okay - so i leave for the airport in like an hour... but i just wanted to post first coz there's a couple of things weighing on my mind.

first. i heard some tragic news last night. i'm still in shock - i just really can't believe that it's happened. so there was this guy who i knew through church that came to study in perth for a few years. he then came back to do his masters in economics... because he came to my church and coz he lived north - my dad would always pick him up on the way to church - and since i always rode to church with my dad (in the days b4 i could drive that is..) i got to know him quite a bit. so anyway.. he's one heck of a good guy - so kind, gentle, understanding, and just a complete servant of the Lord. he was such an encouragement - and a changed man coz i know that he was a bit rebellious when he was younger... but really. he was just an awesome guy - great to talk to and quite humorous too! he was just such a joy to be around. anyway. so he went back to s'pore the year b4 last coz he finished his studies, so he went back to s'pore to work... well. on sunday morning s'pore time - he ran a 21km marathon with thousands of other people - he finished it in like 90 minutes.. after passing the finish line - he collapsed... his heart stopped and he stopped breathing. the paramedics on site tried to revive him - gave him resusitation drugs and did CPR, but to no avail... he was rushed to the hospital and the doctors there tried to revive him... but they couldn't.. so at 8:07am on sunday morning they pronounced him as deceased.

i really still am in shock - coz it feels like just last week that i was talking to him online asking him how things were going and just getting an update from him... i guess i understand how life and death is all a cycle and that death for him isn't the end because he's saved - that much i'm glad for. and i do know that i'll see him again one day. but still, losing him at such a young age (he was only 25) - i sometimes wonder why God plans the things He does. i don't question it - don't get me wrong... i just wonder that's all. so many people would be incredibly saddened at this loss - i can't imagine what his family is going through right now. but I know that the Lord will give them the strength to get through it and that they can be consoled in knowing that he was a son of God - and they can be certain that he's going to a better place.

on that sad note - i need to go. just needed to pen some thoughts.

wish me a safe flight (i'm flying to toronto tonight) =)

luv lots,
pheebs.
have you ever had a series of days where you just think - "get me outta here!!" ? and then you kinda just get into a rut of being frustrated/annoyed and.. well just some other not so good feelings?

well. those few days have come for me... don't get me wrong! i love that i'm surrounded by God's creations and i really do marvel at the incredible and exquisite scenery which has surrounded me for the past week... but i guess enough is enough?? hahaha. combined with a few other travelling adversities, i'm so ready to hit city life again. =p maybe i'm just not cut out for the life of a country bumpkin! hahah.

okay, well - over the past 4 days, here's a list of places that i've been to:

monday
- hope
- kamploops
- clearwater

tuesday
- valemount
- mount robson
- jasper
- medicine lake
- maligne lake

wednesday
- athabasca falls
- tango falls
- colombia icefields
- athabasca glacier
- lake louise
- moraine lake and the ten peaks
- banff

thursday
- golden
- passed through revelstoke and vernon
- kelowna

wow! that's actually quite a long list.. lol. =p by far wednesday was our longest day - but it was really productive too! and i did get to take some amazing photos along the way (not of me though - i had a really really bad hair day that day...) =p but tonight, we're stopped in kelowna, my aunt, uncle and mum have gone to orchard park mall to "jalan jalan"... i opted for a quiet night in - so i'm bumming at the motel we're staying in. hahah. =p we spent about 8 hours driving today - so i really didn't feel like getting in the car again. =p and besides, i really needed some "me" time to just catch up on emailing, blogging and journalling - and just getting some quality solitary time. you know, it never ceases to amaze me how i constantly suprisze myself with the 'moods' that i go through... sometimes i just need to be surrounded by people - i'll feel like going insane if i don't have anyone to talk to.. and then like now, there's just a time when i really need to be on my own, and just need to chill on my own to process my thoughts and just to be really intensively pensive!

okay! photo time! here's a couple of happy snaps that i've caught over the past couple of days. =)

athabasca glacier
we took the ice explorer all the way out to the middle of the glacier

maligne lake
beeauutiffull - almost looks like a postcard!

