MADRID, June 28 (Reuters) - Spain's World Cup exit to French 'dinosaurs' was greeted with criticism of coach Luis Aragones but also optimism about the young team's future.

'Total Letdown' read the front page of Wednesday's sports daily Sport while AS said: 'It was beautiful while it lasted'.

Spain, who began in spectacular fashion with a 4-0 win over Ukraine, lost 3-1 to France's ageing team in the second round on Tuesday, living up to a reputation as perennial under-achievers.

Aragones was singled out by sports daily Mundo Deportivo, after he seemed to opt for experience rather than youth with the inclusion of striker Raul from the start against France.

'It is not to say he is a bad coach but the problem was he changed his model. The team started the campaign with a lineup that looked like the beginning of a new era,' it said.

'But by playing Raul, who is an excellent player with the ability to change a game as a substitute but not to lead the line, he broke the concept of change. It was a return to 'more of the same'.'

Sports daily Marca struck a more positive note by looking to the future.

'Don't cry' it said alongside the picture of a young fan in tears wearing a Spain shirt. 'We have a team and will return.

'This isn't the same as other times. We are coming home but we have a team, a style of play, fans, and a future....although we have to learn.'

couldnt agree more...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there would find me
Till then I'll walk alone

Quiero vivir, quiero gritar,
quiero sentir el universo sobre mí.
Quiero correr en libertad,
quiero llorar de felicidad.
Quiero vivir,

//

I want to live, I want to shout,
I want to feel the universe on me.
I want to run at liberty,
I want to cry of happiness.
I want to live,
I want to feel the universe on me
As a castaway in the sea.
I want to find my place,
Only find my place.

All the broken toys,
all the crazy lovers,
All the shoes of varnish.
All the little houses of wrists,
where it celebrated festivals,
Where only was I.
It returns the spirit forgot of the summer of the love.

This article is the most hilarious piece ever abt the 2 greatest young stars of present time!.. its 5 pages long so ill sieve out whats funny..

Cesc and Leo, whose friendship dates back to PlayStation sessions at the farmhouse, reached that moment when a budding career leaps into the deep end. They have gone beyond the compulsion to measure them by their youthfulness. They are that good already. That they proved it at the two richest clubs in Europe is particularly satisfying. These are players who cost their employers little more than the bills for scouting and development and the time they put into the pastoral care that has enabled them to blossom.
It was comical to see Real Madrid take one close look at Fabregas before hurrying to fuel a bandwagon with speculation that he is a transfer target for president Florentino Perez. The next night it was fun imagining how Roman Abramovich might have assessed Messi's worth. But prising either prodigy from his club would be a tall order. Fabregas is contracted to Arsenal until 2011 and acts as if he cannot believe his luck. Messi's present deal takes him up to 2014 and contains a buyout clause as staggeringly prohibitive as Ronaldinho's - more than £100m. The vultures may as well swoop off.
This is the fifth arrangement struck between Barcelona and Messi, so conscious are they of protecting their jewel. Five years ago, so the story goes, it was in the restaurant of a tennis club that Barcelona secured the signature of a tiny yet hugely beguiling Argentine boy on the back of a napkin. Charly Rexach, Barca's sporting director at the time, had sensed that the youngster's representative was having second thoughts. After all, Messi was only 13, and to uproot and cross the Atlantic was a life-changing decision. Rexach asked a waiter for something on which to scribble out a makeshift contract. As he recalls: 'I wrote something like, "As sporting director of the club, I guarantee that the club will assume all responsibility for the Messi family if they come to live in Barcelona and the kid joins the club." '
If Barcelona had shown half as much determination with one of his peers, they would have two of the most talented teenagers in world football. Fabregas is the one that got away.
Cesc and Leo complemented each other well. 'We won everything together in our age group and we used to love playing one-twos on the pitch. We had a great understanding,' recalls Fabregas. But local lads are sometimes overlooked compared to imports and while Barca attended to Messi, they took their time in offering Fabregas professional terms. Arsenal - who had admired the Catalan midfielder for some time - were ready with a big commitment. Their belief in his talent and the feeling that he would be promoted more quickly at Highbury, swung it.
Coming from a family of Nou Camp season-ticket holders, Fabregas did not find it easy to bid farewell to his friends at La Masia. But his bold choice was vindicated at the Bernabeu last week. In the grandest occasion of his career so far, the youngest player on the pitch conducted the game with the perception of an old master.

