Got myself pretty beat up yesterday. Hit the gym first thing in the morning with the guys. We went to eat Macs breakfast after that. Seems like things are going well for Pat and his friend. Hopefully they will be getting together soon? I have a bet going on with Gab that they will be together by Valentine's. Anyway in the evening I donned on my gi and joined the judo training for the first time. My left fingers were left bruised from hitting all the mats, and the skin on my right fingers have been chafed so badly that the skin has broken. "It's normal," they tell me. Well, looks like I will have to be using those sticky bandage wraps to protect it for now. It hurts when in contact with water.
Got back into knitting. Finally got the grasp of the basics of knit and pearl. I can do patterns now. I am going to try for a checkered one. Brenda insists that I record down my steps on a paper so I will not lose count. So instead of reading up on my semi-conductor physics, I have been spending my time on all these other activities.
Went for the JC open house today. Met some familiar faces, and even some people from my batch. I ought to see familiar faces, anyhow, since I did relief teach PE for a few months just last year. Lots of the students did not recognize me, though. No surprise there. My hair has grown out. Still wondering when I should cut it. And if I should dye my hair first.
Since the Yong Tau Foo stall was now run by a fresh new face, I decided to revert to the staple diet of my JC days. Bak chor mee.
I left school soon after because I had work in the afternoon. Headed down to east coast then. Vish asked whether I was interested in giving private classes for students. I wonder if my pay for that will still be the same though. I wonder if I can commit as well. My boss preempted me that he may need me on Saturday afternoons as well. Looks like there goes my intention of volunteering for the d'Klub programme. Maybe I could still try for the other programme, but I have reservations about that. I will have to drop them an email soon to check it out.
After work I got back home for dinner and then cycled over to my cousin's house to tutor her on Lowest Common Multiples and Highest Common Factors. My schedule looks so packed, it's crazy. Still, I made time to do my pullups and handstand. Not enough.
Gymnastics tomorrow and windsurfing on Sunday (weather permitting). When did my life become so fascinating?

Went to school today to learn some basics of Judo from Wesley. He passed me his spare gi at the same time. After practicing, we went to pool for a swim. The facilities there are actually pretty good. Wonder if I will actually have the time to use them all. Anyway, when he was teaching the hip throw, the nerve at my pelvis area felt pulled and pinched. It still feels sore now. I guess I will have to watch out for that in the future. Not the first time I had this feeling. The other time was when I was on the bars.
Anyway the seams of my school bag strap is tearing off. I am considering bringing the bag to a repair man to sew it back together. But if it costs too much, I might either get a new bag or use my lovely duffel sling bag that I got from army. I dug out my LBV and helmet and other random things that I stuffed into it on my ORD. That means that the bag was sitting in the storeroom for more than a year till I emptied it today.
The philosophical part of my is tired. So very tired of analyzing. There is no point, really. All we need to do is to enjoy life, enjoy life as it is.
My favourite song on replay at the moment is
Hard To Say I'm Sorry by
Chicago. Beautiful song. Hopefully learn it on the piano during the next semester break.

2012 has come and gone, and we have now entered the new year. Last Saturday, I went to Kluang, Malaysia intending to trek up Gunung Chemendong. When we reached the trail head, we were waylaid by the rangers there. Bureaucracy at its finest. We required a guide, and we needed to apply for a permit to climb. Plus we were supposed to book the guide one day in advance. Anyway, we headed back towards the city area to Gunung Lambak.
Gunung Lambak brings back memories of my secondary school days when I had to climb it while participating in ACE camp, and subsequently when I facilitated it in the following year. It felt good to be back to climb it once more. The weather treated us kindly and we had clear skies all day. I will to be back to climb again.
After climbing, we headed back to Taman Sri Tebrau, JB for a scrumptious seafood dinner for only RM203. This was split between the 5 of us, along with all the other expenses for that day. Good times with my fellow KI friends. Had the opportunity to know Deborah better as well. And made a new friend, Jerome.
Stayed over the night before at Stanley's house. we were meeting at Kranji MRT at 0630h, and Yishun was obviously more convenient than home. After sharing some freshly cut durians, his dad decided to do a live demonstration of qi gong for me. I humbly admit that it was impressive, the way he was so immovable and unstoppable. He gave me some exercises to practice on my own. I try it sometimes, but sadly, I do not know if I am doing it right. I will have to consult him again some time.
The decision to stay over at Stanley's house was reached spontaneously during my grandmother's birthday dinner celebration. I thought, why not, since Stanley was there. Turned out he was cool with it. Parents were okay with me going over as well. Photo taking during dinner was probably the most interesting part. Wonder when all the photos are going to go up onto Facebook.
And on Sunday, I drove down to Water Venture at East Coast for my wind surfing course. Met a Josephian from my year, Benjamin. Interestingly enough, he was a gymnast during our time in SJI. For me, the course was just cursory, since I already knew how to windsurf. I was just there to get my card and go. Renting at WV is much cheaper than elsewhere. Hopefully, I will get to windsurf again this Sunday. This time with a smaller board and bigger sail. The ones I used yesterday limited my speed to a crawling pace.
Today I ended up in school having an interview for a position I have no enthusiasm for. However, if I absolutely had to make a choice in the committee, being in the programme team might be more fulfilling than say, a librarian post. After an early dinner with Kevin, we headed back up to the SPS room for our project discussion with the team and mentors. Found out that we probably have to read two papers each week for the 2 hour IF sessions. Seems like the workload for next semester is going to be pretty heavy. With all my academics, trainings, tutoring and part-time work, I am not too confident about volunteering for the kids at Care Comm. Next semester, perhaps?
Went to YIH for a second round of dinner with the rest. Biggest surprise today was that I saw Eugene after so long. I cannot even remember the last time I saw him. Could possibly be during NS, at my camp. We did not have much to talk about, though, but we did walk together to the SRC where he went off to see a handball match and I went to find Wesley for a bit. Another surprise! I saw Jenny and Sin Gen training the Alpha Verve team! I went over to saw hello and watch them for a bit.
In the end, I took a bus back home and cycled off almost immediately to teach my cousin how to do roots, factorizing and prime numbers. Went over to Bosco's house later to walk the dog for the second consecutive night. Maybe I will go again tomorrow. Got home and did some pull ups to keep fit.
Haha, this style of posting is really old school. It was like this back in my lower secondary school days. Times have changed. Times have really changed.
To a good year ahead.
Aye aye.
