What is faith?

Belief without evidence and proof.

In other words, if seeing is believing, then believing without seeing is faith. To believe in another with the knowledge of the possible betrayal, that is faith. To believe in the highest ideals of humanity despite being surrounded by the utter inhumanity of the world, that is faith. To believe in life after death, even when that is impossible to confirm, that is faith.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

The tree that fell, no one ever knows about it, what happened before it fell or why it fell. No one ever hears the rustling of the leaves or the echoeing thud resounding through the vegetation.

Now imagine a jungle trekker walking through the thick forest, and chances upon this felled tree. The tree must have gone through germination, sprouting, growth, maturing, before finally succumbing to its own weight. One cannot deny that.

Now ask, if a cosmos was formed in a single Big Bang and no one is around to hear it(obviously), does it make a sound?

The universe that was created, no one knows about it, what happened before the event or who caused the creation. No one ever witnessed the expansion of the galaxies and the formation of the stars.

Now imagine a human being thinking about everything around him. The Earth, the solar system, the galaxy, the universe. Surely all these could not begin by some pure stroke of luck. Certainly the Big Bang was triggered by something greater than the universe itself. He refuses to be satisfied if he was told that the Big Bang happened on its own accord.

Imagine I was that person.

I have faith that there is God, the Creator, out there.

Thank you for the party-cum-stay over!
You know, I think I should have swam more. I got a headache now, though.
I am growing so fat now!
FAT FAT FAT!

Just watched Nanking today.

The movie is actually a documentary on the invasion of Nanking by the Japanese.

Sigh, I guess I am too blessed and lucky.

My memory is terrible!

I can hardly connect with what happened this morning. I know we played soccer, but the scene feels all so distant already. In the late afternoon met up with the old pals from Scorpio Four. Hardly remembered any of them. My gosh. We talked rubbish and laughed and ate dinner with a budget and walked, a lot.

Anyway, I have been out the whole day, my legs are tired.

I wonder when you will find my spectacles and return them to me!

I received this email some time back. I think the message behind it is very true. I mean, we all only have one life. So try not to miss all the precious little details that make our life more colourful. Especially now, during the holidays. A great time to slow down.

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids
on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his
sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
to call and say "Hi"?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift...
Thrown away...

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

People come and people go.

I come and I go, too.
To me, it matters not whether I am remembered or forgotten. To me, things are easily forgotten. To me, a day could go by without me missing anybody.

You know, I guess I take a nonchalant view on the cosmos. If the sun was hanging in the azure sky, it would be there. If a giant cliff was pegged on the edge of the ocean, then so be it. If a tree was swaying in the wind, I would not deny that.

If my friend was next to me, laughing, crying, smiling or sighing, there my friend would be, right next to me.
If you were gone, that will be all to it, is it not?

I wonder, if you ever watched One Litre of Tears.

Right now, I feel so much like the male lead. If a person dies, a person dies. There is no more to that. Why cry over spilled milk, they always say.

Maybe I am just missing the few essential emotions.
Maybe I am just denying the existence of those feelings.

They died for all free men.

How then, to spend their gift of freedom to us?

Every drill is a forced action.

I will have to force myself, to ever get anything done.

That is the way the world works!

Well today after booking out we took a cab down to school to catch the heritage play. Very sadly, we did not feel very much welcome there the older members.

Anyway, the play was great, and good job Ian, Hansel and the rest who put up the performance!

I'm loving angels instead.

The previous time I fell and lacerated my knee was a pretty long time ago.

Well, yesterday night I just managed to update that status. At camp, when I went out of the toilet, I slipped and hurt my knee. Just grazed my knee. The scab will heal in a week or so.

Reminds me of the movie Batman Begins, where the butler Alfred asks, why do we fall? So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up.

Anyway, nothing much is running through my mind now. A sign of exhuastion, or laziness.

You know, I think I have a great sense of balance.
