4th of July Festivities

We had a wonderful 4th. An old high school classmate of Josh's came up from Carson City where she and her family are currently living. Josh has his 10 year reunion in September, so some of his classmates have started this need class blog where everyone can post updates. It's been neat for him to see what a lot of his old friends have done over the years. Anyway, that's how we found out that Kristina was living so close to us. They drove up for some of the cool happenings at our near by park. We have a great park right by our house that has a log ride, museum, petting zoo, and other fun attractions. It's only open during the summer months, but we love when it is. It is literally just a few blocks away, and they always have a pretty big fireworks display which we can watch from our back yard.

It was great meeting the Edwards, their kids were so fun! Lincoln had a blast with them, and they all seemed to really get along well. We had a barbecue with tons of yummy food that we each contributed to and it all turned out great! The fireworks were amazing, and the kids enjoyed the glow sticks that Grandma Sherry sent. They actually were the perfect thing since we couldn't do any other small fireworks or sparklers this year with all of the wildfires. Mostly we just loved having the company, holidays can be kind of a let down some times when you don't have family nearby. Having good friends makes all the difference. Hopefully they will be moving closer to Reno soon, so we can get together more often.

Wild West

Rewind a few months! I started this blog shortly after our visit to Virginia City, it has just taken me a while to get it up.
I know that it's been forever since my last post, and I hate having so much to catch up on, but life gets pretty busy. We had a fun visit from Tres and Sherry last month, it's always nice having them here, and they thoroughly enjoyed the time with their grand kids and vise versa. We visited a little town called Virginia City. It was so much fun! It still has a old west cowboy town feel to it; we rode a train, panned for gold, and toured an old gold mine. They had a wonderful old time candy shop which was of course
a hit with Lincoln, and a neat old fire truck museum of sorts. Side note to the candy shop visit: So Josh has recently become quite the health nut, he bikes practically everywhere, works out at the gym at his work on his lunch breaks, and has really been trying to watch what he eats. He's in better shape now then when we got married, he looks great! So I'm obviously not complaining, I'm actually very proud of the changes he's making I know that he'll be healthier and happier because of it for the rest of our lives, but it does have some draw backs for me. Enjoying food for the pure pleasure of it is a lot harder by yourself. Needless to say the candy shop was not as exciting as it would have been a few months earlier. Luckily Sherry was with me and we enjoyed our fudge together, while Linc worked on his spinning light up lollipop.

During their visit we also had the chance to visit this really cool place in Reno called Jump Man Jump. It's basically a little gym with tons of those huge inflatable jumping things. They have the huge slides, the mazes, the one you just jump around in. They even had a little ball place for Oliver to sit in. We were really impressed, So inexpensive and sooo much fun! Lincoln enjoyed every minute, we will definitely go again.
