First Visit to Santa

We didin't know what to expect with Leyna sitting on Santa's lap. She has started recognizing what a "stranger" is. She'll smile for strangers until they try taking her from mommy or daddy. We were very surprised when Juan put her on Santa's lap she didin't even care. She was just smiling at us and looking up at Santa. I was just waiting for her to pull his beard, but she never did. Santa was nice and gave her a candy cane which made Leyna very happy. We let her play with it not thinking she would be able to get to the candy through the wrapper, but boy were we wrong! When she wouldn't take the wrapper out of her mouth for nothing we kinda figured she was getting a little more than the wrapper, and sure enough she was.

Daddy taking Leyna to Santa
See that cute smile
I'm so bummed this picture with her looking at Santa turned out blurry... =(

If you look close you can see all the red drool in the candy
She's reaching for the candy cane. I took it away to try and get her to look at the camera.

Leyna 7 months old

On Dec. 22, 2008 Leyna turned 7 months old. In the last month Leyna has been learning a lot. She has discovered that she can climb up things. This was pretty funny, but also scary, seeing her try to climb on everything. She still isn't crawling though. She gets up on all fours and rocks then just plops right back down and does the army crawl. She has tried crawling a couple times on her own but won't keep doing it. I thought babies usually crawl before they start climbing on things. She seems to have that backwards. =) She is also learning some sign language. She knows how to say more and we are working on learning how to do please and nurse/milk. We will start others as time goes on. She has started getting very opinionated and vocal. She use to be so mellow and calm, but has shown us a different side now. This is not a bad thing though. It shows that she is learning and getting a mind of her own. She loved trying to "figure things out". She is always getting into something and making messes too. She is just learning so much each day and we are enjoying watching all the new thing she is learning and doing.

As soon as we got home from Utah we put up our Christmas tree. Leyna loved it! Especially the beads. I couldn't keep them on the tree for more than a few minutes. It was fun watching her play with them though.
Here she is with her new favorite toy that Mamma let her have when we left Utah. Thanks mom, she loves it!

With Grandma eating a teething biscuit for the first time. She really liked it!

Trying to figure out how to get up...
Climbing on her BumboShe looked like she was trying get in it.
I thought she was gonna end up doing a head stand in it...
Trying to figure out how this box works. I think she eventually ended up biting a piece off. She loves paper or boxes. I have a difficult keeping them away from her. She will find them anywhere.

Here she is doing "more" in sign language. I was feeding her cereal puffs because that was the only way I could keep her happy while I was taking these pictures.

Not very happy

We got to go visit Daddy at work and see what an oil rig looks like up close.
She loves driving the car! This was probably one of the only times we got some kind of a reaction from the food we fed her. Can you guess what it is? PEAS. She wasn't very interest at the time, but has ate them since. She is a very good eater, not picky at all...I better knock on wood. =)
Leyna in her pretty Christmas Dress. Isn't she just too cute?!?

Happy 7 months baby girl!

Giving Thanks...and so much more

Yummy! Who wouldn't love whip cream and pumkin pie?! This year for Thanksgiving we got to go to Utah to visit my family and some of our friends. We had a lot of fun and got to see a lot of family and friends. We had planned on being there for a little over a week, but things didn't quite go as planned. My sister Brooke got a huge kidney stone that she wasn't able to pass. She was 7 months pregnant so they couldn't blast it. They had to do a surgical procedure to put in a stint so that the fluids could pass through. She was in the hospital for a few days and then couldn't really get around too easy after that. All of this happened at the end of our visit so we had to figure out how to get our husbands back to work and not put Brooke into labor. Our husbands ended up leaving the night after Brooke had surgery and all of us girls stayed behind so that Brooke would have some time to recover. We were there for almost another week. Then we embarked on a LONG drive home through the night with a pregnant woman who was in lots of pain, a 2 year old, and a 6 month old baby. We drove through the night cus we figured the kiddos would sleep most of the way. It ended up being Brooke that had to stop most of the time because of her being and pain and having to go to the bathroom. Well, 16 hours and numberous stops later we were finally home. On the bright side of everything that happened with Brooke we got to spend more time in Utah and see everyone more. It was hard leaving, but our family will be coming here to California to visit for Sydney's blessing in March. Here's lots of pics of all the fun things we got to do. It was fun seeing all of you, hopefully someday we won't just be there visiting, but living there...that is our hope, even more now after seeing everyone.

FIRST STOP....VEGAS

On our way we stopped in Vegas for a night. We got to relax and see the sights. It was a lot of fun. The first night we got there we took out poor baby out til about 11pm. We really only went out to get something to eat, and saw some of the sights while we were there. We got to stay in a nice hotel, and we didn't have to pay for it. We earn points for all the times we stay in hotels for Juan's job and we used some of the points for this stay.
Ready to see Amazing Vegas

While we were out walking the strip Juan saw Josh Blue. If any of you watch Last Comic Standing he was the winner a few seasons ago. He is probably the funniest guy I've ever seen, and so sweet to talk to. Apparently Leyna thought so too she was all talking to him, and she is staring at him in the pic. This was one of our highlights of Vegas.
In front of the Belagio
Just something funny we saw in front of a store on the strip. It's a bubble machine....sorry if some of you find it offensive.

At the hotel in the morning getting ready for another day of vegas

At the gardenn in the Belagio

We celebrated Thanksgiving twice. Once on the sunday before with my mom's family and then on Thanksgiving day with my dad's family.
Let the festivities start!!!
See this face? That is a happy face. That must be why she loves her aunt Brooke so much. =)
Little Caiden, my brother, stuffing his face. I missed him so much!
Me and Grammy. Love you!
Thanksgiving #2
Me with Leyna and my cousin's baby. He is so tiny, almost half Leyna's size but only 1 1/2 months younger than her.

With Grandma
With Grandpa
My sister Lyndsey got her driving permit the day before and went driving for the first time on Thanksgiving day.
Leyna figuered if they're gonna Lyndsey drive, why can't she?
At the park
Leyna's first time in a swing at the park. She liked it.
I swear guys never grow up...but I guess that's what makes them so fun. Juan got to see a lot of his old companions from his mission. Here's him with one of his old companions and a convert from his mission who will be going on his own mission soon.
Temple Square

I love seeing her all bundled up

We got to see some lights at a park
How the night started...How it ended...
Since we stayed longer we got to go out to lunch with some of our counsins. It was a lot of fun!

So did anyone notice something different in the pictures??? I chopped my hair off!!!
Last pic of my long hair
No turning back now... It's really short, but I really like it. Thanks Ash for cutting itGoing Home
