Wow, it has been a really long time since I updated you all, but there really hasn't been anything happening in Nepal. Due to a new government, there had not been a Minister appointed for the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs. Until today!! See below from - http://www.kantipuronline.com/
KATHMANDU , Sept 2 - The cabinet has been expanded for the sixth time on Wednesday with the induction of representatives from the Madhes-based parties. Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal inducted two ministers, one assistant minister and six ministers of state.
PM Nepal swears in new ministers. He administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarbadev Ojha of the Madhesi Janadikar Forum- Loktantrik (MJF-L) and Laxman Lal Karna of the Sadbhawana Party
Ojha has been sworn-in as the Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, while Karna the Minister without portfolio
Ojha took the oath in Nepali language and Karna in Hindi, amidst a ceremony at the President’s Office in the presence of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
This is great news. Also, the first three families that were matched in May have received final approval for travel. So, they are leaving real soon to pick up their children! I know it will still be a long wait, but at least things seem to be moving forward...finally.

Now, the wait really begins!
I am happy to announce, according to our facilitator, that our guarantee letter was picked up, and our dossier should be at the ministry now! We will not receive any more updates until we receive our referral. Tick Tock Tick Tock...

Still no word...

I guess we are still waiting on our guarantee letter. I'm not really sure how long this is suppose to take, but at least I know our dossier made it to our facilitator in Nepal. I thought the waiting would be easier when it was out of my control, but I'm beginning to wonder...haha.
In the meantime, I have joined a message board with others from all over the world also adopting from Nepal. Most of the time, it's a good thing. However, there is such a thing as too much information. It does appear that things are starting to move over there, though. I just hope things keep going.
So, I have officially made my first purchase for my OWN child. There was book fair at work yesterday, and as I was leaving, I saw the children's section. I couldn't resist and ended up buying two books for her. As I was paying, I actually teared up and realized this is the first thing I have bought for a kid and it not be for a gift. Maybe, it's really starting to sink in! I'm sure I am going to have resist lots of urges to buy stuff until we get closer. But, it sure did feel good!

Dossier is on it's way!!
Actually according to the DHL tracking number, it's in Anchorage, AK right now! So, it should be in Kathmandu in the next few days! I can't believe our dossier was perfect and nothing needed changing or re-doing, but our agency said it was. Once our facilitator in Kathmandu obtains a letter from the U.S. Embassy and attaches it to our dossier, it can be taken to the Ministry. This should be early next week. After that, we will not hear any news or updates until our referral. Which doesn't surprise me too much. I was told today by our agency rep that Nepal has said it will be a 6-8 month process. But, we aren't sure if they mean 6-8 months til referral or til travel, hopefully the latter. That would have us hopefully traveling some time between December-March! I can't wait!!!!!

Dossier is DONE!!
Hallelujah!! We have finally completed our dossier! We overnighted it to our agency in Colorado today, and it should arrive tomorrow morning. From there, they will double check everything and then send it to Nepal. According to our agency representative, it should be sent out either Thursday or Friday of this week. So, I am hoping it will be in Kathmandu by early next week. It's starting to feel more real!
A funny side story- Last night Matt and I were in Walgreens waiting for our 11(yes, 11) passport photos, and the Bob Seger song,"Kathmandu," came on overhead. We both just started started singing and smiling. Hopefully, it won't be long before we really will "...be going to K-k-k-k-k-k kathmandu!"
More to come real soon! I hope.