athabasca falls
the largest falls on the west coast

twin peaks
just an example of the serenity of the roads within the rockies
.. oh and the view too!

pretty right?? hahah. well, those views pretty much sum up all of what i've seen over the last 4 days. haha. =p i'm just looking forward to getting back to vancouver tm night!

okieee. i gotta jet.

cyers,

pheebs.
heylo!

okay, sorry it's been a couple of days since i last posted - things have been pretty hectic! we've travelled to soooo many places - and i've totally gone camera happy. i have a feeling that the phase will pass soon though =p. i think that 1057 photos in 4 days is a tad bit much! don't you??? lol..! but okay, here's a breakdown of what what i've seen and where i've been in the past couple of days. =)

thursday
thursday was time for our road-trip to seattle! we were meant to get an early early start, but somehow, we ended up leaving at around 9am. i had absolutely no idea that the traffic at the us/canada border would be so bad!! check this out:

it's insannee right?? although it looks really bad - thank God for the nexus lane (a short-cut lane for those frequent travellers... heaps of ppl had nexus cards so the traffic ended up moving FAIRLY quickly. lol. but it still took us abt an hour to pass through. stupid thing was though, that since my aunt and uncle still travel on their singapore passports, and my mum on her aussie one - they didn't have visas, so we actually had to get down out of the car and go into the office to apply for a temporary visa. the queue for this was insanely long as well, so we spent about half an hour just waiting. and even more stupid was the fact that even though i ALREADY have a us visitors visa - they still made me pay the visa feee!!! grr. it was kinda stupid hey - but i wasn't about to make any noise to the homeland security guy... kinda scary. lol! but eventually... we did make it through and it was:

so after we passed the border, we were well on our way to hitting seattle. after about an hour and a half later it was time for lunch - so we stopped in a small town called bellingham for a leg stretch and lunch. =) there were quite a few funny sites around town - some of which i did take pictures of, but over all the people were friendly and warm and the food was pretty okay too i guess. =p ooh! and since i hit a few bookstores around town, i did find some pretty good buys, one hilarious book called "signspotting". wahahaha. i laughed for hours. haha. and yes, i did get a chance to us my us mulah. =))

okayy! so after our 2 hour stop-through in bellingham, we were on our way to seattle. the first thing on our agenda was to find a place to stay - after stopping at a couple of best westerns, we finally decided on an inn just on the outskirts of downtown - 7 blocks from all the action. we reached seattle in the peak of the afternoon - abt 1 or 2 pm i think (it's all a lil bit blurry now), so we did quite a bit of walking arnd downtown. i FINALLY went to my first nordstroms! and macy's. hahah. and yes, i bought something just to get the bags. hahahaha. such a me thing to do right??? lol =p but the long chain that i got is soooo nice! hahah - kinda bling though. annywayyyy. after walking arnd downtown for a couple of hours, i was determined to do two things. first, to find a souvenior shop (i've been collecting keychains from every place i visit), and then take a cruise around pugent sound. so yes, luckily we found a really good map which pointed out all the key tourist attractions - so our adventure was made a lot easier.

on our way to the harbour we just happened to pass a massive souvenior store, so i stopped to buy my keychain - and in doing so, look what i came across!

there was a whole corner just dedicated to grey's! mugs, cups, hats, magnets, key chains, posters, medical jerseys, t-shirts, jumpers, the list goes on and on and on and on! and dammit, i didn't have enough time to go look for seattle grace!! that was like - number one on my list of things to see in seattle. hahahah. =p but oh well..!

anyway, we found where the harbour was, and set out to walk there to check out if there were any cruises. once we reached there, we were so lucky! the argosy cruise company were having a promotion - and were offering a 1-hour cruise for only 10 bucks! sweeeet. hahah. normally each cruise is about 30 bucks for an adult, so we hell scored. =) so here's a bad pic of me with the seattle skyline in the background - look to the left, it's the space needle! (which is pretty ugly in real life if you ask me..) lol.

