first offical day of school and our first project came in after our crash course in sketching. Looking at pro sketcher's work would make ur eyes pop! you can even tell the material it is made out of!!! woooah... anyway first project was titled "Unlearning". Nice and pleasant thing about architecture is that there is no right and wrong. No Tys, no model answer.
So we were supposed to draw a random 15 dots on a piece of paper and then to connect it with lines. each dot only could have up to 3 connections attached to it.
Then u had to cut the whole thing up without cutting away any one piece out of e paper as an individual piece, therefore everything was connected to each other as one piece that should collaspe into a 2D paper if it was on the table. You then had to fold it into your own unique structure by only using slots, folds. Not by other external forms of connections such as stapels, paperclips, glue or tape to hold the parts together.
To sum up their aim for this exercise. They would want us to think out of the box and to be creative. i thought mine would turn out to be crap but hey looks nice to me hahaha. Everyone else's looked great too! As long as it stands the teacher would approve of it.

selecting a CCA
met up with rachel today to meet her friends :) nice people... need i say more? hehe. ok. i didnt really talk to them so i wouldnt know what to say bout them.
Went to flesh imp and saw the girl incharge of the shop and my eyes went O_O
so freaking hot lol.... but u know we cannot lust, so i covered ma eyes and walked away ahhaha or so did i? Hahahha Yeah yeah ok im sure u caught me red handed, i didnt walk away i went in and started look at shirts.... (Ahem not Her shirt) but nice shirts which were on discount. My friend also mentioned to me that there was a 50% discount on flesh imp shirts but all were sold out :( HOY im not a CHEEKO lah... hahha... i was truly looking at shirts that i thought were real nice, i just well.... took a really long time hahha.
My main point is... selecting a CCA booooooo...... there are so many choices to choose from. From The Youth Flying Club to Dragon Boating and even to The Anime Club. i cant make up my mind really, such a bewildering array of CCAs.
There are 80 CCAs in SP but i dont think i'll be joining buddhist club will i? or anime club, dragon boating, body building club, eating club, wonderful wives club, slacking club.... lol nah i made the last three up. so that will leave me around 65 CCAs left. STillllll.... sigh so many so so many choices.... i should just try all hahah... i'll probably collapse... i was thinking of canoeing, drama or volleyball....... any suggestions?
Oh and its really ironic that SESQUIPEDALOPHOBIA is the fear of long words... it like a poor person is trying to describe his phobia but gets afraid of his own phobia, LITERALLY...

pictures 1
i don't often post pictures but i think its about time :)

Yeah bet most of u didnt know my hobby is underwater landscaping - aquascaping.
so it began like this, half filled with a few hardy plants that i know would most definately survive most water conditions. There are 4 Different terracings but i ran short of a little sand say around 5kgs? Darn lol but nevermind i still can create a sense of elevation by planting plants of different heights, over 66kgs or silica sand went in, a layer of nutrients where liquid fertiliser would also be poured in, insertion of the CO2 diffuser, filter installation. The back is made out of styrofoam.
So this was the aquarium in its 2nd week and as you can see its brimming with much more life and you would also notice the increased number of plants. i know its unconventional to buy fishes before you actually let the tank settle and allow the plants to root. but u know, i couldnt stand it so i got a few tiny fishes lol. And i said TINY so that they will not disrupt plant growth.
i had to reduce the temperature as most plants live in a temperature range of 25-29 degrees celcius. i did not want to buy a chiller as would cost a bomb of $350!!!! ouch. Besides the high price tag it would also generate a lot of heat in order to cool the water of the aquarium down to 25 degrees. Wouldnt like my house to become an oven would i. So instead i got fans which cooled the water from 31 degrees to 27 degrees, not bad not bad only dowside would be that the water evaporates quite fast - 7 buckets of water a week and it might be noisy but it doesnt really bother me, its tolerable. Some plants like the one you see at the bottom left hand side is growing with much zeal but under it that particular plant(the carpet moss at e bottom) is rotting lol. It needs a temperature of 26.5 degrees celcius but i only manage to get to a low of 27.... argh darn.
With some plants out growing each other i decided to rearrange the tank and get rid of some unwanted plants that would eventually die anyway because they would not be able to survive the climatic conditions that are avaliable in the aquarium.

Hatchet Fish :] strange looking fella.

So im now into the third week of setting up my aquarium and this is my final product, or at least one that im really satisfied in. The plants have yet to establish themselves but all in all the PH levels are correct, nitrate levels are correct, temperature is, phosphourous levels are correct, no algae breakouts. Looking good.... yeah i know its not as aestatically pleasing as the professionals but i say its a darn good try for a beginner lol...
Oh and theres a hidden meaning behind my arragement. Take a look at the rock covered moss on the bottom right hand corner, if you place your faith on God's Solid rock of Love you would eventually reach heaven with is represented by the highest level of terracing in the far behind left hand corner of the tank. The bogwood which spans all levels of the terracing represents our life which is winding which goes up and down, which more or less explains the good and bad times that we have. So even at our lowest and a time that we are most down (which is at the bottom of the sword plants) we must look to God for our strength :'] The pot is a symbol that God is our refuge and that we should seek comfort in knowing that he is always with us along our journey in life, thats why its placed next to the bogwood yeah. The tiles going under the bogwood show a pathway and it represents our holy walk with God which must be kept clean like the white marble shown, it also represents the reminders that God has given to us to remind us that we are still on a journey to heaven hehehe.... pretty cool eh?

Middle section of the aquarium where it is the centre of focus as the sword plants are used as specimen plants which are then contrasted by fluffy foilage behind.

