Road Trip

Let me start off saying that I admit that I am a little crazy but, I decided that I would take a road trip to visit my parents in WA this week while MJ goes on a recruiting trip to BYU. I made the 14 1/2 hour drive Saturday and we made it safely. The kids were amazing!!! I had previously gone to the dollar store and bought little gifts for the trip, wrapped them up, and as Jessi got bored with one I let her unwrap another one. It worked pretty well. I also had plenty of snacks on hand in the front seat to pass back. Jessi was a big help getting things for Tanner and doing more than she was used to for herself. We ended up stopping about every 2-3 hours, but made pretty good time anyway until I got pulled over and had to use cruise control the rest of the way:) Anyway, more to come after we get home and I am on my own computer again.

Neighborhood Carnival

We went to the neighborhood carnival last weekend and the kids had a great time. Here are the highlights:
Jessi got a little surprised but this ride. It was an oval track that was faster on the curves and so it kind of propelled the kids. Jessi was hilarious. She would scream on the curve, stop immediately when is was done, then look on the the next curve with fear.

Am I a horrible person for finding humor in my child's fear?
Jessi was sitting in this car and a little girl came to ride with her and unlike Jessi, who calls everyone she meets her new friend and introduces herself, slid over so the little girl couldn't get in and says, "I'm sitting in front."
Luckily it didn't last long, she slid over and they enjoyed the ride together.

Jessi also got to play some games and make this really cool spin-art frisbee. I didn't get a picture of the final product but she loved making in and it turned out really neat.

We will have to try to go again next year.

Don't forget me!

Jessi saw me take the pictures of Tanner and had to get another one of her and a toy she was holding. I can't get over her expression:)

Tanner's Latest

Tanner is my climber. He often finds places to climb and get into things that I can only imagine. The other day I looked up from reading a book in teh living room and saw this. I took him down and went to get the camera so I could get a picture because I knew he would do it again. Sure enough I got these shots. He wanted to flip through out DVD's which are in a book on the entertainment center. Up until a few days ago this make-shift gate kept him out. I guess I'll have to try something else.

Santa Cruz

We went to Santa Cruz this Saturday and spent the afternoon together as a family. We all had a great time! Here are a few pictures of the highlights. Does anyone know how to do a collage so that you can click on each picture and see it bigger?

Toys

Jessi loved to show me her toys and asks to get her picture taken with them all the time. We got her this bear from "Let's make a Friend" at the mall. It is the same idea as "Build-a-bear". Anyway they have a ton of clothes that you can get for it and we got halloween costumes out this week and she got a "halloween costume" for HeartBear too. She is Ariel the little mermaid if you can't tell. Enjoy.

Bike Ride

Jessi wanted to ride her bike yesterday after Tanner woke up from his nap. She has been learning to ride on her trike, and has been doing well and we got down this bike we got from a friend and she does pretty well with it. The only problem is when she learned on her trike, she would peddle backward whenever she got "stuck" and now when she tried to peddle back on the bike she brakes. We are working on it though. She really wants to learn to ride so she can ride with her friend down the street. Hopefully by next summer she will be ready to try to ride without the training wheels.

Bed Head

Tanner woke up from his nap yesterday and was so sweaty his hair was everywhere. I had to take a picture of it. He really does have some curl in his hair, just not as much as Jessi and I do.

Otter Comments

I am sorry about the "otter" pictures I will tell Lisa she needs to use some "otter" pictures:)
From MJ

Monterey

We went to Monterey the other weekend with the kids to see the aquarium. It was great to see their excitement, they loved it!!! We got a picture of them outside the aquarium next to this otter that is outside one of the shops. Jessi loved the otter as you can see and we got her a little pink otter at the shop.

Enjoying the Heat of Summer

Here are Jessi and Tanner enjoying the pool and slide in our backyard. We just had the pool out for a BBQ with Vicky and Mike but then Jessi wanted the slide in the pool too. They had a blast and we all enjoyed the warm weather and the shade. It has been in the 90-100's all week and we haven't been outside much during the day. We like our sound wall for it's shade!

I have finally decided to try this blog thing out. Hopefully it will be easier than sending a monthly update and it won't be as long. It will take some time to figure this out so bare with me. Enjoy!
