Quick Tip Tuesday: Embossing Small Cuts

Welcome to Quick Tip Tuesday!  As this week is all about embossing here at Fantabulous Cricut, I decided to follow along with the theme.

I love using my Cuttlebug to emboss.  A tip that I would like to share with you is to use a smaller folder that comes with a die/emboss set to emboss your small cuts.
For my little butterfly, I used a Cuttlebug butterfly embossing folder which has the look of mini Swiss Dots.  I put my tiny butterfly cut carefully within the folder to emboss and the result is embossing that looks far more to scale with the image than it would have had I used an A2 folder.
These little note cards are 2.5x2.5, so you can get an idea of the size of the butterfly.  (The mushroom and butterfly were cut from Paisley.)

Happy Crafting!

Spotlight Sunday

Welcome to Spotlight Sunday. My name is Saundra and I am your spotlight hostess here at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.
Today I would like to introduce you to Tammy from Tamminnie’s Designs.
Tammy will be our guest designer for our next Challenge Me Monday. We here at FCCB wanted you to get to know Tammy a bit so we asked her a few crafty questions.
1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting? Why?

Back in 2008, I started with doing simple scrapbooking pages. With having four boys, I wanted to preserve their pictures in a memorable way. I was buying design paper, stickers and even a few kits. By the end of 2009, I had learned many techniques and to this day I am still learning new ways to scrapbook and I love it.

2. What is your favorite type of project to make?

I cannot say that I have a favorite type of project. I always seem to step out of the box. One of the things I enjoy doing is recycling items and making them into something special.

3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects?

My favorite product is using rhinestones or stickles...I love the shine.

4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?

My favorite cricut cartridge of all time is Tags, bags and boxes. I tend to use that one alot. With the gypsy you can alter them to your liking.

5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?

Well if you ever want to see me in my free time you have to go to the football field, basketball court, wrestling meet, weightlifting matches, or volunteering at the elementary school
6. Any other info you would like us to know about you.

When I scrapbook, sew or craft it is my time to get away from it all. I call it my peaceful time...everyone should have one!

Here are a few things that you will find on Tammy’s blog:
Make sure you visit Tammy’s blog to discover all the other wonderful things she has to share with you.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know a new crafty friend.
Come back tomorrow to see what Tammy has created for you along with our Fantabulous Design Team.
Happy Crafting!
Saundra

Scrappin' Saturday :O)

Happy Scrappin' Saturday!!!  Since this week we are focusing on our favorite weather, I must ask you what's the weather been like where you are?  In my part of the world, we have been enjoying sunshine and temps in the 70's!  This is great since we recently have had some of the coldest weather in 50 years!

Ok - this week I have a one page sketch to show you.  My daughter took a picture of a snow day we had last year and I just love how it turned out.  I wanted it to stand alone, so I created a simple sketch to show it.

Here is my example of using the sketch.

I used Mini Monsters to create the tree and Winter Frolic for the title.  I then added a few scraps from my scrap pile, a grouping of flowers, and some die cut birds.  Now I can proudly showcase a photo my daughter took at the age of 10!

Now it is your turn!  How about showcasing a picture of your favorite weather on a scrapbook page.  Use the sketch any way you interpret it and leave a link in the comments section so I can come by for a visit!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a FANTABULOUS weekend, ya'll!!

Fantabulous Friday - "Paisley"

Good morning and welcome to another Fantabulous Friday!
I'm so happy that you stopped by today and hope you will enjoy today's exploration of.....
Paisley.
This week's challenge here at FCCB is going to be fun:
Weather Forecast:
Make a project featuring your favorite seasonal weather (Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter).
After reading this, all I could think was SPRING, SPRING, SPRING!
I am soooo ready for spring!
Living here in LA...(ok, so it's really Lower Alabama), we don't actually get a lot of "spring".
Our longest season seems to be summer...which here in LA is hot and humid...make-up melting humid!
Fall is great while it's here, but it usually doesn't cool off enough to feel like fall until about mid-October.
Colder winter weather doesn't arrive until late December or January and is usually rainy and wet.
Then...finally...SPRING arrives!
Keeping this week's challenge in mind, I looked through my cartridges to see what put me in a "spring-time" frame of mind. Once I picked up my Paisley cartridge, the search was over! The images on the box just shout SPRING with all their bright colors and cute details!
This is a fun cartridge to work with and has some fun Creative Features:
*Layers
*Button
*Card/Tab
*Word/Word Blackout
*Shadow/Word Shadow
Ok...let me show you a sweet card I made using this cartridge...
For this card, I used the sweet little umbrella on page 48, cut at 4 1/2 inches. I love the butterfly! Adding some stitching lines with a gel pen and a bit of bling really gives the card a finished look...easy peasy!
****************
My next project using the Paisley cartridge incorporates more of the Creative Features...
I love all the bright, cheerful, spring-time colors in this layout!

*On this page, I used the Word Feature and the Word Shadow Feature to create my "beautiful" title.
*The little butterfly is from the Button Feature on page 49. I cut it twice at 1 inch and 1 /14 inches and layered it to add a bit of dimension.
*And I love, love, love these mushrooms! How cute are they? I used the Shadow Feature on these cuts along with some pop-dots to make them stand out against the page...

On to the second page....

*Again, I used the Word Feature and the Word Shadow Feature to create my "fabulous" title.
*After putting that cute little snail together, I used the Shadow Feature to pop him up.
*I used the Button Feature from page 38 to create that gorgeous flower on the journaling pocket.
I cut the flower 3 times and layered it all together. I love how it turned out!
And the dragonfly....

How cute is he?
*This little guy can be found on page 26. Using the Shadow Feature, some pop dots and a bit of bling has him just dancing through the air!
**************
I also came across a wonderful video that really helped me understand how to use the Card/Tab
Creative Feature on this cartridge.
Take a look at this lovely card...
Christina at Creations With Christina, does a terrific job of explaing this feature.
You can find this great card and the video HERE.
Ok...that about wraps things up for this Fantabulous Friday! Get busy with those weather related projects and post them in this week's challenge. I always love seeing what you create!
Until next time,
Tanya

Thursday's Tutorials: Making a Weather Wheel

Happy Thursday Everyone and Welcome to another Thursday's Tutorial here at Fantabulous Cricut. I hope you are all enjoying our Weather Forecast theme this week! Summer can not get here fast enough for me, I am ready for the cold weather to be over.
While looking around this week, I found a great tutorial on how to make a weather wheel. This would be great for kid's projects or for a teacher's classroom. Jin at Under a Cherry Tree Blog made this wonderful project using the Weather Girl SVG set from Lettering Delights. Of course, if you do not use SCAL or MTC with your Cricut, you could easily make something similar with cuts from Cricut Cartridges.
She started out by making the base piece and lining up all of her weather types so that you would be able to see them through the window.

She said that she uses the top layer while placing these down as a guide to make sure all of her weather symbols are lined up correctly.

She also used the negative image from her rain cut to make sure and get the rain drops lined up correctly.

Be sure to stop by Jin's blog to get the full details on this weather wheel and to see lots of other great projects.

Also, remember if you don't use any of the other software with your Cricut, you could make your own weather wheel by cutting multiple sized circles to layer and then adding the windows and weather elements of your choice. My niece loves to play school and I think something like this would be great for a teaching/school play set.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and remember you still have time to enter this week's challenge.
Happy Crafting!
