One of the projects I was involved for work has finally ended, with a successful media conference marking the end of our hardship. My role for the project was a minor one compared to others, but nevertheless, seeing your name on the book was a great feeling (even if the font is small). Haha!

I'm No. 13!

To celebrate, I went out for dinner with No.12 last Friday after work (well, actually we just want to eat lah, lol). Wanted to try Miss Clarity Cafe (at Purvis Street) initially since it was located just across the street from our workplace. But, the queue was horrible & so I suggested another place nearby because we are going to faint due to hunger anytime soon.

With it, we dined at Yat Con, or famously known as Yi Qun. Apparently, most old folks know about this place as my parents went into a state of envy when I told them I ate there & they decided to go there as well the next day before watching 881, lol.

Yat Con is a Hainanese eating place with a long history & you will feel as if you were transported back to the 60s. No fear of hot weather as the place is air-conditioned. Many people frequent the place & it will always be packed during lunch & dinner time.

They are famous for their Chicken Rice & after eating it, I know why it is so well-known to all. It's really very nice! The tender chicken literally melts in your mouth, the rice is superb & the soup taste great, not too salty but doesn't miss the taste as well. It's so nice that I ate 2 bowls of rice which is very rare lah. Best still, it cost only $10 for the two of us, cheap cheap.
-
They have zhu chao & steamboat as well, which, I tried the latter the next day with another group of friends because again, Miss Clarity Cafe was freaking packed. After eating the not-so-great-steamboat, I think it's better to stick with eating chicken rice there. Oh, their Teh Bing is nice too.

Forrest is a Chinese restaurant located at a freaking ulu location (Orchardville off Mandai Road). It has a farm-restaurant kind of concept where you can buy flowers or plants at the same place as well. Nevertheless, the ambience is great with little crowd, even on the weekends.

Went there with my cute maternal family & we sat at their biggest table available...can house all 16 of us! But it gets quite difficult to get the food cos it's like so far away lah.

Here's some of the food we ordered, too many dishes already, so took some only.

Sad to say, the food doesn't taste good at all, even the drinks suck. The only nice dish is their signature dish, the Pork Knuckles. The price is too expensive as well...but, the service is not oo bad lah, the way they pronounce their English tickles us all so much. Poster beer! Caryfish! Happy Marther Day! LOL. Ok we are one mean family.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is Thai Express at the Vivocity's outlet.

E had the recommended dish by me - Phat Thay Seafood. It's really nice! But beware the version at Esplanade outlet, it doesn't meet the normal standard of Thai Express cos it's tooooooo salty.

I had the Shrimp Paste Seafood Fried Rice. I threw all the seafood to E. Uncle kept telling me their fried rice is very nice, so I tried. Like kana cheated by him sia, very nice meh. Chey~

However, their Prawn Toast never fail to satisfy :)

Wah lau, just realised the food pics I took on Botak Jones was stuck in my handphone for the longest time as I'm transferring today's pics to my laptop. So here's the review on Botak Jones (Blk 325, Clementi Avenue 5) which I ate 2, 3 weeks ago...

I heard so much about this hawker stall that claim to sell the authentic American food, so, I grabbed hold of the chance to give it a try as some friends & myself went to another friend's house which is quite near to their outlet at Clementi.

This is their Cheese Fries ($7.50). By the way, the meal was a very rushing one as we didn't expect to wait 20min for our food, somemore we da pao to friend's house. Thus, all the food pics will be very blur, pai seh ar. Anyway, I didn't get to taste the cheese fries because the whole meal event was rushing & messy. Friends who ate it said it's very nice.

Cajun chicken ($7.20, wah seh it's cheaper than the cheese fries). I know you see 95% fries & only 5% of the main lead itself. In a rush ma, lol. I still remember how it tasted though, well, the chicken is dry even with the melted cheese on it. The fries is very, very good though. Everyone love their fries.

Erm ok...I know this pic sucks too. Can only see the fries & top portion of the burger (which, by the way, looks the same for all burgers in the world) right. Go to http://www.botakjones.com/ to look at nicer pics. This is their Botak Burger ($6.50 + $2 for shitake mushroom), friend who ate this said the beef is too thick, making it difficult to bite as it gets tough. Not very nice, but again, the fries is nice! I think next time just buy their fries can le.