Protecting Messi has always been an issue. His Barcelona team-mates complained that he left Stamford Bridge covered in bruises. When he was at La Masia, his fellow players - including Manchester United's Gerard Pique, as well as Fabregas - used to pick up yellow cards for defending him from the treatment dished out by opponents.
When Messi arrived in Spain he was 4ft 6in, and the fact that his feet did not reach the ground when he sat on the bench has become the stuff of legend, earning him the nickname 'The Flea'. His size was the result of a hormone deficiency that was extremely expensive to treat in Argentina during the economic crisis. His boyhood club, Newell's Old Boys, would not pay for the daily injections, but Barcelona would.

At first, speaking only Argentine slang - and not much of that - Messi struggled to mix. He would sit silently in the dressing room, change and leave. 'He made a big impression on me, but he was very shy and that complicated his integration,' said Fabregas. 'We thought he was dumb. Until, being kids and thanks to PlayStation, we discovered he could talk.'

Fast-forward a few years and Messi is welcomed to the table of the Nou Camp's Brazilian clan, who banter that he is the only Argentine they will put up with. Ronaldinho calls him 'my little brother', Sylvinho looks after him like a second father and Deco takes him out shopping or to the hairdresser (perhaps as an elaborate joke, to judge from the boy's unruly mop).

After Messi's heroics for the under-20s, when he scored twice in the final, a poll concluded that almost 90 per cent of Argentines wanted him in the senior team as quickly as possible. His dynamic bursts and creativity bring something new to the party. Once back in Barcelona, somebody handed him a phone.
'They said that it was Diego Maradona on the other end,' Messi said. 'I thought they were joking with me, but I still took the phone and then someone at the other end said, "Hello, Leo, this is little Diego." I couldn't speak. I didn't know what to say. I was in shock. Him calling me? As I held the mobile I looked in the mirror on the wall and I could see that my eyes were full of tears, so it was hard to speak even when I regained my composure a little bit. What a fantastic moment.'
Maradona invited him on to his television show, La Noche del Diez, and gave him a Davina-esque introduction. 'Everybody who loves Argentine football should be proud of him. He will inherit my place in Argentine football and his name is MESSI!' He and another young gun, Carlos Tevez, then played head tennis against Maradona and fellow golden oldie Enzo Francescoli. And won.

A SHRINE TO CESC FABREGAS & FERNANDO TORRES!

i dont even care that hardly anyone credits fabregas for his superb passes and control of midfield. the way the game changed when he came on! He is my hero!
& Torres is awesome too! love their ball control.. loves the defence splitting passes.. ah its just a shame that fabregas didnt manage to score any despite his 2 great chances!

whywhywhy do i always jinx the teams i love..
as i watch the last few mins of the 1st half of the spanish match, i cant help but wonder if this is gonna end up like czech-ghana..god the bloody ball refuses to get past tt line!!!

did some west-bound shopping..
drove down to IKEA to get room stuff.. and then walked to queensway to take a look at any world cup memorabilia.. and guess what.. i FINALLY found an espana sling bag AND an espana JACKET.. mygosh ive been searching it forever! its the only shop i can find! starting to wonder if they are fake.. STILL.. please pleasepleaseplease.. can i have them for my bday? tried on the jacket..its mighty red.. with an ugly logo on the bottom left and a big espana on the right but i cant help but love it.. passed by the mat-infested shop like 4-5 times before deciding to head in.. teehee.. the salesguy was like.. ooh spain huh? torres yea? i replied hmm yea.. fabregas too :) oh yea tt 17-yr old guy.. i obviously had to enlighten him tt he is now 19! haha hope i didnt come off as too much of a wannabe.. the guy was like.. ooh its too big huh? bloody hell u cudnt even see my fingers with the super long sleeves.. so the guy said. u shud buy it for yr bf. heh.. if he existed, i wud have made him buy it for me already.. lol esp since the price is super steep.. even steeper than the brazil jacket rachel fell in love with.. boo..

