a man of many hats

The other day we realized that our little guy has a lot of hats for someone in his position. So we decided to take pictures of him in some of them.

Now being the gentleman that he is, he knew it was impolite to wear hats in the house. This caused the need for military strategy and a team of trained individuals to capture the pictures above. Below is the shot taken immediately after the corresponding one above. Clearly this event could not have been captured by one individual alone. Notice the one handed technique used, leaving the free hand available to ward off those who dare to try and stop him.

Of course I believe it was more because he doesn't like to hide his natural fohawk.

Fun Week

Noah and I have been very busy this week!

We had lots of visitors at the beginning of the week. My sister came over on Monday!

Tuesday my mom came down so that the four of us could go down to IKEA for some Christmas shopping.

IKEA was great. I love that store and it was so nice to go during the week when the place was almost empty (well at least compared to the weekends). Noah even had a good time checking out the chairs and play area.

Wednesday everyone left, but we were still busy bees. We had to get ready for our big Play Group party on Thursday. The party went very well. We had a cookie exchange and everyone brought such great goodies to share. Also it was fun to have a house full of babies. Noah was very good at sharing his toys with everyone too!!

We have a big weekend planned with more visitors, but I will wait and post about that next week.

Party Weekend

This past weekend we had two different parties to attend. One for just adults and the other for the whole family.

Saturday night was the Christmas party for Eric's office. We meet some of his coworkers for a drink at a restaurant before heading over to the party. We always have a blast at this party. This year I bought a new outfit for the party. Now if you know me, you know I like to have Eric and I match when we go out to parties like this. (He may not like it, but I think it is fun.) So this year was no different. You can't tell in the pictures but I bought red shoes to match his red tie. It was so fun.Anyway, back to the party. It was great. Good food, good friends, dancing, and a couple of adult beverages! We missed the little guy while we were out, but it was great to get a way for an evening. Thanks again to Eric's parents for coming down and watching Noah so we could go out!!

So then on Sunday we had a Play Group Christmas party. It was also a lot of fun. All the kids were dressed up in their Christmas outfits. Here are a couple of pictures of the kids.

If you notice the progression of the shots, Noah got a hand to the face and didn't make it too long. Eric thinks he needs to toughen up since it was a girl who "hit" him. Oh well, it was still wonderful to see all the kids play and get the families together for Christmas.

We have a full week this week and will post again once I have time.

Christmas at the zoo!

Last weekend we took a trip to the zoo with my mom and dad and our good friends Jackie, Elijah, and Gretta! It was a very cold day, but there was no snow so we decided to go.

Noah had a great time. He loved the lights and animals. He was growling at everything. It was so cute. Here are some pictures from the event. (Thanks Mom and Dad for the pictures!!)

Noah and this donkey had a moment where Noah growled and the donkey just kept getting closer to him. He loved it!!!

7-months!

Our little guy turned 7 months old on Monday. I finally got around to taking his picture last night. No new stats this month since we just went to the doctor last month. He is starting to grow out of his 3-6 months clothes and into the 6-9 month size which is fun since it means new clothes, but sad because he has so many cute outfits that I still want to squeeze him into one last time.

He also decided that last night was going to be the night he started saying dada!!! He has said baba and mama, but now that he has said dada he won't stop. It's pretty cute actually.

This last month has been so wonderful. He really is getting out of the baby phase with him eating solids and playing so well by himself. It has truly been amazing to watch him change this month, I think because I seem to notice something new everyday.

O Christmas Tree

Last Friday we finally got around to putting up the Christmas tree. I am one that likes to do it the weekend of Thanksgiving usually the Sunday when we get back, but we have had a lot going on and just didn't get a chance to put it up during the week. Anyway, since this was little man's first time with a Christmas tree, I figured he had to be dressed for the occasion.

He loved putting up ornaments with both Eric and I. He also loved watching us decorate the tree and reminisce about some of our favorite ornaments. This year I put up only the ones that had a story behind it.

All in all, it was a great evening and a great looking tree!!

Snow Day

Today was Noah's first experience in the snow. We didn't get much snow, but it was enough for some pictures.
(He was falling in this one...so we had to go in after this)

As a side note, we had a great weekend and I will post about it all later this week.

