Juan Carlos Ferrero pierced my bike tyre..
ok so maybe he didnt. haha but it was a mixed day of luck yesterday. Came back home at 3am after Blacknote wasnt playing music too good and wanted to check prices for the tennis finals for the Comunitat Valencia Open when i saw news of a Safin v Ferrero clash that afternoon at 330pm. like hello how exciting is that! would never be that close to the both of them ever again. got Andrea, her sis and Pasi to go with me within a mornings notice (have i said how much i love spontaneous people) and according to the website, it was at calle botanico. which according to googlemap is in Alboraia. after a few near accidents where i crashed into a pole because i was holding a map inone hand and my phone in the other, leaving me none to brake, i totally dented my brakes and killed my gears (even more so than before). worst still, we were out of the city and realised it was the wrong location. after asking the local police.. (i stormed into the station looking like i was going to report a crime or sth) they were so kind to point me out to the right path (all this in spanish! woohoo to me) we FINALLY made it to the location right on time of the big match. as pasi n i pulled into the courts to park our bikes, pasi called me to follow him.. as i followed, it was cos ferrero was RIGHT behind him stretching and talking to his coach. we were like.. OHMYGODDDD FERRERO! yea pretty much starstruck.. pasi started taking a billion fotos which i will steal from because im EXTREMELY paiseh to do that sort of thing. and after he moved into the clubhouse, we went to the tents to buy pasi his ticket... there, we met stefano, one of the other erasmus students in our spanish class who is studying.. get this.. sciences of gastronomy. how cool is that!? (gula2 mata juga) anyway, we watched safin beat ferrero in a 3 set match.. (only cos thats the max no. of sets possible, prob why the tix dont cost so much) which is a shame because ferrero was the most popular player at the tournament, esp on home ground. but it was hilarious when a friend exclaimed ahh.. safin.. so sexayy. .LOL. during the break before the next match, we walked around the sponsors tents and pasi went up to some random tennis player who ive never heard of (but was quite young n cute) and asked him for his autograph and to make it out to ili.. hahhah omg i ran the other direction when pasi did this. paiseh! but i have the postcard now :D i cant tell if it was the same guy who was watching the ferrer match later, but he was cute too. hahha crap.. either im lowering my standards or ive just been blind the past few mths. we stayed for the last match of the day, top seed ferrer beat ivan navarro in a pretty good match. straight sets but good plays within each one. the grounds werent so big, so our views were pretty good and its super easy to stalk yr fav tennis player. lol. gah i wished sg had more international sports events. valencia always seems to have events with just about international famous stars come by and it doesnt even cost a bomb.. have i mentioned how much i love spain? :) oh yea.. last string of bad news, someone pierced our tyres, i figured it was ferrero cos we must have brought him bad luck.. n he wud have the motive to seek revenge haha. sigh. i hope pasi can fix it asap. i feel so handicapped w/o it these days. esp on a 8am-7pm school day.

i went to the valencia library yesterday!! hee
roberta showed me where it was.. so she borrowed a lithuanian book, and we both borrowed spanish infantil books.. which i must say is STILL very difficult to understand. i got a story that i knew - the emperor's new clothes but the vocab and grammar is like.. what!??! no entiendo! i must say, I think I'm going to take a longer time to get through that book than i did with the english one.. which is btw.. the da vinci code.. haha i have not read it before this.. yesyes im how passe but i dont follow the crowd.. or rather.. i just lag behind alot. anyway, I finished it in a day. started at about 2pm maybe.. siestaed then snacked then snoozed at abt 2am.. woke up at 8am and continued reading all the way tiill about.. 1030am this morning? haha i guess it was quite a good read. but the ending was a tad disappointing.. the first time i read the clue it said ANCIENT roslin for goodness sakes.. n wondered how come they still went to edinburgh despite he himself saying ancient roslin was in france earlier in the book.. beh but i liked the interesting facts strewn in between.
more thoughts
14) i left valencia n the trees on the street were bare but now completely green!
15) my favorite snack went up by 5 eurocents since i left
16) i hate wearing the same clothes over n over again
17) i need more interesting things to cook

1-1 again.
Well, wonder what the outcome of the 3rd meeting of arsenal v liverpool will be like. beh
A couple of thoughts throughout the trip
1) I love the idea of Spain as home. I think I nearly cried when I boarded the plane from Paris Beauvais to Madrid Barajas and the steward greeted que tal!? n thought, WOOHOO SPANISH! sth i understand! home! was in the brightest of moods upon arrival.
2) Parc Retiro de Madrid is the most beautiful park I've been to. Incredibly romantic and peaceful. Everything a park should be and more. Duckies swimming in a pond complete with little yellow ducklings. Stunning white horses strutting(?) (what do horses do when they dont gallop?) gallantly even though it's just the police on them. (I'm surprised there hasnt been some cheesy romantic comedy about the modern day prince charming on a white horse, being some policeman) Old men meeting up to play that weird ball game I never understand. Random people jogging, cute ones included. People and their pets having fun in the parks. what bliss! And because the park is so big, its big enough to accomodate everyone and not have it swarm like ECP on weekends. lovess it. Anyone just sitting on a bench, snacking, stoning, reading.. simply enjoying themselves. At this point though, I felt the loneliest. I was in Paris. I saw the eiffel tower, the arc, the city which is supposed to be the most romantic place on earth, but I didn't feel sad that I was experiencing it alone. But at that moment in the park, that was the moment I wanted to share with someone. sigh. is this misery really self-inflicted?

I immediately remembered this link Xtina sent me a couple of weeks back, and thought, wow how wonderful that would be. http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=60134
the proposal in the park in the rain. captured in a series of fotos. i swear, my future husband is going to need to be a hella of a romantic to beat anything I imagine for myself haha.
3) i love hana! she feeds me well and makes me awfully comfortable among her friends and chic petit town of troyes, which I guess 1 week is just about enough time to experience it without getting too bored lol. I'm missing random good boulangeries
4) Hana's friends are hilarious. I end up speaking spanish to them in france. and am amused by their use of singlish and one particular friend's desire of video-ing hana n i speak singlish in a totally made up scene. which makes me realise, singlish really isnt something you can switch on and off that consciously like an accent. It's HARD! even to switch it on. and to switch it off after you get the hang of it haha. the funniest is when hana's friends say "wah-piang eh" damn cute!
5) It's easy to mix up languages. I was Si/hola-ing the entire first few days in Paris and Oui/Merci-ing in Madrid.
6) BCN is really shopping paradise
7) how come no one ever mentions the fact that parc guell is on a hill?
8) there are things I didn't do in Paris, that serious paris adorers would kill me for.
9) BCN is crazy touristy
10) I need to live in a country with open skies/fields with good shopping & weather. Perhaps if valencia had better shopping, it would be paradise :)
11) Somewhere along the seine, we've decided that hana will work in Paris, I will work in Madrid and then when we finally get married to some hot spanish/french guy where we will go off to Germany to raise our children. Sounds like a good plan doesn't it?
12) I saw snow for the first time, upon arrival in Beauvais but that doesnt count cos it was more like dandruff on my hair.
13) I get very grumpy and upset in the windy cold outside

I've had very many thoughts and experiences along the way. some good and some bad. but all i want to do is just store my fotos. this is the problem when ure laptop only has a 3 yr warranty. & my laptop panel is also acting up. sigh. PLEASE not here.. not now.
I'll update more once I figure out this nonsense. sigh