happy tv!

tv is perpetually on these days to tune in to the World CUp.. enjoying my bedside view in sisters room very much :)
but i still love my project runway.. have i gushed how much i lurrrvvveee david vosovic! he rocks! hahha.. hey a girls a girl..

back to football..
all underachievers are not underachieving.. tts a miracle.. well except for france..
im pondering if a light ball is a good thing or not.. hmm at first i thot it didnt stay true to the game but now with so many beeyouutifoool goals scored, mebbe its a good thing for the beautiful game after all..

well yest was enjoyable! after Spanish class, headed to Chijmes to catch the 2nd half of the Argentina -Serb match with my sis.. we had front row seats!!! hahaha right.. well we did if u count tt in chijmes the screen was this projection thingy where u cud watch from behind the screen except left is right and right is left.. it doesnt matter so much when it comes to scoring goals or who passes to whom.. it just takes a while to figure out the names on the back of the jerseys haha.. so ya.. we sat on the steps but it was good 'front row' seats behind the screen :) we were supposed to leave at the 75th min to go for supper but messi came on so decided to stay the whole way! good choice!

anyway, then we deecided to travel back home and run all our little errands.. before we knew it, it was 12! so we ate dinner yes a very late one at the macs near our house and watched the next match! the whole place was dripping with dutch fans.. well i guess tts obvious but my sis n i were the only ones going 'go kolot! (our affectionate name for kolo toure) stupid nistelrooy! booooooo to the nistelrooy goal! and wooohooooo to the robben yellow card' if u havent noticed.. we support ivory coast mainly because of kolo toure.. he is the most lovable centre back on earth! n totally NOT a fan of nistelrooy (as all arsenal fans call him a cheat) and robben (saw his true colors in the epl.. such a shame when he's got all tt talent) and come on.. ivory coast is the runnersup for the confed cup! and they are in this to unite their country in conflict! well anyhow, lets hope they improve from here.. the team is still not developed enough to go thru to the next rd.. if not, give them credit that they kept goal-scoring argentina only at 2-1.. kudos..

now tt we've seen abt a week of games, heres my to watch out for list..
1) Argentina - I hope they win it all..
2) Czech - lots of potential! esp if baros n koller come back.. n exciting to watch..
3) Spain (expecting furthest they'll go is quarters or ok mebbe semis but I'll always have a soft spot for them :)
ooh.. best lineup with any permutation of an argentina, czech, spain n brasil semis with arg n brasil to go thru to the finals.. *drools*

fav bunch of youngsters to watch
1) Lionel Messi
2) Cesc Fabregas
3) Robin Van Persie
hopefully the award will go in tt order too :)

rosicky's THE man..

just watched the czech v US match
just what i was hoping for.. a good thrashing.. n even more sweeter cos its by the guy who wenger just bought.. i just found the team that im gonna support in the world cup.. the Czechs rock!

anyway met a good few number of people in town today.. i keep whizzing past them with a hiiii.. and then i kinda just walk off.. is tt too abrupt? its like we mean to say more because its polite to do so but i cant really be bothered to or theres nothing really to say.. well i did have sth to say with shiyan when i saw her walking with her bf.. he's pretty cute erhhh haha but of cos i cudnt have said anything right in front of her bf haha.. somehow Sg is so small, you think ay.. im bound to meet them again. it gives me the same feeling of being back in school.. whenever u pass yr pal ud just go hiii and be on your way.. ok fine next time i meet somebody outside ill make an effort to at least ask how they are doing.. and what they are doing..

and guess who else did i bump into?? that Hi-Lo milk ad/Marina square model.. with her other half.. olinda cho.. im surprised they're still tog.. well yea too bad chio girls must always go les... too bad for the guys in the world.. :P she did look abit dishevelled and short.. prob abt my height? reminded my sis n i of a pri skl fren we used to have.. who could stand out in a crowd so easily.. they do have some similar features come to think of it.. absolutely EVERYONE was staring at them anyway.. u cant go unnoticing either one of them lahh..

