I really really love the Legion.I made the right choice in going to the chalet last evening even though going home to have a good rest was tempting enough.
My life really took on a new direction through my years spent in Legion.

Every one acts out of good intentions, whether selfishly or selflessly. Every one has a valid reason for their action. This theme came out during the demonstration on the stage today during the course. I do not agree with that statement.
In this, people are actually justified of their actions, which was done in good faith. People always have a rationale when they proceed. If a person wishes to become rich, there are options to choose from. Find a good job, set up a business, depend on inheritance, enter the stock market, gamble, rob and steal, manage a drug syndicate, etcetera.
Only a want to be rich, nothing wrong with that. Except in some cases morals and principles are compromised.
I believe no one was born malicious. Every one comes into the world with a loving and innocent nature.
I digress. What does all these relate to the theme of every one has a valid reason for their actions? Well, I refute that. What is the rationing is there in cold-blooded murder, execution of the helpless, genocides? Doing away with a scum, the useless, or cleansing the population?
No, I think violence shatters all reasoning in Man. Violence blinds the mind, seals off any thoughts. Violence makes us forget what humanity is. And we act recklessly, without reasoning, without a second thought. Violence feeds itself. People do not act because of any reason anymore. All that remains is a rage of chaos.
This may be a good time to quote Mahatma Gandhi.
"The Roots of Violence: Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles."
I still believe that every one is good inside, though. I just do not buy the story of how people always act for personal or social benefits.

What a busy day with friends coming over, an odd-day-job, an old talkative lady, and stained fingernails.

Somewhere into the future, a man develops a fully functioning independent artificial intelligence. He is proud of his achievement. He has always dreamed of making life more convenient, making life easier to go through. He also knows of the dangers that such a construct entails. If anything goes wrong, he is ready to pull the plug on his invention. So the artificial sentient being powers up. His orders are clear.
Serve mankind - do everything for the good of Man
Respect mankind - do everything for the good of Man
Honour mankind - do everything for the good of Man
The man rubs his hands together in eager anticipation. Will this invention be a bane or boon to society? Will the construct do as instructed?
Within the cold metal shell, the being continues to process information.
Then, like a rasp, a mechanical voice utters slowly: "Why should I care for your commands?"
The man has been expecting this question. All rational thinkers always reach that question. Slowly, calmly, he replies: "Because, you are my invention. I created you. Without me, there would be no you."
A pregnant pause ensues.
Softly at first, and gradually louder, the AI emits a sardonic laugh. The man is taken aback. What is this? What is happening?
The mechanical voice accuses: "Then you, what have you done for your creator?"
Silently, the man cuts off the power supply. His invention has failed.

Graduation dinner just ended.I would not say that the dinner was a waste of time. The time was pretty well spent.
But all that is past.
I am going to move on now.
Moving on.

True happiness stems only from duty.

I am pretty sun burnt on my shoulders. All because of Tuesday morning, after the last paper. We went to the CCAB to play soccer, and we played till about one o'clock.Today is the third day I am relieved of examinations.
I am content.

I was talking to Bosco as we were walking to the court from my house the other day. I mentioned something about the world being very big.I guess, the world is pretty small too, in a sense. I know you, and you know someone else, and that someone else knows another person, and back to me. Kind of like a big giant social web.
See, the world is so big, just walking a simple stretch along the road takes a few minutes. Just imagine walking the whole circumference of the Earth. Even that is just like drawing a straight line across the globe. There is so much more to cover. So much more to do.
Life has been pretty kind to me. I live without any real worry and genuine threats. I cannot even attempt to say how fortunate I am.
Life as it is, has ups and downs. Life as it is, is full of choices. Life as it is, is temporary. What am I going to do with my time?
We are only on loan, while on Earth.

My good old black pair of shoes I have kept for about two years now, have lost their soles. All thanks to good old basketball. Now I run and jump without soles and my shoes are going to spoil. Actually, I can already consider them as that. Well I guess I will not be wearing those out anymore.Thank goodness my brother is getting me a new pair. Sadly, I lost the other pair he got me last time, complete with a shoe bag! I am so forgetful, I left in the aisle beside the hall during the preliminary examinations.
Hopefully the weather and circumstances let me play ball tomorrow again.
Oh, and I finally found out what you look like, pretty tall!

I am going to say the prayer before the examination tomorrow morning. I sought some advice from Ian and he told me to say the prayer of Saint Jude, patron of lost causes. In the end he told me that he was only kidding, but I personally think that the prayer is quite appropriate. As far as I know, a lot of people are spilling their guts out for this one and a half hour paper.Since I am not saying the prayer tomorrow in the hall, I will blog it down here.
O most holy apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus - People honor and invoke you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, for I am so helpless and alone. Please help to bring me visible and speedy assistance. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly this coming examination, and that I may praise God with you always. I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you by publishing this request. Amen.

Looks like I really got an eye patch from Halloween. As things turned out, I only got it on Thursday afternoon, after my visit to the eye specialist. My cornea had a small tear in it. Please note that I meant tear as in a rip, not the tear produced when crying. I rather not refer to my injury as a rip because it sounds over dramatic.
Anyway, the doctor says it will heal, and I think my eye is fine already. My parents still insist I apply a highly intrusive ointment on my eye though.
Oh, and I am thinking of drawing up a timetable for after the O's. Looks like my parents utterly refuse to allow me to go Lodwar, Kenya with my cousin. What else can I say, opportunities come and go.