the chick who was doing the commentary was really good hey - i learnt a lot about seattle. i.e. did you know that their stadium for the seattle mariners (which is ONLY for the seattle mariners) has a fully retractable roof which cost 67 million alone? JUST for the roof!! sickkk hey. lol. she also did point out the starbucks headquarters and amazon's main warehouse base. lol. overall, it was well worth it - the skyline was beautiful!

so after the cruise, we were all getting pretty hungry, so we went in search of a restaurant. you know it's so weird, when you're NOT looking for a restaurant, there's always an overwhelming abundance of them! but when you ARE looking for one - there's none in sight! or at least, none that look the least bit apetizing. lol. so yes, it took us about an hour of walking around to find something that satisfied all of us - finally, it happened to be my pick (coz i wanted to eat steak and chips - NOT asain food. lol)... we stumbled upon this great find : the frontier room. i'm tellin ya, this is the best burger that i've had in years!! a smoked beef patty sandwiched with a white bread bun, smoked bacon, cheese, lettuce, pickles and onions (i asked them to drop the tomatoes) - served alongside chips. it was aweessommeee. hahah. it really did taste better than it looks okiee? and the size was gynormous! okay so here's a commemorative pic:

so after filling up at frontier, we went back to the inn to crash... =)) the room whilst a little dodgy, was still okieee and i slept really really well.

friday
friday was a pretty short day all in all - it just happened to be the celebration day of the 100th birthday of the ever famous seattle pike place public markets - so there were heaps of festivities and what not going on - it was just soooo packed with people!!

the whole thing was kinda cool though, because i did get a chance to go to the first starbucks store ever. for a lil bit of history: the was the first in the world and opened in 1971. the interiors have been kept the same and it's decorated with pictures of the olden day starbucks. they even still have buskers who stand outside and do their "thing" - just to make the whole experience authentic. there was a country town "band" that called themselves the "dog mafia". hahaha. they were pretty good hey! lol. however, apparently the coffee there really isn't anything special... lol. but that's okay since i'm not a very good coffee drinker. haha. just outside that starbucks though, there was a young magician guy - brian something or rather... he was really really good! lol so good that i got jipped into buying his dvd. lol. i haven't watched it yet though =p so we'll have to see if i really did get jipped jipped. lol.

okay, so after the markets, we decided to start our way back to vancouver. easier said than done though! we stumbled across another town on the way back though - called "burlington". they had these discount outlets of a whole range of brands! and get this! they even had a christian outlet! i'm so jealous - they had such a range of music books - i ended up buying 4 books.. hahah. i just couldn't resist!! i just can't get over how cheap and how many books that the stores here have... i wish that we had the same thing back home in perth. =( but oh well, at least i did find what i was after! =)) oooh, they also had a shoe discount store - and we all know how dangerous it is to put me in a shoe store.. lol. did i mention that i bought a pair of flip flops when we were in transit at changi airport? go charles and keith!! i just couldn't resist that either. hahah. but at this outlet store, i did find a pair of sneakers - so i bought my adidas shoes. hahah. i've actually had my eye on them for quite a few months, but they were selling for abt 110 in perth... and since my wallet really wasn't reaching that deep, i passed. lol. but yeah they were on sale - and the were the all white colour i wanted - so i bought them! hahah. =)) annywayy, after hitting burlington, we headed north again, and got ourselves safely back to vancouver. =)

