Doorgift Idea & Budget

>>  16 July 2012

As I mentioned in my previous post, I will present my doorgift idea for my upcoming wedding.

So for bride who google and unintentionally click on this post, please know that I will help you a lot. Haha.

First.
What is doorgift? Doorgift is something we give to people when they attend our event/wedding. Is giving doorgift really that important?

No. Its not that important. It just that we give doorgift to appreciate those who come to our wedding and of course if you appreciate them, you will want to give the best item. But is it right to spend a lot of money or more than you can afford in doorgift?

Of course no.

As what our Rasulullah said, wasting is the practice of devil. To avoid have the same practice like the devil, please spend wisely in doorgift. Give food or something useful to the guest. You will get rewarded by Allah as well. (^_^)

Second
Doorgift can be divided into two sections ; for common people and VIP. Some even divide into more sections. It depends. For me, I divide it into three sections:

1) Common people
2) VIP
3) Kids

Third
This section is about number of people we invited. As a start, I will only invite 600 people to my wedding. A small number I know but I don't think me and my mom have a lot of people that we know. Since my father passed away, we had lost contact with family at his side due to some circumstances. You can guess what was that about.

Well, among the 600,
100 of it is VIP
100 of it is kids

So for common people is 400 people.

Common people
Part of doorgift for VIP is the same as doorgift for common people. So the quantity needed is 500pcs. I brainstormed about this a lot. Since it involves a lot of quantity and of course money. I want to give something that represent my wedding theme and also nice in the money section. After a lot of brainstorming, I finally reach to one decision. I already present this idea to my mom and she was okay with it.

Awesome!

So what is it?

It is chocolate chips cookies in the jar or pickles in the jar. Half half each.

pickes in the jar. will buy them at Pinang. Hope to get a lot with cheaper price. will need 250 pcs of jar

chocolate chips cookies in the jar. and guess what? Since I only need 250 pcs of jar, I think I will bake this! Hee.
Okay how about the decoration?

this is the closest of what I visioned the doorgift would be. nice isn't it?
So for this, I need to have:
a) 500 jars.
After some blogwalking, I found one place we can buy the glass jar with cheaper price. can get RM350  for 500 jars. Go here.

b) 500 tq tag
I would like to DIY this. It will be fun!

c) Fabric
Fabrics to cover the bottle lid. How many meter would that be. Is 10 meter enough?

d) Rope
The rope to tie the tq tag. Oh love the rustic feeling of the jar! hee

I hope everything will go well.

VIP
Doorgift for VIP should be a lil bit special than others. Why? Of course because they are our family and friends. Since they are close with us, they should understand the bride is going to start her new life, a lot of money will be needed so no need to spend a lot on this.

My idea is to give them something that is useful. No need things like deco item or whatsoever. I want to give them this:

love this. can get reward from Allah s.w.t too. InsyaAllah. Already booked this!

Tasbih :)
VIP will also get the jar item. Simple and modest kan my doorgift for VIP? I like it that way.

I want to put all this in a paper bag that can withstand the weight of the jar. Preferably white. Don't know where to get it. I think it is quite impossible to have it in white.

Kids
Kids' doorgift is so easy. Can put candies or chocolates in box and they will love it! Hee. Like this box

the small box can get RM0.29/pcs. So for 100 kids, only RM29. Hee.

Okay I wrote more than I should.

Bye.

Assalamualaikum.

My Mixed Feeling Weekend

>>  15 July 2012

I think my life is a bit upside down now.

First, health.

For this week only, I'd eat maggi twice which was definitely not good. I was so tempted with the mee texture and felt wanting to eat something spicy, so I just ate it. I don't know about other ppl but for myself, maggi gave me quite an impact. Or should I say impacts. When I woke up in the morning, my face bloated and my eyes became like panda. So disturbing. My skin also become dry. You know when sensitve skin become dry? We get pimples. In all different places. For my case, at my chin and nose. Nose is definitely a no-no! Erhh.

Need to stop eating maggi. So close. Haha.

Second, financial.

For my wedding, everything I need to use my own money. Sometimes I feel sad about how other ppl got financial support from their parent but not me. I was so jealous when I read blogger's blog telling how their parent bought for them this and that. So jealous and stress and sad that I was planning to get my wedding postponed. I know I should save a lit bit in some areas. I was trying my best but I also want my dream wedding. Until I read about a blog about how she saved, ikat perut, did a lot of DIY, tried to get the best price as much as she could and painted her own bedroom! It was so inspirational. After I read a couple of her posts, then I know she is just like me, lost her dad. Her mom is a single mom. I felt disappointed on myself. I should understand this sooner.

Sorry mama for my bad thought. I will try to not repeat it. InsyaAllah.

Third, self-manage.

I was so messy these days. Really. I haven't clean my room for weeks! By that I mean I didn't get it broomed. My room got dusty really fast that I need to at least broom it once a week. So mengada.

Other than that, I went to work so late! Considering I am still under probation, I came to work at 9.05am. Everyday. So not good. You know why I was late? I woke up at 745am or 8am. Then I rinsed my clothes, hanged them, ironed my clothes, bathed, applied some moisturizer, bb cream, eyeliner and lipbalm and by then, it was 835am. Need to go through the jam and arrived at work at 9.05am. Really don't know when I will get myself confirmed if like this. Haih.

And of course. I wasted my money on unnecessary things. You know how food can really make your wallet torn? I know. By buying unnecessary food. Food like chocolates, McD, Pizza Hut, carbonated drinks, buying more than what we need and the list goes on. I also wasted the money on watching 3D movie. It was extra RM8 you know.

I also bathed around 10pm-1100pm. And made full use of my dirty clothes basket. Not good not good.

