We sat at Marine stadium tonight and listened to the first of the summer concerts by the Long Beach Municipal band. A nice way to end a hot summer day.

We often spend the afternoon reading at the bay. It is always beautiful with the water glittering like scattered diamonds floating on the surface.
Mike made a great pizza with mushrooms, black olives and onions. Another hot afternoon especially with the oven on. Sitting outside now. Cool breeze. Perfect.
Bend, Oregon has a lot of breweries and we found consistently really good food. At one place my sister in law Mary ordered General Tsao’s fried cauliflower appetizer off the menu. She said they have had great success making this at home in the air fryer. Yesterday at Trader Joe’s I happened to see a bottle of General Tsao’s sauce. So I bought it with some cauliflower. I air fried the cut up cauliflower for 15 minutes. Meanwhile I sautéed a sliced onion then added the sauce and the fried cauliflower. It was really good. We ate it with steamed rice. I looked up the recipe for the sauce and it looks easy to make so I’ll make my own next time but this T.J. Brand is tasty and would be good to have on hand.
I had a lovely day out with my friend visiting from Minnesota, Ruth. We both were in the graduate school of Design (fiber arts) at UCLA. Ruth did her undergrad studies at Scripps College. It was fun to reminisce and to catch up. I enjoyed meeting Ruth’s brother in law Jonathan. Lunch overlooking the blue Pacific at the ever enjoyable Long Beach museum’s “Claire’s” restaurant.

Monday June 20 our last morning hike at the DeSchutes River walk. A beautiful walk to end our stay in Bend Oregon. What a great reunion for the Cabot brother/family.
Sunday Father’s Day Mike was up hours before anyone and sending me the first photos of his hike. We had a nice breakfast of eggs and lox and bagels. A long day of hiking beginning with the most surprising “Lava flow “ landscape. Then a bus ride to the top of the volcanic rim for a vast view. After that a drive to Obsidian flow trail with fields of obsidian. There were patches of snow on the ground. A late afternoon meal to celebrate the three Cabot dads at The Sun River brewery. Now home to finish the puzzle!
