Antelope Island

With the buffalo run fast approaching I began to get the pre-run jitters, so we made a family trip out to antelope island to scope out the race course. I can’t believe I have lived in Utah all my life and never been to antelope island. It was a very fun day. The antelope really are playing and buffalo really are roaming. Sing along. The kids loved it. It made me realize two things. Number one, what other great places am I missing out on that are so close, and second I think I am in trouble on this run. It looks hard!!

First Snow

Today we received the first real snow storm of the season (which is long over due in my opinion). Along with the early morning shoveling came the building of the annual snowman. When I walked inside from shoveling snow and walking Jake to the bus stop I found Nick, still in his pajamas, wearing Jakes shoes trying to get outside to build a snowman. For the rest of the morning that is all he talked about (at least that is the only word I could understand). When Jakes friends came over for play group we all went outside and not only built "frosty" but also frosty's pet dog. It is kind of a short snowman, but that is what you get with too many builders. Everyone has a different idea. :)

First Christmas Present

I am a HUGE fan of advent calendars. I love the idea of having a new surprise everyday you wake-up, a new door to open with a present inside. I feel like it just adds something to the excitement of Christmas, so when I found a Lego advent calendar on line I bought it immediately. Not only is it an advent calendar but it combines another love of mine, and my kids, Lego’s. Jacob woke up this morning to a present from Santa under the tree, he was somewhat surprised and confused but once that wore off the excitement set in. Each day he opens a new door and builds a small Lego figure, which will eventually make a small city. Now comes the hard part, the constant questioning everyday about why can’t we just open all the doors.

Two Hours and Eleven Minutes

I first fell in love with Snow Canyon when I visited it with a Herpetology class I took in college. I loved it so much I even wrote a paper about it for a Geology class. Every time I visit St. George it is a regular stop. So when I found out there was a half marathon course running through the canyon I jumped at the chance. Right now I am not so in love with the canyon. It was a HARD run. I am having flashbacks of running the Wasatch Back Ragnar Race. My muscles are stiff and sore and my brain in not working right. Hopefully it will soon pass, training for the Buffalo Run 25K starts soon--that is if I decide to run again. On the brighter side I did beat my time on the Provo Half Marathon by 4 minutes.

Pumpkin Carving

Jake was so excited to carve pumpkins this year. Adam gave him the job of cleaning out the pumpkin "guts" and he loved it. Although next year, he informed us, Nick gets this job and he gets dads job of cutting the pumpkins.