Really need to wake up now. Pronto!

Fourth, wedding progress.

1) Haven't send my solemnization fabric to tailor. Stress. Tailor don't want it. Need to send it after puasa.
2) Haven't book the wedding card. Erh. Still can I think if after puasa.
3) Haven't buy the reception fabric. OH MY GOD!
4) Haven't book the photographer. Stress.

Oh August, please come quickly. I need you.

Okay.
Enough with the mixed feeling.

Now pictures of what I was doing during this weekend.

love this flower! (excuse the shoes)
So I went to Kedai Bunga Vivian in Chow Kit. It was my first time going to Chow Kit! Saturday is definitely not a good day for a first timer. Chow Kit was so packed and I sincerely thought I was in different state. Not Kuala Lumpur. Culture shock there. Kedai Bunga Vivian was so small. I thought it was so big because bloggers were talking about it. Nope its not. The price is quite cheap considering in KL but in Manjung Perak I can find way cheaper price. Example the FM Creation box, Kedai Bunga Vivian is selling it at 0.33/pc but in Kedai Borong Sinaran Manjung, they sell it at 0.29/pc.

I bought this at a shop near my rent house. I fought with my fiance and to release tension, I went to Kedai Jahit. Hee. Typical woman. Need shopping to release stress. This was RM20 for 1 roll.
I went to Pameran Pengantin today! To search for wedding card.
Got hooked with 1 booth. There was 1 promotion. For no fold card, 65 cents/each for 1000 pcs. Can mix bride and groom with different design! My fiance liked this but me not so much. I wanted the card that can be folded. It was 0.75 cents/each for 1000 pcs. My fiance didn't like it pulak. At the end, we didn't booked any. Sigh
our mission was not successful. so we went to CT Handicraft in Seksyen 19 Shah Alam. The price was quite reasonable, I think. This paper bag was RM1. I like a plain beg with no Thank You so this is a no-no for me.

then I bought this pillow-lie polisterin. This is expensive. RM5 each. I bought 10, so it was RM50.

I also bought this satin fabric to cover the polisterin. I bought it at Nagoya. RM7/meter x 2. I know. I can get it cheaper actually.
So many typing. Need to get a good rest now.

Goodnite my blog.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

on financial plan for wedding

>>  28 May 2012

Recently there's too many mixed feelings. In term of financial, family and dream wedding. After wedding is very important. I read before there were cases where because of wedding, couples applied a lot of financial loan. There was one story where this one couple since they had a lot of money on their hand, they lavishly spent on the designer items. Bought the new wedding outfits (send to designer), giving the other half items like ipad, blackberry, spent on expensive dais and a lot more. And after the wedding event ended, they have to use all of their salary to pay the loan. Sigh.

Girls out there, always remember wedding day is a one day event. The most important thing is after the wedding day. Pls don't care so much about what other ppl think. Ppl will always talk. Saying things like '' oh simplenye wedding dia'', '' sikitnya duit hantaran'', '' xcantik pon makeup die (well I did say that. but I blamed the MUA)'', ''xcantikla hantaran dia'', '' eh kenapa no hantaran xgenap'', '' sikitnya menu dia'', ''nape sikit sgt org dtg wedding dia'' , ''doorgift bagi ni je? bekas bukan main besar lagi'' bla bla bla. Some will hurt your feeling so much but its not like they are the one who will feed you afterwards. In fact the purpose of wedding feast is to inform people that we are getting married. My brother even said, if you don't have enough money, just invite small number of ppl but use the kompang to announce your wedding. I couldn't agree more. Its true.

So for my wedding later, only small number of ppl will be invited. Definitely will not reach up to 1000. Nope. And I wont spend a lot on the doorgift. Especially the packaging. You know ppl nowadays love to use the glass jar for the doorgift? I was also tempted with the idea. But when I showed to my mom, she said 'so bekas akan lebih mahal dari isinya?" hahaha. Its true. Its not like the glass jar is so gorgeous.

this glass jar

Back then during my sister's wedding, she just gave muffin. Her muffin was expensive. 1 muffin = RM1 but together with box. And for kids, she gave marshmallow. And ppl loved the muffin. And the extra muffins we saved it in the fridge and they can last for more than a week! Yeah, talk about being practical! Hahaha.

Okay I've been rambling a lot now.

Before I stopped, I already bought candies for my small candy buffet. Hihi. My candy buffet will have this:

1) apam polkadot
2) fruits i.e grapes
3) marshmallow
4) gummy
5) mini pudding
6) candies
7) corn pudding (which my mom promise to make)

Only 7? I don't care. I don't want to add more. lol

So to my friend who will come to my engagement (so sad my tukang buat hantaran omay cannot make it (T_T)), this is my candy buffet arrangement. Please help to arrange if happen to be I am busy on that day.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

oh annoying

>>  25 April 2012

Just wanted to tell my feeling now, I feel so annoying with some of the vendors who charged really high price for their service (the bridal boutique especially). There is one vendor I asked (from Taiping), how much will it cost to my place, Sitiawan? He said MINIMUM RM8k. Seriously? Its not like celebrity hired you before. And for me to rent your dais, your flowers and your service for makeup can reach up to RM8k? I feel so frustrated. They literally sucking out your money. Its not like it will be ours at the end. If later when the time comes for me to book, the price get so high, I will DIY my own dais, the main table, the handbouqet and the dress.  At least if DIY, I can use back! Grrr.

The most important thing is after the wedding. Not during the wedding. Wedding is just one day thing. So spend wisely and always be moderate. Don't compare with others. They got sponsored. Or maybe they apply a lot of personal loan. When you doing the budget for wedding, don't forget budget for your new house too. In case if you renting, always calculate the deposit. Don't overlook.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.
