a while, we gave up trying to find the restaurant and stumbled upon a restaurant called "ti amo". we found exactly what we were looking for - and we were incredibly satisfied with the dinner and the yummy cocktails. =p so after sitting and chatting at dinner, we were gonna head to crescent st - where apparently there are lots of bands and pubs and stuff. but we somehow ended up back at the hotel.. =p so after a few drinks, a few rounds of big 2 and joker and a lot of laughs... we went to sleep.

the next morning, carolyn and sohpia were out really early, but andrea and i decided to sleep in till about 11-ish. after getting ready and meeting our check out time, we left the hotel, met up with carolyn and sophia and headed to montreal's chinatown. check it:

all in all, their chinatown isn't really a CHINAtown. it's more like a VIETtown. lol. =p there's pho shops all over.. hahaha, and it seemed to be quite funny as we were trying to find a restaurant. eventually, we ended up stopping to eat at a buffet place. no joke okay, i've never seen this much food in my life. there was jap, italian, chinese, dim sum, kueh, ice cream, cheesecakes... all sorts of stuff hey! whilst it was kinda random - and kinda wasted on me because i don't eat much these days (no i'm not dieting!), it still was really cheap. =p

after chinatown *viettown* cough, we took the subway back to mcgill and hit their centre eaton which is part of underground city. we shopped and shopped, caroyln bought her watch, sophia her wallet, me my jacket, and andrea - suprizingly empty handed. after walking around for 3 or 4 hours, we headed back to the hotel to collect our luggage, and then we were on our way back to VIArail to train it back to toronto.

ultimately - this trip was one of the most fulfilling yet. i got to see and do so much, and it was just so worth it!! i'm so glad that we went... and i'm really stoked about travelling even more in the weeks to come. hahah. =) so anyway, here's my update... if you made it through til here, yay! =p good for you. hahahahah. ;)

oh wait oh wait! i forgot about one reallllyyyy funny thing! hahahahha. i think the pictures here tell the story well enough on their own, but lemmi just explain anyway =p. but first, here's the pic/s.

okay, so as you can see, there i was, getting ready to pose for andrea to take my pic - but there were heaps of ppl crossing the road! so i was looking behind to check and make sure i wasn't in anyone's way. wen i looked back at andrea, a guy came up to me and posed next to me! lol. so i jokingly laughed/asked "oh...? do you want to take a photo with me then?" hahahahahha. expecting him to say no, he surpized me and was like "sure! of course!" so... this strange ass man, stands intrusively close into my personal space - and poses for the pic! lol. what choice did i have but to give a thumbs up? lollllll. =p but really, can i just ask - what the hell is it with strange men and wanting a picture with me???!?!?! lol. as i've blogged about this matter before - it's obviously not the first time that this has happened. lol. =p i think i may start saying no from now on. hahahahahah.

okay. well now, it's definately time to jet. and it's also high time that i stop the procrastination. =p

byeeeee!!!

luv lots,
~ pheebs.
howdy people!

lol. just a funny thought first up. everytime i meet someone [males in particular] who finds out that i'm from australia... they always find the need to assimilate the phrase "howdy mate" into the converstaion..! it's soooo weiiirrrdd. hahahah. oh and as someone enlightened me the other night - "mate" to ppl over here really means mate as in man and woman mate.. lol. it's pretty funny. =p and a bit unusual too.

and speaking of unusual! the one thing that i really can't get used to seeing around town is the movie sets when they film along the streets! i think i've seen about 3 or 4 different movies being filmed right here in toronto! it's pretty amazing hahah. so this week i saw the most amazing yet. around yonge street (which is the central/ main shopping/entertainment street over here - kinda like the toronto-version of orchard road if you wish)... each night from 7pm to 7am they transform the street into new york. no joke - they've imported nyc taxicabs, nypd squad cars and they've even temporarily changed some of the signs to say "NYC"! annnnddd. GUESS what they're filming for...??!!? it's the INCREDIBLE HULK!! heheh how awesome hey. =p obviously there's no hulk around coz they green screen him, but it's still soooo awesome! they even lay out trash bags and trash cans just like new york - it's so funny bcoz since i was actually there only 3 weeks ago, it really does feel authentic. hahah. i reckon yonge st could pass off as 8th av hey... not quite 7th or broadway.. but definately 8th. hahah. anyway, as andrea and i were heading back from our HR class today - it was about 6:30pm-ish so all the props were being laid out (as in the cars and the smashed in/torched cars and trash cans etc) so we went into a total photo frenzy. hahah. =)) here's some funny ones:

