Healthy Boy & Healthy Baby

Filson had his 18mth check-up today (a little late....he actually turned 19mths on Tuesday) and he is a healthy, growing boy. He weighed in at 28lb 5oz (although I swear he feels like 40lbs whenever I pick him up these days) & is over 33" tall. I happened to have the camera in my purse & snapped a few pics of him in the robe. He always looks so funny in it & today he seemed to get an especially big one.
Yesterday we went to my midwife visit & our little peanut seems to be very healthy as well. I am 24 wks along & getting bigger by the day! Marianne stuck Filson up on the table next to me & had him do my belly measurement & find the heartbeat. The heartbeat was very fast & he just looked at me puzzled & then started making the noise he makes when he hears an airplane. I guess he thought he was hearing a plane outside & didn't realize that sound was coming from inside my belly!

Back to Boring Old Life with Mom

After a weekend of trampolines, fire station tours & strip clubs, looks like it will be pretty boring around here now that Mom is back in town! I guess the boys got along just fine without me!! These are pics of him yesterday at Wrightsville Beach Park getting in some more fun before they picked me up at the airport. They bought a shark kite & had enough wind to give it a try. It sounds like both Dad & Filson had a blast!

I missed my guys, but I had a fun, quick trip to Iowa and was able to see lots of good friends. Friday night we had a little party at the Davidson's with the Watson clan & my parents. Saturday I shopped & hung out in Des Moines with Mom & Dad & Saturday night was the engagement party where I was able to meet Luis & hang out with my old college friends that I had not seen in years. Five of us are pregnant, so unfortunately (or fortunately!) for Jess it wasn't quite the wild night we would have thrown for her 10 years ago!! Here I am with Stella, Haydn & Hannah sporting the St. Paddy shades. (I didn't take my camera, so swiped this photo off another blog....thanks, Sara!) A big thanks to The Davidson's & The McNulty's for the airport rides & allowing me to crash at your casa's. It was so fun to see everyone!

Boys Weekend!

What a weekend...! After dropping Mom off, we met JohnD for lunch at slice of life. We contemplated the opportunities that awaited us this weekend. WOW, what ever shall we do without mom??? Then the phone rang, and rang, and rand all day long to remind me it was still a workday. We did finally get to meet some friends down at one of the old watering holes - Kefi's - late in the afternoon but we didn't stay long for we knew Saturday was going to be a big day for us. The first pic was Filson, straight out of the gate! We had breakfast at Joe's, then had to go check out a friends new boat down at Max's place. Filson was e-static when he found the trampoline. Afterwards, we went over to Big E's to help set the timing on Star's land cruiser. He's becoming quite the mechanic. It was such a nice day we wanted to go out on the boat but decided we should save something for Sunday Funday so we headed over to the fire department to check out their rigs before lunch. After lunch, we headed over to Ella's birthday party for some fun. Since Ella is only one, it was rather early when they kicked everyone out so we decided to head over to one of the local dance halls to catch the midget dancer. Quite a show to end the day! Tired and spent we decided to head home. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings...

Party Time

Two of the girls from playgroup turned 1 today and they had a joint party this afternoon. Ella is our good friends' daughter that Filson spends a lot of time with & I know some of you will enjoy seeing her in her tiara ready to dive into her first cupcake. There were about 12 kids under 2 there, so it was quite a housefull & the Little Guy had a blast. I didn't pull my camera out until the end, when he pretty much had the ball pit to himself. But this is where he preferred to spend most of his time diving into it & throwing around the balls, much to the dismay of all the younger, dainty little girls who were sitting so contently in it!

Little Musician

John found his old harmonica this morning & Filson wanted to give it a try. It didn't take him long to figure out how to make a sound & now he doesn't want to put it down. They left for lunch and I could see him sitting in his car seat with it still attached to his lips as they pulled away.

Weekend Fun

The weather was beautiful this weekend & it was great to get out and enjoy it. Saturday Filson & I hit the Wilmington Chocolate Festival, which was heaven for the prego lady! After spending over an hour hitting up every booth for their samples, Filson was getting a little restless and was excited to find they had a play area. He played with the train table, basketball hoop, slide, and even attempted to do a Valentine craft.
We discovered this robe he's wearing as I sorted through clothes Sat. morning & pulled out the 2T things. We knew it was time to trade out the clothes as some of his shirts are a little short on him & we haven't been able to fasten his pants around his big cloth diaper booty for a few weeks now. Thanks to my extremely generous sister-in-laws, it's always like going on a huge shopping spree when I get to go through the new tubs of clothes they have passed on! He checked himself out in the mirror & thought he looked pretty funny, so ran around for awhile with his hood up.
Yesterday we hit the water with some friends and took a booze cruise down to Dockside for the afternoon. Filson & his buddy, Ella, who turns 1 next week, came along for the ride and they were troopers. They both loved sitting in the Captain's seat thinking they were in charge!

Goodbye, Ghia!

Yesterday we said goodbye to John's '64 Karmann Ghia. We all loved the car & had a lot of fun in it. I'm not sure who will miss it more....Filson or his Dad? Hard to believe, but we just didn't seem to have much free time to cruise around the beach in a fun little car ever since the Little Munckin arrived!! Here's the Little Guy taking it for one last "spin". Maybe someday....say 20 years?....we can get another!

Fun with the Cousins

Here are a few pics from our week in Greensboro. We spent Tuesday-Friday there, Filson & I hung out with the Clark's while John went on down to Atlanta for work. Filson thought he was in heaven getting to play with Holden (6) & Reece (4) in their amazing play room. The big cousins were so nice to share all their fun toys & to entertain the little guy. He had so much fun that it was next to impossible to get him to sleep....he was so concerned he may miss out on something fun with his cousins! He made up for it yesterday when he crashed for a 3 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon. We had a great time & send a big thanks to Jennifer & James & the boys for all the great meals & entertaining us for a few days!