saturday
so even though thursday and friday were jammed pack with travelling, my aunty still booked us a trip to vancouver island to visit the capital of BC - victoria. this was the most funniest/worst/nightmarish experience that i have ever had - EVER. lol. okay so imagine this. we had to wake up at 5am in order to get to our pickup point at 6:30am. so it was already a bad start to the day. thennnn, once we got there, there were about 4 or 5 different buses, so we had to find which one was ours - eventually we did. once we got on the bus and were ready to begin our tour - the tour guide lady (whose name was lillian) welcomed us by saying "ni men hao". as soon as those three dreadful words came out of her mouth - i knew things were about to get a whole lot worse. yup you guessed it - this was a tour for chinese people. okay, so i might LOOK chinese? but i sure don't speak it!! it was soooooo GAY! and get this, 15 minutes after she had launched into her explanation of stuff - she then asked IN MANDARIN, "is there anyone who doesn't understand mandarin?" so my mum quickly told me to put my hand up.. then! again IN MANDARIN she asked "what language do you speak?" my mum said english... so then she was like "oh okay, i try to speak engrish for you ah. i not veli good, sorry ah". *cringe*. so you can just imagine what the rest of my 14 hours were like. anyway, apart from the actual tour led stuff, victoria was really beautiful - we went to the butchart gardens too - sooooooooooo beautiful! i've never seen flowers like that b4 (although i must admit it's not really my kind of thing). but yeah, exteremly gorgeous. =)) we were stopped in "downtown" victoria (it's not really much of a downtown area), for about an hour or so - mum and i went camera crazy! hahaha. the scenery was just so pictureseque that we couldn't resist! hahaa. so here's one of me at the victorian legislative building!

well, the tour finished at 8pm - and my uncle picked us up, brought us home and we crashed. lol. so that's why today - we just had a really relaxed day. i didn't go to church though, but i slept in till about 1pm... after lunch we went to metropolis/metrotown - the biggest shopping center in BC and did a bit of walking around. oh i found a hair straightener/hair curler! hahaha. it might've been a waste of money coz i do already have one back home - but this one is awesome. lol. and i think i'll ebay it/sell it after i'm done here... but either way, it'll still work back in australia. hahahah.

if you've gotten til the end of this - congrats!! i think this is my longest post ever ever ever. mind you it's taken me about 3 hours to put it all together! hahaha. so okay, that's an update on what i've been up to! we're actually leaving for the rockies tm - we're going to jasper, banff, kamloops, kelowna, lake louise, icefields parkway and calgary. we're gonna try to do the trip in 5 nights and 6 days... hahah. i hope we get to do it all! i really really REALLY wanted to go all the way up to edmonton - but i don't think we'll have time... just so you know, there's a mall called "west edmonton mall" and it has over 800 shops!!! and an indoor swimming pool right in the middle of it all. hahahaha. it'd totally be my paradise hey!! but too bad since we can't go all the way up there. we fly off for toronto this time next week - so things are getting a little bit more rushed!

anyway, wish me luck for my roadtrip! i'll try and post some stuff along the way! i'm missing you all terribly back home - i'm getting kinda homesick coz things are so different over here. just for the record, i could never ever live here. australia is still better!! lol =p but this is good for the experience anyway. ;) hahah.

okieeee. i've gtg - packing time!

luv ya all lots & will post soon!

jaa.

- pheebs.
ooookie! today was preettty productive hey! we managed to see and do a lot of things. =)) quite a few firsts today too. here's how the day went:

9am.
i woke up reluctantly

11am.
we left the condo, mum and i took the skytrain down to downtown vancouver - burrard st.

12pm.
arrived in the downtown area and proceeded to walk and walk and walk and walk. as "special" as the downtown area is, i honestly didn't think it was anything special. lol. not the "wow" effect that i had back in japan all those years ago. hahah. but yeah - robson st was still pretty spectacular. heaps of little boutique shops - but not many malls.

3pm.
we got sick of the downtown area so we took the sky train back to metropolis shopping centre - 500 shops! woohoo. but yet again, i didn't really feel like shopping much. i did manage however to find a kick ass journal - i've been looking for one for a while so i'm happy. =))

3:30pm.
my uncle and aunty met up with us - and we left for north vancouver.

4pm.
we arrived at capilano suspension bridge. this was a pretty funny experience. they've made the whole place sort of like a theme park - so there's lots of people dressed up in olden day clothes - even some "native" indians playing/singing their songs (badly i might add... and get this - one guy was even wearing glasses - how authentic..! lol) but walking over the bridge was pretty cool.

look closely at the ml description - how random! it's 591mls! lollll. =p bizzare hey.

here's me being silly... hahah. although the cliffhanger walk was kinda scary =p

here you can see the capilano bridge in the background! this was taken AFTER we had dizzily crossed the bridge already...