Ok I'm supposed to show this pic -- my dinner cooked by my aunt the following day after eating Botak Jones. It taste so, so, so much nicer than that Botak lah, home cooked food is the best! I love my mum & aunt who never fail to satisfy my tastebuds, even top notch restaurants can't be compared to them. Somemore the egg is in a heart-shape loh, very xi xin, lol.

I'm back at Marche again :) Well...it's conviniently located just beside my gym, and I'm too tired to walk around after workout.

The place is much crowded at night, E & I have to wait for awhile before a server lead us to our seats. Coincidently, I got the same seats which I sat at last week. Don't believe? Compare the picture below with that from the previous post. One in the day, one in the night, haha.

This time around, I tried their grilled chicken breast & crepe. Not forgetting, the usual suspect, rosti :)

Everything taste great except for the grilled chicken breast, it's a tad too tough and somewhat tasteless.

I guess everyone agrees with me that Bundabeer is the best root beer in the world. Cheers~

Decided to lunch over at the sole survived Marche in Singapore, which was located at the open level of Vivocity. Wasn't really interested in eating there again initially as I had my fair try back at their now closed outlets at The Heeren & Suntec City.

But, I heard that this time around, it was the Swiss management that runs the restaurant instead & thus, fresher & better food quality was promised. What's more, Vivocity never fails to provide nice view - be it the sea or sky...I love glass windows that runs from the top to bottom! So, Marche that's it for my brunch with Thom on a hot Saturaday afternoon.

The place is freaking small as compared to their previous outlets, but alas, the ambience is great & seats seem to be abundant despite being small. It's was as if you were transported to some olden small Swiss village can, even the friendly cashier was wearing some sort of traditional Swiss clothes. Almost asked her to squeezed some fresh cow milk for me, lol.

They still have the cute mini stand which you can use to chop your seats while wandering around, deciding what you should order. They changed the item of payment though, it used to be a damn big card that flies off easily, now, a card was used instead. This is better lah, machiam using a credit card like that.

Now for the food...

Yaya, I know what you all want to say. Your are going to ask "How come all potato dishes one..." right. Well, cos we are potato people ma, somemore Marche is famous for their$ Rosti, so how could we miss it since it is the Swiss management that is doing the QC (Quality Control) now. Eh...we even ordered another plate of Rosti loh, potato enough not?

The food really seem to taste better than their previous outlets, but I'm starting to doubt myself whether is it because that it is now the real Swiss that's managing Marche. Aiya don't know lah, just go there & give it a try. Cheap cheap, no service charge! Only GST. Rosti cost $4.50+ while the sausage cost $4.20. Will try the other food available there the next time.

Hello people, here is one long overdue food review...

Went uphill to the current hippest hangout - Dempsey Hill a few weeks ago & tried out one of the many restaurants available there, called CA*, which was actually occupy the same premise with the famous Ben & Jerry's.

As you can see, the ambience there is superb with a homely touch to it. They don't do reservation, so it's advisable for you to chop a nice place by 7pm, else the horrible crowd will start coming in. A bit yaya lah, but well~

The ambience & service there is good, but talking about the food...it's quite bad lah.

The 3 main courses (and it's their only available main courses) we tried wasn't worth the price we paid for at all. Either the meat was too dry & chewy that you feel like you are eating rubber, or that the veggie tasted like nothing. Doesn't the chicken (2nd food pic) look like a piece of charcoal? We paid a grand total of $90 including GST & service charge for this 3 main courses. Heng heng it was shared among the six of us.

Ben & Jerry's never fail to satisfy :) Ya you saw it, the 2 big candles that was poked into the ice-cream meant that we are celebrating a friend's birthday & that she's 20 this year.

Apparently, we got so disappointed with the food that we decided to go for another round of makan. This time round, it's the more reliable (and much cheaper) Cheese Prata Shop, the famous shop which locates itself just next to NUS.

Even the drinks are so, so nice.