me... lol. being silly. oh - some guy asked to take a pic of me... bcoz of my jumper! hahaha. was quite funny. andrea was taking a pic of me, then i saw him trying to take a photo too so i was like "oh! sorry let me get out of your way!" but then he was like "no, no! stay there!" then reading off my jumper he was like "i love new york.. wooo!" hahhaha. so i posed and gave him two thumbs up =p

heheh. i think andrea proved that she hasn't stepped foot in the big apple yet. hahah. so cute. =p

hahah. hulk is here.

see the trash? yes.. new york really is like that. hahah. just minus those pink set sheets. =p

ooooh. these are along church street (my usual walking route to uni..)! they're all trailers/RVs for the actors/stunt ppl =p can you see the ryerson street pole flag? heeeheeh. =p yes that's my uni! hahah.

hahah. new york cars littered all arnd downtown toronto. =p so quaint.

so yes! it's all quite interesting hey - so many firsts. =p oooh i'm getting really really really excited about going to montreal. hahah. it's so soon!! we're leaving super early on friday morning - 6:55am. hahah. that should be interesting =p

annnywayy! i gotta be going - got a test early tm morning! =( see? the workload over here really is heavier. hahahah.

soooo.... byeee!

luv lots, pheebs.
*yawn*
gosh i'm soooooo tired! the past few days have been hectic! but it's all definately a good hectic. haha.

on thursday night, in a weird and crazy mood, andrea, carolyn, sophia and i made a reallllllyyyy really impulsive decision. we're goin to montreal!!! hahaha. after making the decision and sleeping on it, we went on friday and bought our tickets and booked our accomodation hahah. it's all officially happening - we'll be there for 3 days and 2 nights (just long enough to get the quebec feel)... annnndddd. i get to spend my birthday there too! hahah =) woohoo. =p

so after making that big decision, we also made the decision to spend saturday at paramount canada's wonderland - which is the biggest theme park in canada. =)) it was soooooooooo goood! hahaha. andrea and i went crazzyy going on like 5 different roller coasters and abt 15 rides total. =p here's a couple of pics... well.. more than a couple.. hahaha.

sophia, me, andrea and carolyn

yay! we found home on a map - so we just had to snap a pic =p

heheh. woohoo. this is proof that i'm not THAT short - i'm of height!! =D

the psyclone - my new favorite ride...
well, apart from the brevity, this ride actually beats the ranger - it's totally INSANE!

this one's called "night mares"... haha it was so good we ran to do it twice..

this is the canadian version of the ranger..
they call it the "jet scream".
frankly, it's not as good.

the skyrider. this was heaps funny. both andrea and i were pissing ourselves scared as we were lining up. it's the first ever standing-up roller coaster i've ever been on. this was totally not scary. rather, it was paiinnfull!!! never, ever, again. p.s. don't u reckon that it looks totally retarded? hahahahhahahaah.

it's sponge bob!! hahaha. we all tried on so many hats that day =p

okay read the sign. now, don't you think this counts as discrimination?
"larger body proportions"??? c'monnnn.

the tomb raider. this was the number one most stupidest ride EVER! okay, so the "idea" of a lying-down roller coaster was pretty good.. but omgggg. this was sooooo dumb! since we were on our stomach for the whole time, you couldn't really feel the 'thrill' of it at all. so it was just like being dumped in a washing machine going round and round and round... like i said, it was soooooooo dumb. lol.

wahaha. this is just for raph. sucked in dude - i was there!