5:30pm.
we left capilano and headed further north towards grouse mountain. here we took the skyride cable car up to the top of the peak - 4110ft up. what a sight! truly amazing hey. we walked around, watched a movie about grizzly bears, and then went to see the REAL grizzlies! they're sooo cute! but so sad that they're fenced up in captivity...

7pm.
we came down from the mountain and went in search of a restaurant to eat at. we finally decided to have korean bbq (my inspiration i might add), so we ended up at cho-sun restaurant. the food was pretty good hey - yum char yum.

mmmmmm. koreaann bbq... mmmmm. heheh. =)

9:30pm.
by this time we had finished dinner and headed back to the condo to crash.

overall, today was a really good day - the weather was perfect and so was all the food along the way - maybe except macas though.. but i'll leave that story for another post. hahah.

i really should be sleeping soon bcoz we're heading down to seattle early tm morning. we're spending the whole day there, staying the night, and then coming back on friday evening. then on saturday morning, mum and i are headed off on a full day tour of victoria (the capital of BC)! soo i think the next couple of days will be jammed pack with all sorts of stuff - i'll let you know how it all goes!

until then,

jyaa

-pheebs.
here's some quick photos!

this is my uncle and aunty's high rise condo building - where we're staying..

this is the view from their balcony! if you look close enough smack bang in the middle, see the mountain? it's mount baker in washington state. hahah.

now this one is just because. =p

well i did upload a few more - and decided that webshots sucks in the process. haha.

helooooooooo vancouver!

heyaa! this is me blogging in from vancouver - three thousand million miles away from home!! okay, so i am missing perth a great deal - but i've seen soooo many crazay things!! just for the record, i realize now that i really really really hate long flights.. luckily though since i was on the 1am flight from perth to singapore, i did sleep most of the way... so that flight seemed to go really really fast. but we did our spore to seoul flight at like 10am... now that one just SUCKED. couldn't really sleep and we had lil kids in our cabin who just kept crying and crying and crying... the seoul to vancouver was abt 9 hours... and it was preeeety funny. we left seoul at 6:55pm... so i got to sleep at abt 9pm.. since it was night - even outside was like dark as.. but! when i woke up arnd 2 and a bit hours later - and get this! it was sunnyy!! it was kinda like time travelling hey! preeety funny - i was heaps disoriented after that hey. we got into vancouver at 1pm (5am perth time). and were picked up by my aunt and uncle...

so after arriving, we first went for lunch - suprize suprize - at a hongky spot - suprize suprize. hahhaa. since we were in richmond (which apparently is hong kong vancouver), i could've sworn i was still in singapore hey. like everyyyone was azn and everyone spoke in canto!! even the chick who sold me my mobile contract thought i was hongky and started talking to me in canto...! lol. i really did feel like i was in s'pore. and then it got even funnier when she was picking a phone number for me - and then she saw one with an "888" in it and she went beserk! hahaha. she was like oh "yes yes yes - take this one! i've never seen such a good number before!!" hongkies and their fat fat fat. lolllll. annnywayyyyy. after eating a doing a bit of shopping, we arrived at my uncle and aunty's place - their new condo in a place called new westminster... it's apparently an old part of town (the old capital of BC)? but it seriously doesn't look like it... they've built lots of high rise condos arnd - the place looks sooooo good! hahah. =)) so after showering (i felt soooooo gross hey, no other details needed)... and chilling for abit - we went out for dinner... get this - azn food again... hahah. dinner was actually quite good - we went to some seafood restaurant in burnaby (a suburb-type thing just next to new west)... after dinner we wanted to buy some stuff and by this time it was like 10 at night - so we went to a convenience supermarket called 'safeway'. they sell EVERYTHING, and they're open everyday until midnight!! hahaha it's pretty awesome hey,. and the best thing i saw was that they sell my shampoo and conditioner!! hahah. i was super relieved. =)) (we all know abt my parralellist theory between the level of my hair cleanliness and my mood =p). so yeahh. very important. hahah. thennnnn after safeway i came back and crashed. =p oh oh oh. my mysoul email account chucked a hissy fit last night.. so i'm not exactly able to use it to send - which suckssss. so i've reverted to using gmail. so yahhh if you wanna send me stuff - send to my gmail account okiee?

