Grandma's In Town
Grandma Mary is known for her spoiling, so when we picked her up from the airport today, Josh took the opportunity to snuggle close and whisper in her ear, "You can spoil me a train."

Christmas Spirit...alive and well.
I am proud to proclaim that I have instilled a strong sense of Christmas Spirit in my boys. I just spied on Joshy singing a Christmas song while he was playing. He also asks to crank up the volume when we're in the car. Like me, I think it's more than the presents that they're excited for. It's the little traditions that we do in anticipation for the big day. Pulling out the ornaments that we've collected, setting up the nativities, reading Christmas stories, watching Christmas movies, and giving goodies to our neighbors. The snow really helps, too (something I didn't have growing up).

To Each His Own
One of our neighbor's gave each of the boys a chocolate Christmas Advent calendar. Josh ate his chocolates within a few days. Andrew faithfully eats just one a day.

Josh's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Josh fell asleep on the couch, sitting straight up with a slight frown on his face, and shuddering from crying. The poor guy.
Preceding his falling asleep, his dad took pity on him, covered him with a blanket and cuddled next to him. Before this, he was screaming and tantruming so much so that big brother and mom finally went upstairs to read bedtime stories without him (we tried reading stories with him, but he kept getting offended by our every move). Before this, he'd gotten his fingers smashed by the bathroom door even though he was warned about 5 million times to NEVER PLAY WITH DOORS (at least the threat that he'd get his fingers cut off didn't hold true this time).
And before this, we developed this game during our walk up the canyon where we kind of teased/tortured him to get him to finish the trail. Josh can't stand to lose a race, but unfortunately Andrew has longer legs and can ALWAYS outrun him. So I told Andrew to let Josh run ahead of him, then he could run to catch up to Josh, but he couldn't outrun him. So Josh would run, Andrew would wait until he got ahead a good distance, then he'd run to catch up to him. Josh would scream and yell, "Andrew! you're a poo poo!" Andrew would freeze. Josh would freeze. When I caught up to them both, I'd say, "Josh, I'm going to win the race.." Then Josh would start running again, and we'd just repeat the game until we got to the end of the trail.

Our middlest child just can't catch a break, can't he?

Andrew and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Play
Andrew had the star role as "Alexander" in his school play this month. His drama teacher, Mr. Rogan, had informal auditions for this role (the kids didn't know they were auditioning) and he saw something in Andrew for this part. When I read the script and saw how many lines he would have, it was a bit overwhelming. Andrew is not super verbal and I didn't know how he was going to be able to memorize all of his parts. We practiced, and practiced, and practiced every night....his teacher practiced, and practiced, and practiced with him at school every day. Andrew took direction from Mr. Rogan well and did what he was asked to do. He didn't once complain or question. And....he did awesome! He was so stinkin' cute on the day of his performance. I don't think there was a mother there that was more proud. He knew all of his lines (and even helped his classmates with theirs!). I think he may have a talent for this and we're going to enroll him in a theater summer camp this summer - he is very excited!
Here is the video of his play. It is based on the book, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."

First Laugh
I made Connor laugh today. He LOVES being dressed or changed. He can be upset and hollering, but when I lay him down on his changing table, he's all smiles. It's the funniest thing! So today when I was dressing him, he started giggling when I took off his shirt. He's also very ticklish under his chin. He also loves his bath - it's another surefire way to elevate his mood.

Survival Mode
My second child had three pudding cups, an ice cream sandwich, and some Halloween candy for lunch.