Side view (left) plants include : Vallisneria americans 'mini twister' yeah that grass like plant that twists. Vallisneria americans (natans), the cousins of the plant stated above they are locate towards the left of this picture. you can also see the cabomba caroliniana in the left background, the fluffy looking ones with yellow stems.
I do hope you like all the effort i put into it and thank you that you spent time to read through, its truly my passion hehe ;]

wonky
everything is screwing up on me, gah... stupid spare cpu doesnt turn on anymore, ipod hung on me, main computer has some problem with its monitor, i cant see my tagboard - which might be a good thing. Quite worried for my ipod tho. i really hope it gets back to its senses, dont wanna go back to apple centre again.
Today i was all ready for school or so i thought so. In the end this week ended up to be another week of orientation within the course of architecture itself. Lets see, everyone in my class seems real real nice and easy to get along with and not forgeting our form teacher - Mr Chieu. heheehe. Met quite a few people from the different classes of architecture and i gotta say that this course is really lacking in girls, the ratio is around 2:3. But still the people are nice and they Speak ENGLISH, thank goodness its not hokkien. Still pondering on which CCA should i join, really pray that i can juggle both school work and CCA with much responsibility and discipline.
Oh and i did i mention that CHRISTOPHER NEO is in architecture too.....!!!! O_O of all people, dont know how is he but what i heard from justin....not good :S he sounds irritating. Nah i dun think he'll be like that, or will he?
I hate my locker, i feel as if i was conned by the company that allocated me the locker. its dusty, old, flimsy and pathatically small.
i went to the corridor where the lockers were place. Woah no way man.... its a scene literally lifted off a horror movie. It was a dark corridor with only the exit signs to light the way to the lockers, it was dripping from every crevice because it was raining, there were buckets on the ground to collect the rainwater and there are nooks and crannies lining the corridor.
Its goes like those horror movies where a girl would go towards her locker and due to the unique acoustics of the corridor everything is amplified, footsteps, the droplets of water dripping into the buckets, the russling of leaves at the far end of the corridor. She reaches her locker in the most gittery way anyone could. she reaches for her lock on her locker, she turns the knob but then forgets her code in her tense state. While placing her fingers to her chin as she ponders she feels something wet. Unable to see what it is due to the dim lighting she walkes under an exit sign that provided the little security with the minimal light it provided. It was blood. Then a blood curling scream at the far end of the corridor. With her heart racing she ran for the exit but she had left her bag hanging by the locker. in her state of panic she runs back for her bag but then a dark figure flashes before her eyes, obscuring her vision for a moment...... ETC ETC..... yadda yadda... yeah u get the big picture lol..
Met timothy, e one shuyan asked me to meet. hehe didnt know he was an nco too. Not bad nice people in architecure :)

official start of school
tomorrow's the first offical start of school, hopfully it'll be a good day. Cant wait to get to know my classmates better :)
Went to Samuel's church on friday. Its a small closely knited church which amazingly i bumped into ernest lol, didnt expect him to be there.
Nothing has going on really, but i did have a nice catching up session with shuyan and found out that she accepted christ in december. learning new things bout someone everyday. Shuyan is going back on tuesday morning :( oh no means i have only one more day to talk to her before she heads back to auzzie land.
somethings that i learnt through my life so far
- you can never please everyone.
-you cannot avoid conflicts
-you can never pity everyone
basically the world is selfish to a certain extent.... but however i do not leave out the fact that there are those few that are willing to help. But u know, even friends kill each other off.

Flag day
flag day kinda sucks... lol really seriously it does. But you know your helping the poor and needy yes yes i know, it sure makes your day when people with "black faces" do not even bother to take a glance at you. it seems that their brains register, "People holding cans, identical shirts, repeating themselves over and over again!" Equals AVOID... if not i could just whip out my handphone and pretend to talk to someone. Yeah thats what i saw, this guy walked passed 3 times with his phone to his ear but all throughout he didnt utter a word! oh and not to mention the speed at which he was walking, clear intentions to appear to look busy.
u know i find that Ah mas' donate more than younger folks and are more grateful when donating. i also notice that more women donate more than men. But oh well.... all depends on one's own decision whether to give or not.
Some would even bypass us. sigh...its disheartening that they wouldnt donate 20cents for a sticker that would might as well save them all the trouble from walking a further distance to avoid us or any other volunteers for that matter.
But all in all, people are quite giving :) which i really appreciate for them to actually stop and to take to heart that they're money would be helping the poor - i hope. At least not to buy gold taps. speaking of which some people who donate ask questions such as "Where is the money going to? what organisation are you representing?" probably fearing that they're money would be used for the wrong purposes, you know expliotation etc...
There was this cute kid that came up and i repeated the usual line that some people either dred or embrace. So he came up to me, took a sticker and slotted it into my can.. hmm... then he proceeded to taking another sticker for himself lol!

first day in Poly
was pretty boring i would say.... all the admin stuff to be done and so many different many different accounts to set up. Oh how i crindge at flag day which i have to go on wednesday to rattle my tin can at people passing by hopefully grabbing their attention or to the extent that it irritates them so much that they'll be forced to donate in order for me to pause for a moment to peel off a miserable sticker for them before continuing my incoherent rattle which would then force them to donate again.
I went for CADC's camp last week and i must say i stonned more or less for the three days and two nights, everything was in chinese!!! there were no malays and 3/4 of the song book was in chinese, i have this irking feeling that it was deliberate to not invite any other race to e camp.
i heard the B&E camp beat the CADC's camp flat. i did not go but i think i did need sometime to myself so i did not go.
My class is 04 and the people in it seem quite amiable :) see how everything goes.
