Nic's photo-sharing project. Background: Nic asks us to find beauty where we find it. This week: Backgrounds. Really, Nic? Backgrounds? Seriously? Most of the time, I focus laser-like on the foreground, on the action, right here, myoptically, right where I can see it. The background should stay back, way back, polite and neutral, thank you very much. Dude, I slid through hundreds (thousands?) of images on my flickr stream and only came up with a handful that I feel I can turn in for this assignment, where the background played a major part in the image. Nic, you've given me something to think about. Again. Darn you.









Nics Photoprojekt. Hintergrund: Nic bittet uns Beauty dort zu finden, wo wir sie finden. Diese Woche: Hintergrunde. Ja, wirklich, Nic? Hintergründe? Echt? Die meiste Zeit fokusiere ich mich wie ein Laser auf den Vordergrund, die Handlung vor Auge, genau hier, myoptisch, wo ich's sehe. Der Hintergrund möchte bitte schön ganz schön und brav dort hinten bleiben, neutral und höfflich den Vordergrund unterstützen, nicht wahr? Doch nicht wahr (sehe die vielen Beispielen der Mitspieler). Mensch, stoberte ich über hunderte von Bildern in meinem flickr-Stream und ich begegnete lediglich einen Handvoll, die in etwa die dieswöchige Hausaufgaben erfülle. Nic, hast mir 'was zum nachdenken gegeben. Wieder. Mist.

Happy Valentine's Day!

My girl is such a loser.

And I am so proud of her.



Talent Show. ('Nuff said?). My girl and three friends belted out the Glee anthem (from the Regionals episode):

And the girls' performance was...

I made these backpack danglers for the girls as a little momento. Juiced up with some Farbenmix ribbon, wings, some bling and a Japanese eraser to represent the slushee.

If I have to explain the significance of the "L"-finger or the slushee, leave a message and I will see that a rescue team comes and extracts you from the rock under which you have been trapped for two years. And if you are hatin' on Glee, well, then, we can't be friends anymore.

"I am nuts and bolts for you, Valentine!"

These are simple Valentines for Anna's classmates. This is a project you can do together with your little one. I mean, who doesn't like robots?

 I went ahead and had a rubber stamp made from my line drawing of a robot (I used Simon's Stamps and they were really fast). Anna ink stamped some card stock tags and added a bit of robot candy. Everything is held together with a nut and bolt (get it? "I'm nuts and bolts for you"...? 'Cause they're robots? Right...?).

Here's everything we used. Anything you can find with a cardboard back that hangs in a store display from those sticking out wire pokey thingies ("peg hooks"--thank you, Google) would make a good Valentine goodie. The hole reinforcements are a good idea if you are punching holes into whatever you are adding to the card, like these robot candy packs we found on Oriental Trading. For Anna's teacher, we used a longer bolt and slid on a stack of supplies she regularly asks for.
