At the beginning of March I participated in a favorite things swap and made this apron as one of MY favorite things I sent to my swap partner.
My friend Lacey and I decided that we would do another little swap between the two of us and I would make her a flirty apron and she was going to surprise me with something for my girls. Silly me, I forgot to take a picture of the Apron I made for Lacey, but she took a great one if you want to see here. I also had enough fabric to make one for her daughter as well. It was so fun to make and helped me get out of my winter funk.
Here are some pictures of the cute little nightgowns Lacey made for my girls. They are adorable and my girls love them. Taking a picture of them was another story though, they were a little spastic and I could barely get them to sit still for a second or two!
Thanks Lac for the fun swap!
I got some more fabric this morning and have started working on some matching spring dresses for the girls. Hopefully I'll have them done in a couple days so I can post the pics. All this sewing makes me want to sew more!

Rubber Yuckie, You're the One!
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
I was squeezing the water out of one of the girls' rubber duckies tonight (one she used for preschool NOT in the tub) and remembered this little clip I saw. Gross or what!

For all you gardners out there
Have you started your seeds yet? I have, and I thought I was late! Apparently the inside of a tomato is the perfect place to germinate a seed. I'm so looking forward to garden tomatoes again this summer, just don't think they're going to be mine. Sadly, I think our garden this year is going to have to be a few 5 gallon buckets on our porch. What are your plans for a garden?

Swapalicious!
This month I participated in my first blogger swap, Mamarazzi's Favorite Things Swap. It was so fun. I know the anticipation of receiving someone else's favorite things is thrilling, but it was also thrilling for me to gather together MY favorite things for someone else.
This is what my swap partner sent me:
A bright sunshiny hand-written card
Blingy flipflops, perfect for the upcoming spring weather!
Mmm, candles
Candles,
and more candles. YUP, that one's already been lit. I couldn't keep my nose off these things!
Burt's Bees Lip Balm. I'm a chapstick-a-holic!
Chocolate! Snickers! There was a whole box of these 100 calorie babies, but I couldn't help myself before I remembered to take a picture.

Spring is in the air
Finally, after a quiet, lonely winter on the farm, we're starting to see signs of new life around us. Not only is the snow melting and the daffodils popping up, but, there's been quite the hussle and butsle out in the "sheep shed" the past week. You see it's lambing season. (I don't know if that's what it's really called but that's what I'm going with for now.) There are 15 ewes this year that are pregnant and they each generally have 2 lambs, so there's going to be a lot more baa-ing around here pretty soon.
Early Tuesday morning the first 2 lambs were born and we got to go and check them out. They were adorable and the girls loved seeing them, especially Erin.
This mama was actually a little early and didn't have a chance to get sheared before the lambs came; she got sheared later that day though.
As of today when we went out to check and there were 7 total; 3 more ewes had given birth. I think we had just missed a birth because 3 of the lambs were still wet and had a heat lamp on them; one hadn't even opened it eyes yet! They were so tiny.
That same day we saw the first lambs was also the day that was set up to shear the sheep. Imagine, being 9 months pregnant, with twins, on the point of delivery, being manhandled like this to get your wool coat off! It was fun to watch though.
Pretty soon the cows and horses down the street are going to start giving birth also. We didn't see them too much last year so we'll have to make more of an effort to this year.
If you want to see our first adventure with the little lambies being born, check out this post from last march.
