LG Watch Urbane – LG’s new Premium Android Wear smart watch

If smart watches are playthings to you, LG is trying to bring it up a notch with its all-metal Watch Urbane. Like the G Watch R, it gets a round 1.3″ P-OLED display that does 320×320 resolution. But instead of a sporty outlook, the Watch Urbane has a contemporary design which makes it practical for formal occasions. Compared to the Moto 360, it looks less bulky too.
Powering the device is a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 prcessor with 512MB RAM and there’s 4GB of on-board storage. You can take it anywhere without worries as it also gets IP67 water and dust resistance as standard. The Watch Urbane is available in either polished Silver or Gold and comes with a leather strap that’s replaceable with any compatible 22mm bands. Also built-in is a PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor which can track your heart rate and average pulse.
If you’re wondering what’s the price, LG says they will reveal it closer to each respective market launch. The watch will also make an appearance at the upcoming MWC 2015 and hopefully we’ll get a closer look.

Mipad RM799

UPDATE: The Mi Pad goes on sale on 10th February at 12PM.
The Mi Pad is coming to Malaysia, and it offers high-end specs at a remarkable price. Xiaomi Malaysia is currently having a giveaway on their Facebook page and some of its fans have already discovered its official product page. If you’re curious about the price, the Mi Pad carries a RM799 price tag and it comes only in white with 16GB storage capacity. The price isn’t too far off from its mainland China’s 1,299 CNY pricing which is about RM745.
To recap on the specs, the Mi Pad comes with an iPad mini 3 spec’ced 7.9″ 2048×1536 IPS display that pushes a pixel density of 326ppi and it is toughen with Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood it gets a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset with 192 CUDA cores GPU and is mated to 2GB of RAM.


If its built in 16GB storage isn’t enough, the Mi Pad comes with a microSD slot that support cards up to 128GB. It also gets a 8MP BSI main camera, 5MP front shooter and a 6,700mAh Lithium Ion Polymer Battery. Connectivity wise, it gets WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.0. Overall the Mi Pad is 8.5mm thin and weighs 360g, which is bulkier than Apple’s iPad mini.

At RM799, you could also get the first gen iPad mini which runs on a lower 1024×768 pixels resolution display and a dated processor from the iPad 2. Arguably, the iPad could be better as a tablet with its larger library of tablet optimised apps. If better hardware is what you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with the Mi Pad.

HTC offering festive promos just in time for CNY

HTC is offering Chinese New Year promos via their Facebook page for a large range of their products for the coming festive season. Granted it’s no Cyber Monday, but this is a chance for you to hook some additional loot like SD cards and HTC Dot View cases with your purchase, should you hbe already planning on snagging yourself one of their devices.
Of the products eligible for free gifts are the HTC Desire EYE, HTC Butterfly 2 and the new Nexus 9 tablet to name a few.

Oppo R5

Oppo Malaysia has made official what we already know earlier, the limited edition Gilded Oppo R5 will go on sale in Malaysia on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2015, and will sell for RM1,798 with only 2,800 units available in the country.
In addition to the device, Oppo is also provides a 1-year Screen Damage Insurance worth RM128 free with the Gilded R5. The insurance offers a one-time replacement for free in the event that the screen on your Gilded R5 is damaged or defected in any way.
In terms of specs, the Gilded R5 is essentially the same as the standard (non-Gilded?) Oppo R5 but with the distinct gold coloured metal frame that wraps the device (the standard R5 gets a plain old silver coloured metal frame). The OPPO R5 is one of thinnest smartphones in the world with a thickness of just 4.85mm. In fact, the R5 is the third thinnest smartphone in the world, with only the Vivo X5 Max (4.75mm) and the Ivvi K1 Mini (4.70mm) being thinner.
The R5 features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display 423ppi), an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The device packs a 13MP Sony BSI main camera and 5MP front camera. In the power department, you get a 2,000mAh that benefits from Oppo’s VOOC rapid charging technology, allowing you to charge the battery from sero to 75% capacity in just 30 minutes.
