These are some family pictures taken by our friend Matt Baker--we think he did a wonderful job. My mom made the dresses and also embroidered me a matching shirt. We don't take family pictures very often, so you will probably see this again on our Christmas card!

Easter Pictures

The Saturday before Easter was the town's Easter egg hunt. Though it was hard to wait behind the line until it was time to start, the girls loved running around grabbing eggs. At one point, a mass of running kids and parents with video recorders/cameras stampeded across our little area and I lost Myra in the confusion, but she didn't seem to notice.

Some of the eggs held special tickets that you could turn in for prizes. Myra won the grand prize--a bag full of smaller prizes and Alice got a bucket and stuffed lamb.

As I was doing these cookies with Alice, I realized I was being way too perfectionistic and not letting her do much, so the last batch I left her alone and she did it all by herself. She rolled out the dough, cut the shapes out, and put them on the cookie sheet, and you know what? They looked just as good as the ones I'd made!

If you haven't noticed, Alice got a haircut a couple of weeks ago. I'd been going crazy trying to keep her thin, unruly hair up in rubber bands, but this is so much easier!

We had Easter dinner with our friends the Bakers and then had an egg hunt in their backyard. Their son Miles had fun squishing the hard boiled eggs on his head--wish I had a picture to post, it was really funny. Alice and Myra were more concerned with finding as many eggs as possible.

Bruce's Book Corner

When I married Bruce, I was under the impression that he enjoyed reading as much as me. But somewhere in all those years and years of school and all those textbooks, journals, etc. that he was required to read, the desire to read for 'fun' had died. Well, I am here to report that it is up and kicking again! After Bruce took his licensing exam a couple of weeks ago (after months of studying), he picked up a book and read it in two days! We were trying to think of other books he has finished since we've been married and only one other book comes to mind. Needless to say, I'm sure you are all wondering what book has pulled him out of his rut. It is a great book I recommended to him called The Hunger Games. I have the second book in the series on request at the library already (it comes out in September), if that says anything about how much I enjoyed it.