the rage. this one was only rated as a 4... but i happen to think it was one of the best! it's just like bounty's revenge in adventure world... those of u who know me from when i was a kid - u'd know how crazy i was about that ride. hahahah. so yeah, as u can imagine we definately did this one twice. hahah.

and to top the day all off - here's what i had for dinner! toronto's got some of the best jap food outside of japan hey. hahah. this was at our new fav restaurant called
"sushi sky". lol. the service is a bit dodge, but the food rocks. =))

well on the way back home, we walked past the college cineplex odeon, and we saw that the nanny diaries was on (scarlett johanssen and chris evans - he's hottt!!).. so even though we were totally knackered, we impulsively decided to watch it. hahah. so it was another late night for us. =p

after getting back home, a new friend came over and we chatted until late... bad idea though coz i did go to church this morning - and couldn't stop yawning! church overall was good though - got to meet some other college-aged girls and also introduced myself to the pastor.. hahah. so yeeap. then we had lunch (jap again, suprize suprize), went grocery shopping, came back, chilled, hung out with some other guys in our building, and then came back and... chilled somemore. hahaha. =p fantastic and productive day wasn't it. lol.

anyway, i've gotta jet. got class tm! but one last thing before i go. trish shared this with me sometime last week. everytime i watch it.. i still get pleasantly suprized. hahah. =p enjoy! =))

-here ends my rant-
the yankeeeeeeeesss!!!

wahaha. okay and i thought that it was btdt with new york.. but nope, they followed me here to toronto! hahah.

so yesterday was a pretty interesting day! it started off with someone stomping on my foot so hard that i was so sure that both my shoe and my toe was going to break. =( wait, that's not interesting - that was PAINFUL!) lol. after that i limped to class... and then after class, andrea and i raced over to the quad (altho we stopped at a few shoe stores to see if i could find a replacement pair - fyi, we were unsuccessful, lol.) to find and meet the riSEXc people.. we then we collected our tickets for the yankees vs blue jays game and started off on our walk to the rogers centre (which was about a 25 minute walk at a decently fast-ish man-sized-step kind of speed).

yes yes. it's official hahaha, the blue jays suck.. and the yankees rule! but that's not the only reason why i was rooting for them! hahah. it was quite funny how all the exchange students somehow automatically started cheering for the blue jays... some sort of imported and embedded loyalty i reckon =p but nope. not for me! there i was amongst about 100 imported toronto fans, cheering for the yankees. damn proud i tell you! hahaha.

well, lots more interesting/funny things did occur through the hour and a half we were there (btw, the hour and a half only saw us through til the end of the 4th inning - which is testament to the speed of progression in baseball.. haha). here are some pics and i'll explain along the way:

i found this guy to be incredibly funny! there he was, in the middle of the game yakking away on his cell, standing up no matter - half blocking our view... it must've been awkward standing like that for the period of time that he did... it just struck me as strange and pretty humourous too... lol!

THEN!

see the cop? hahhaha. this bit was both weird AND funny. one of the ryerson guys (i'm not sure if he was on exchange or if he was a local) was throwing beer bottles from up in the stands. see, we were seated on the top top top tiers (hence the cheap ass tickets)... and altho i wasn't even aware that someone was throwing bottles coz i didn't hear the smash, the police and staff marshalls came up to our tier and asked the guy to leave. hahahahah. it was quite a scene, yet it felt really foreign to watch. i only figured out that he was a ryerson guy when we left the stadium and then saw him walking along with our large group to the after party.. lol.

okay... then here's two more photos:

i was really amazed at just how big the field was... as in, it was big enough to shock me, but small enough to fit inside the stadium and for us to actually see the ball from where we were sitting - that bit was awesome. =)

and lastly...