Dilemma

I've been going back and forth in finding an answer...

1) To slog it out for an A- for a difficult module called Corporate Reporting to remain in Acc
or
2) To pass 3 modules to take Econs

Option 2 sounds easier than option 1 of course but which would I rather do? and which has a larger probability that i will not fail!

so the arguments FOR Acc:
1) Its more diverse, I can go into any field I want because everyone needs an accountant
2) There are fewer modules to take
3) Basically consume less brain cells than econs
4) I kinda did enjoy FA.. but that could have been because Gan helped alot..
BUT
a) Getting an A- for Corp reporting is HIGHLY trickyy.. especially if this time there will be a bell curve.. since 40% of the level got at leaast A- for FA, im perpetually dead if its a bell
b) ill spend even less time than i would want on extracurricular activities to slog this out
c) If i dont get an A-.. thats it byebye to EVERYTHING!

arguments FOR econs
1) just realised i can go into Islamic Banking which is a hot topic for now except not THAT much demand yet in Sg and very limited financial products that Sg can offer
2) I can go international.. *dreams of working in Islamic Bank of Britain* well technically everyone in the whole world needs an accountant too..
3) the learning process will definitely be more beneficial and better my thought process and GK
4) I just need to pass 3 modules to confirm econs and scholarship.. and its impossible to fail! right?
BUT
a) other than islamic banking everything else to do with econs is *makes gagging noise*, well i guess theres always that business degree to rely on
b) theres gonna be ALOT of reading and brain cells consumption which can be a pain in the ass

really now.. im starting to wonder WHAT POSSESSED ME to choose biz as my first degree in the first place.. i feel like an utter moron.. and i just wanna pull myself out of this mess ive created and just go apply sth with hmm more credibility... for goodness sakes.. arent i supposed to be better at science?? sigh. Help.......... I don't know why I keep putting myself in these situations..

and for goodness sake, I NEEEEED SOME WORK to do.. im dying to like write an essay or sth..

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith." - Surah Al Baqarah Ayat 286

Sometimes, these things have a way of jumping out right in front of me.
When I had questions, be it scientific or morals or hope.. the answer would leap in front of me almost immediately. And its no different this time..

a change of perspective perhaps?
be inspired...

was indeed inspired by Zeinab Badawai when I saw her playing the devil's advocate in the BBC programme 'a sporting chance' she'd almost literally pounce on every uncertainty you had or any shaky assumption.. It made the debate nice and lively but the replies became rather defensive and completely one-sided. decided to give her a google and see what good she's done.. So stumbled upon a few interesting BBC articles.. one rather interesting piece with Dr Mahathir.. there was a moment where he mentioned 'i dont want to comment on other people's business' and the interviewer replied 'but you do! thats your trademark' haha.. and one forum where people discussed Turkey being the odd one out in Europe. So many people think turkey is such a role model for other countries.. but this was my favourite post.. the worst example part is an exaggeration but still.. i wouldnt consider Turkey to be a truly Muslim state..

'Turkey is one of the worst examples of a Muslim state. I knew a lot of Muslim Turks in college in the US and the only link they had with Islam was the fact that they were born Muslims. Apart from that I don't think they even know anything about the religion of their ancestors. As for the whole headscarves issue? I think its an utter disgrace for Turkey as well as the rest of the countries in the world that prohibit its use in School/Universities. What kind of freedom is this? There is no freedom anywhere in the world anymore. We live in a very shameful world today.' - Salman, U.A.E