welllll i'm gonna go now... it's like 1:28am. hahah. and we're hitting downtown tm. =))) so i'd better be off. hahah. =p

i'm uploding photos right now to webshots... but i seem to be pretty scatterbrained at the moment, i've started doing one thing, then forgot about it... then opened another browser and done something else... heck it's taken me an hour to crunch out this post! hahaha. dahhhhh. and it doesn't help that there's quite a few photos and webshots is taking yonks. hahaah..

*waits 10 minutes*

okay, i give up. i'm gonna post this first - i promise i'll post the pics soon!

love you guys, and miss you heaps too!

luv lots,
pheebs.
hahaha. whoops! was running late last time - went out for dinner with the chubs to celebrate nadia's b'day! i've got heaps of pics - i'll upload them later! i'm still trying to find a good freebie website that i can use to upload all my photobooks to.. hahah. i'll find one soon - in time for canada anyway. =))

well, i've got lots to say now. yesterday was my last day at curtin FS. it was a really good day suprizingly... (NOT like tuesday - what a crappy crap crap day!!!) but it was so sweet! people actually brought stuff in for morning tea! cecilia made rainbow jelly WITH fruits... loyda brought a fruit salad... and there were muffins, chips, biscuits, sausage rolls - just sooooo much food! oh! there were kumquats too. hahahahhah. had to live up to our azn-nesss. lol! it was just sad you know? i was kinda embarressed too... wasn't sure what to say, how to act etc... but yeah. i've gotta say that i loved working there. and who would've thought that hey! i mean phoebe? in a finance department? helllllll no. hahah. i'm freaking numbers adverse okay. lol. so yeah it was a big big big suprize! but i'm glad that i took the job and i'm glad that i stuck my feet into it - coz we all know how close i was to NOT taking the job. lol. but yeah - it gave me the chance to meet some really really great people - people with whom i think i'll be friends with for quite some time to come. =)) so yeah - it was just really sad leaving yesterday...

wellll with only 4 days left - i really shouldn't have plonked my butt down here (i'm sitting on the floor in my family room) and brought out blogger. hahaha. i've got sooooooo much stuff to do! go to the bank, buy the electrical converters, get my shampoo and conditioner, buy socks...! the list goes on and on and on! it's getting toooooo close! i've been plannning this trip for like months - maybe even years! and now when the time comes to leave, i'm sad! go figure!! i keep saying this, but it just sucks that i'm leaving at a point where everything in my life seems to make sense. everything and everyone who's important to me is here with me now - i'm just scared that when i leave and then come back (yes even though i know that 6 months isn't THAT long!), things will be different - and then i'll have to change and re-adjust all over again! i mean... i just can't imagine having to live through the year 2006 all over again. coz readjusting and changing would really make it feel that way. i guess i'm just scared. so call me a wuss, call me a scared-y-cat. i just have my doubts of whether or not i'm cut out for the solitary world. i need people! i need my friends, i need my family, i need my car, i need my room, i need my everything.

okay okay. this is no time to go and get sad now. tsk tsk tsk. i gotta flyyyyy. to the bank first anyway. =))

wish me a safe landing ;)

luv lots, pheebs.

it took me long enough!

oookie. so it took me long enough to start posting again. i guess the anxiety of actually leaving just started to hit me. so things have been really hectic lately! working full time... and trying to get everything ready for toronto.

i can't believe i'm leaving so soon - it feels just like yesterday when i first handed in my form... and truth be told? i'm really nervous and scared about what's to come. i already feel homesick hey. i can just imagine myself walking down the bustling streets then coming across something that reminds me of home - i'll probably burst into tears right then and there! watta crybaby. lol.

ahh! i'm late! gotta go. byeeeeeeee.