one of me for the memories sake. =)

and that just about sums up our trip to the baseball! hahaha. the after party however, was absolutely mad. hahahah. it was great getting to meet all those new ppl from everywhere in the world! it just makes me feel like the world is getting smaller and smaller, coz everyone seems to have travelled to a really really far away place... and then brought a bit of that place back to where we are... so then i / you get to learn about all these different places in the world without having been there before... lol, am i making any sense at all? hahahah. =p as usual with canadian parties, it was beer beer beer and all the shbang which accompanies the canadian definition of a "good time"... hahah. altho i must say that i am strongly convicted in my belief that i will have lung cancer by the time i get back to perth - purely based on the fact that passive smoking is absolutely unavoidable over here! and the irony of the situation just keeps hitting me everytime i turn on the tv... hahah. coz the tv is filled with and infiltrated with green messages... yet everytime you walk along the street, it's a contradiction embedded into society and culture! it's actually quite amusing! -altho, i must admit that the amusement does end when i think about the detriment of my health in the long run. hahahahahah. but oh well, i'll leave that worry to another day! =p overall, the night was interesting - and yes i did get to play pool (i was absolutely dyyyyinggg to play pool over the weekend), so i'm happy heheh. =))

annnnnywwayyyy! it's time to go... i think i've been getting back into the bad habit of sleeping late again. nooooooo. =(

must sleep early.

hahahah. =p

tata!

luv,
pheebs.
dum dum dum.

okay. so i'm a little dizzy at the moment... andrea and i did soooo much walking today! hahaha. and it's only like 3:45pm. wahaha. after having lunch together, we went shopping at the eaton centre (driven by my need for highlighters and her need for staples) - and ended up actually shopping shopping! wahaha. girls will be girls right? keke. oh. and just to note - our room really smells now. hahah. don't get the wrong idea though! hahah. we've been exercising our culinary mastery - and so our room has this funny smell of like laksa, chicken, fried chilli peppers and a whole bunch of other wafty fragrances. independently, all of those meals were great! but collaborated together??? i dunnooooooo. it smells pretty awful. hahahahaha!!

so anyway, i had class this morning - and i was actually good bcoz i woke up at 7:30am to wash my hair and take a shower hahah. even more suprizing, i was actually early for class today (which really is something new! =p)! anyway, so the unit is called "politics and human needs" - it's all about how political systems are based around the meeting the needs of humans and how it all differs from country to country (it's really a comparative politics course - quite up my alley actually)... and anyway i reckon that the lecturer is one of the most pompous men that i've ever met! i mean, it's good that he's at least confident that he knows his stuff.. but for real hey, some of the things he says is like... OMG! oh not to mention he likes his swearwords too. hahaha. okay example. ryerson's got an electronic plagarism program called "turnitin.com"... and across the uni, most professors tell their students that they have to turn in their assignments electronically to be scanned for plagiarism. so being himself, this lecturer goes "okay. i want you to know that i do not use turnitin.com. firstly i believe that it's a total invasion of your rights and secondly, it's only good for catching certain kinds of plagiarism. i, however, am fantastic at catching ALL kinds of plagiarism and i do a much better job. i tell you now, you will not meet someone who is as well read as i am. i'm serious. come to my office. i have all kinds of reading material on display. and all have been read - they don't just sit there to make me look as smart as i am. so please, remember that you must not turn in your assignments via turnitin.com, that is unacceptable - but instead, you must hand them directly to me". lollllll. i'm telling the absolute truth here hey - no exaggeration. it's unbelieveable. well i mean, HE'S unbelieveable. lol. there's just something about him!! lol. but i dunno. at least he knows his stuff (i hope..?)

okay okay. now on to the more interesting stuff! so on friday night, andrea heard that hilary duff was singing somewhere around queen st and she really wanted to go to see some stars! hahaha. knowing me, i wasn't THATT pumped about it - but i went along nevertheless. =p long story short, after dinner (we cooked laksa btw.. hehehe), we took the subway down to queens st and went in search of the red carpet. true enough and luckily enough - it was right there, next to much music (which is apparently the canadian version of mtv)... so andrea and carolyn managed to score the last 2 free passes into the "mosh pit" area - they were super super super close to the stage!! luke and i however weren't as lucky - but we still had a pretty good view of the whole thing. oh, and right behind us was the red carpet - there were stars that were being interviewed when we were there- but i think they were canadian stars, hahahaha. so we had NO IDEA who they were. lol! anyway! here are some pics from our little adventure:

so this is what the concert stage looked like from the outskirts... hahah.
honestly though, it wasn't as packed as i thought it would be.. don't get me wrong there were still heaps of people - but it wasn't like singapore crazy crazy packed. haha.