Puffs

So we have found a new favorite food the little guy. Gerber Puffs!!

After our doctor appointment I went out and bought these since she said he was ready for them. At first he wasn't so sure about the texture, but now he loves them. I think we will try Cheerios next, but these are softer and I don't worry about him choking on these since they dissolve so quickly. Anyway, here is a video of him eating them.

Also, here are a couple of pictures from after his snack.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We were thankful to have our own little gobbler this year as we celebrated. He spent time with both families and even rocked out turkey day in style!

6-month update

Yesterday we finally had his 6-month appointment. He did really well, considering it was nap time. He weighed in at 16 pounds, 3 ounces putting him in the 17% and was 26.25 inches long putting him in the 30%. The doctor said he is doing great and to just increase the solids a little more so that he can get more calories in during the day. He is up to three solid meals a day. He has had all the different kinds of veggies so far and we are working our way through the fruits. Once we are done with them we can eat pretty much anything. She even said we could start finger foods like the puffs and Cheerios. So I am pretty excited about that.

We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and we will post some pictures from little man's first Thanksgiving next week.

Carrots

So we tried carrots yesterday and they were a big hit. Here are some pictures of the event, well after he was done. I didn't know if he would like them or not, but he ended up finishing the entire jar! So I had to make my own for him to have more of. They way I am doing the baby food is buying one jar of each vegetable just to see if I should make some or not. So far he had liked everything we have tried so I have been making all sorts of food for him. Enjoy the pictures!!

6-months old

6 months old...really!?!?!?! I can't hardly believe it has been 6 months since Noah was born. There are times it seems like time has just flown by then I can think back to days when I thought they would never end. Ultimately though I can't imagine my life without this little creature we have in our lives. He is just so much fun these days. He loves to play and be with us. It seems like he learns something new everyday. Right now, he is really into his bouncer / activity center that we got for him awhile ago. He is finally big enough to jump and play in it. There are time when I think he may break the toy because he is bouncing so much in it. (I will have to get it on video and post because it is pretty cute.)

As for how he is developing since the last month, he is doing great. He is sitting up all the time now. He is also standing with our help whenever we let him. I think he would much rather stand at times then lay on the floor. He loves to talk and babble to himself, the wall, his toys, or us. It is pretty funny to watch. He is also eating solids including cereal and some veggies. Really he has only had squash and sweet potatoes, but we have all the veggies to try we are just taking it slow so we know if he is allergic to anything. So far he really likes oatmeal instead of the rice cereal and sweet potatoes over the squash. I have even started making some of his baby food for him. It is really easy to do (just cook any veggie and then puree it in a food processor or blender to the consistency that you want) so I figured I would save some money and make it myself.

For his half birthday we went to a local park and took some pictures. It was a gorgeous day and we got a lot of great shots. We also set up the home studio in the guest room and took some shots. Now I am saying we, but I really mean Eric. All I really did was try to get Noah to smile and look at the camera. An important job, yes, but I was not the photographer. Eric did a great job and we are very pleased with the pictures. Now you may look at the pictures at the park and wonder why Noah isn't all that smiley in them. Well the answer was quite clear if you were there with us. There were a quite a few people there and instead of looking at us and smiling Noah kept looking and watching all the other people around us. The picture still came out great, just not as smiley as he normally is.

Here are some of our favorite shots.

His 6 month check up isn't for a couple more weeks, so I will give you the update then.

Happy Halloween

We had a great Halloween weekend. It all started Friday night when my parents and brother came over to carve pumpkins. My dad loves to carve pumpkins so it was nice to have him there with all of his supplies and tools to make the process a little easier.

Here are a few pictures of the finished products. On Halloween Eric and I had a couple of parties to go to so we knew we were going to dress up then take Noah to a couple of the neighbors and then leave to go off to our parties. It was fun taking our little giraffe out for everyone to see. Now at this point in the week he had been in his costume almost every day. Everywhere we went in the week I had him dressed up just so we could get some use of the costume.

Here are some pictures of his first Halloween. It was a great one!!

As a side note. Our little guy is getting really strong and loves to sit up! It's been amazing to see him get more and more steady each day. We have had a couple of tumbles, but nothing major.
