Seriously!

Of all the recipes that I have mastered, from easy to difficult, I can't make a cupcake to save my life!!! Here's the evidence. Ben actually thought I had let Shelby help when he came home and saw them.

And here's the pan I had to cut them out of.

Even with the mishap, they were sure darn good. I used the cake and frosting recipe from off of the Hershey's cocoa box, my sister had made it for her daughter's birthday cake and it was the best chocolate cake I have ever had!

Gracias Dora!

The other day Shelby was on the back porch trying to open the screen door to get in. I was in the kitchen and all of a sudden I hear her say, "mom, this door is stuck, it needs Spanish. Say, 'abre puerta.'" Needless to say, I thought it was both hilarious and impressive. Once again, she learned her Spanish from Dora, NOT me. Shelby has a great memory and learns things so quickly.

We did it!

Yesterday my sister and I completed our first 5K, running the whole thing. It was the Wasatch Woman Love Your Body Run in Sugar House Park. We have been talking about doing it for a while but both of us ended up pregnant and unable to run. A few months ago seemed like a great time to get back to our goal and we started training. What a great motivator. I was able to lose about 8 or 9 pounds while training and I can start fitting into my clothes again! That's always a plus. I'm so proud of my sister too, Juli, for running the whole thing with me. I know it was a little hard for her and she probably wanted to walk more than once but she didn't give up. You're awesome sis! We're planning to run another 5K in several more months to keep us motivated and in shape.
Here are some pics from race day.

This is at Sugar House Park about an hour or so before the race is to start.

Fancy footwear to keep track of our times.

Ready, ready, ready, ready to run! Lined up at the start line with just minutes to go. There were over 1300 runners.

Just finished! We can't get the official time from our little chip for a week but according to my sister's watch we did it in just over 34 minutes.

Helmet Free!

Erin is officially helmet-free as of last Tuesday!

And she's lovin' it!

After Erin's last head scan, the practitioner told us her head was pretty perfect and she now has 99% symmetry. We couldn't be more thrilled (especially since our insurance ended up footing the bill). We certainly won't miss the stinky cheese head smell. I'm so glad I get to snuggle my baby face to face now, that's what I missed the most.

Oh, Cheerios!

I love this video of Shelby, she was so excited when she realized what she was reading. It was totally unrehearsed, if you were wondering.
I'm glad I was able to catch it on video because she does not usually let me record her, she likes to watch the videos instead.