wahaha. there's ALWAYS gotta be at least one of these guys, otherwise it just ain't right!
oh, if you can't read his sign, it says "hilary, be my prom date?"

hilary singing...

since they were filming for a much music tv episode, there were commercial breaks - if you were wondering like i was, yes, they do get "made up" every commercial break haha. that's how they stay pretty! btw. don't u reckon the guy (whose face you can see) looks hell seedy? hahah. i bet there were all sorts of thoughts going through HIS head!

lol. okay... so she sang three songs that night. i really do wish that i was an avid hilary fan - coz then i would've known what she was singing!! and because we were right next to the red carpet, the music wasn't acutally turned up that loud - so the atmosphere wasn't THAT hyped hahah. but nevertheless, i still think she put on a pretty good show. =) and thankfully, andrea shot some movie clips of her dancing and that - hers are heaps better than the ones that i got bcoz she was sooooo close to the stage! hahaha. anyway, the clips are pretty funny. =p at this point in time, let's also thank God for youtube. =) *grinz*

so lastly, the whole adventure was then even funnier because on sunday night, carolyn came running into our suite and was like - "turn on the tv!!!!" hahahha. turns out that they were showing the actual episode - and andrea and carolyn were on TV! hahaha. woot woot. lol. it was all quite funny. =p oh - and tv makes it all look a lot more glamorous than it actually was. haha. that's the honest truth.

haha okay - so on saturday we hit the hockey hall of fame - no biggie really. lollll. =p but sunday day... after not going to church (i know, naughty me), we took luke out for his b'day - we went into chinatown to dragon city for dim sum. yum yum yum! we were soooooo stuffed afterwards hey. hahahah. but the food was really good. =) and better yet, it wasn't that expensive either. afterwards, we went to the bloor-yorkville district... it's pretty much the upper-end of town, where all the 5 star hotels are and where all the "A-list" celebs are conglomerating (is that a word?) because of the toronto international film festival. so there we were walking along bloor st west, and we walk smack bang into a movie scene setting! lol... the crew had to stop us from walking across the road (again - we had seen another set just down the road from our hotel - they were filming a movie set in michigan in 1970s with heather graham in it)... so yeah - once we had crossed the road - i stopped to look back bcoz i found it really incredulous! hahah. and yes - i took pictures so here's a couple:

you can see the director guy and the camera man... it's so "authentic"! hahaha.

and then...

this is the actual actor who was acting his angry scene... the scene was actually him yelling into his cell phone making some gestures, and then walking over to his cab, putting his stuff in the boot and then... i dunno after that - coz that's how far they got! hahaha. does anyone actually know who he is? hahah!

lol. so anyway, after discovering through the bloor-yorkville district, we rushed to wycik (another student residence) to meet a guy from riSEXc (ryerson student exchange committee) because we had to pay for our tix to the jay's baseball game - which is tomorrow!! (the blue jays are playing the new york yankees in a commemorative 911 game) woohooooo!! (if you can't tell, i'm stoked about it... lol!) anyway, we found out that matty works at the park hyatt as a valet and had been parking cars for brad pitt's and sean penn's parties!!! oh oh oh. and he also got to meet them! and!!!! he got to meet vigo mortesen!! if u don't know, he acted as aragon in lord of the rings. hahaha. =p but yeah - it's all pretty funny. he told us how he stalled a car like right in front of one of the celebs hahahha. tt must've been sooooo embarrassing. lol. =p anyway, after chatting with matty, we headed back to the primrose (where i'm staying) to crash and end an eventful weekend with a quiet night in. =p

so yes! that just abouts speeds you up to what i've been up to in the past couple of days/week! hahah. =)

well, just for the record? even though i'm having a blast over here- i still miss not having my car hahaha. =p oh, not to mention missing family and friends too!! hahaha.

anyway! until next time, i bid you adieu!

luff lots,

pheebs.
oookieee!!

if you're reading this, as my friend i am now requiring you to leave a post on my chatterbox!! hahahhaa. =p c'mon, i want to know if u were here or not - do it for me??

hehe. okay now that my very public plea is over, time to blog about two of the most fantastic places that i've ever seen in my life!!! first - NEW YORK!! hahahah. it was totally awesome!!! and it's probably the most productive 3 days of my life - ever. hahah. i'm so glad that mum and i decided to make the trip... yes it was short - but we saw soooo many things and literally shopped and walked til we wanted to drop. hahah. =) so first up here's some photos!

jammed up times square - such a buzzzz!

can you believe that's PEOPLE - HANDPAINTING from the scaffold? amazing!

hahaha. an official remnant of being in new york

dodgy pic of me - but proof i was there ;)

OMG! wall to wall with NBA jersey's. how jealous are you ker? keke ;)

hahaha. okay so when i say that new york was like 3 of my most productive days i really really mean it. when we got there we were picked up by one of my parent's family friends (he's a pastor of a couple of church congregations in long island).. so he brought us to his house and insisted that we stay with him instead. but for a few reasons - one, we couldn't cancel the hotel and two, long island is pretty far from manhattan island - we didn't stay there.. so we took the LIRR (long island rail road) into manhattan. the whole journey took us about an hour. oh we got to ride the subway too! OMG. it's soooooooooo loud!!! like you cannot possibly talk wen you're in the subway waiting for the trains - no wonder why everyone listens to their iPod!! hahahah. so yeah - once we got to the hotel and settled in, mum and i straight away dropped our bags and went exploring. our hotel was called "milford plaza" on the corner of 8th ave and 44th street. hahah this turned out to be such an awesome location!! it was literally a block from times square - which we innocently just happened to "stumble upon" because we walked in the "wrong" direction!! hahaha. oh! and it was in the broadway district too!!

so after exploring for a couple of hours and shopping heaps - we went for dinner at applebees - it was sooooo good =p then we started to walk back to our hotel to crash.. then as we were walking down broadway (yes it's an actual street) we were approached by these ticket agents for a hop-on-hop-off bus company. the sales guy was preeeety good! hahaha. we ended up buying a 2 day package which included a day downtown tour, uptown tour, night tour and a cruise! hahah. so yeah - we did the night tour then - we started it at like 9:15pm and finished at almost midnight... when we were dropped off in times square at the end.. even though it was like 12am i could've sworn it was still like 6 or 7!! the lights are just SOOOO bright and the streets were still PACKED with ppl!! it was absolutely unbelievable. hahah. from our hotel room window we could see times square - and really even at 3am there are still ppl walking arnd!! (don't ask me why i was up at 3am... hahah!) so yes.. by 1am we were back at our hotel - and boy did we crash!!

the next day we did the day downtown tour - it took us through chinatown and little italy and through soho (which stands for South Of Houston - which is prounounced HOWston, rather than HEWston). =p oh we also hit tribeca and brooklyn and the financial district - which included seeing ground zero. i tell you now, ground zero is HUGEEEEEE. like you realize that the building were like 110 stories and u remember it.. but you never really can imagine the intensity of 911 until you see just how big the site is... it was truly amazing. oh we saw the trump tower =p which really wasn't much.. hahah. and then we saw the rockefeller centre and the chrysler building - and oh oh oh - empire state too! on the cruise, we got to see the new jersey shorline esplanade front, and then of course ellis island and liberty island too hahah - hence the pic of the statute of liberty! to be honest... the nyc shoreline and city view really wasn't that great from the cruist - seatlle was still wayyyyyy better. but i merit that to the smoggy overhead clouds and *cough*pollution*cough*. haha =p. so that day was really really really fulfilling. by thursday wen we had to leave - we left extra early for long island to have breakfast with family friends... i was soooo knackered that i totally KOed on the train. hahah. breakfast at friendlys was tasty and cheap. =p that's always good. wahaha. and then we went all the way to stonybrook to see their other house - pity i didn't get to see Stonybrook uni... that would've been interesting.. so anyywayy! after we were at the airport (we went to the wrong terminal.. lol. did you know that the new york/america considers toronto/canada as domestic? how strange. lol =S) we boarded the plan on time at 5:30... but didn't take off on the runway until 7:30pm!!! we were delayed for a whole 2 hours.. sucked crap i tell you. it was sooooo boring and worse - i felt really really sick from the bad subway that i had for lunch - the stupid guy put vinegar on it wen i asked for ceasar. grr. sometimes i think that i ought to fake an american accent just to get what i ask for. loll!! so anywayy, we reached toronto finally and after a whole fiasco with canadian immigration (the lady forgot to stamp my passport - how dodgy), we got to the hotel by 10pm... mind u the flight was only 1 hour - so it was hella dodgy hey. but overall, the new york trip was one of a lifetime - and i'd definately go back again, altho i might choose i different hotel hahah.

okayyyy. then the second place - NIAGARA FALLS! omg. i kid you not - it's just like 5 times the royal show, just like all year round (okay maybe minus winter when it freezes over lol. =p). it's soooooo coool!! from the sky wheel, to maid of the mist, to really seeing up close the american falls and the horseshoe falls - it's just totally awesome. there's heaps of rides, and heaps of places to eat - and it's just bustling full with people!! it's soooooo goood. hahaha. i really did have flashbacks of the royal show - and it kinda made me sad coz i realized that i can't go this year. =( i miss the ranger!!! so annnywayy! niagara was just so beautiful. but expensive too =S lol. all the food is totally overpriced.. i can't imagine what accomodation would cost like there. lolll. =p oh. well we also got to go to a winery on the way in (some famous actor just bought it apparently) - and it was soooo goood. this comes as a suprize bcoz u know me - i'm not usually into wines (esp red wines)... but the tastings were suprizingly good! there was this one special wine which they call icewine - you guessed it, they make it from frozen grapes. it takes 12 cases of normal wine to make 1 case of icewine... that's one heck of a lot of grapes lol! but yeah - it's soooooooooo nice! like really really fruity, yet it's still got that nice wine taste. hahaha. =p i think i'm addicted - but only to the birchwood white vidal icewine hahah. i don't think i like the red. lol. but yeah that was a good experience too! we also saw the niagara whirlpool (which wasn't that fantastic) and then the floral clock (which was pretty uhm... boring? hahaha). so yeah...! overall niagara was just really fun - mum and i walked heaps and heaps going from store to store checking stuff out. hahah getting dumped on when on the maid of the mist was pretty funny too. no.. we didn't get too wet hahah. but that's coz i was heaps wussy and decided to stay on the lower deck hahah! okay here's some pics which capture only a tenth of the AMAZING view that we had that day... =)

the beautiful horseshoe falls - picture taken from the side of the road

me in the stupid maid of the mist poncho. wahaha. =p
mind you it was windy that day - so it really was a pain in the ass!

hahah. this is classic and just for you nardz. ;)

oooh. this is a downhill-ish view of what clifton ave was like...
just think times 10 or 20, and you've got the real intensity of niagara!

this is part of the american falls
(the smaller falls that you pass just before the massive horseshoe falls)
oh. see those yellow things?
they're actually people seeing niagara from the us side. =p

okay! so one last thing to post for one last special person... who i bet never comes here anyway. heheh. this was taken on sunday when i was walking through chinatown on spadina ave... just for you dwen. ;)

how appropriate is it that it's a veggie restaurant... lol!!
oh and yes dwen, i am duin my 5 and 2s. ;) are ya proud of me?

alrightey then!! woah. 2am. loll!! this was one heck of a long post - can you believe that i started it at like 8:30? hahahhahh. oh but i got side tracked to i guess that counts for something. lolll. annnywayyy, even tho i don't have classes tm, i'd better sleeep. =p
