When all you need is a box...

Isn't it great when all you need is a box to contain your child? Sometimes you just have to put them somewhere. I thought it was funny that we've used "a box" in a few situations so that we could get a few things done.
What could be better than being stuck in a box of yarn? This was when we were picking out a few keepsakes from grandma's things.
Another work day with Daddy. Daddy is busy laying tile in the kitchen while Mommy is trying to do some painting.
Outside with Daddy while he puts his work stuff away. I know this "box" technique will be short lived as Taylor is quickly learning to climb. And when you're getting mobile, who wants to be confined to a box anyway?

Revisiting Grandma

So this is probably a huge no-no in the blogging community.....but I have to revisit an old post about my grandma's funeral. I found some nice pictures of my family that I wanted to post.
Don't worry, no open casket pictures. But I thought my grandma's casket was very pretty.
A picture of my mom and her 4 sisters.
My family minus the Stowell's. So that's 8 more faces missing. But at least we got some of our family members in a picture together!

New Ernest Cabin

For 25+ years, the Ernest family has had a family tradition of spending some of summer vacation at Lake Powell. Well, as the family continues to grow, it has become time to change that tradition into a place that can be enjoyed anytime of the year. A family Cabin! We are so excited to spend a lot of time with our family and make many wonderful memories in the years to come. Just outside of Heber, this cabin rests within such a beautiful and peaceful setting. The guys already have a long list of projects they are excited to tackle! And the gals are busy making this place a second home we all can retreat to.

Ever heard of muttin bustin? This is taking it to the next level!

My Birthday Hike

On my Birthday, Levi, Taylor, Avery and I drove to the top of Millcreek Canyon and hiked up to Dog Lake. It was a beautiful morning. We took the shorter and steeper trail up. Poor Levi toting Taylor up that trail! She is getting heavy! It may have been a little long of a hike as Taylor lost it as we started down and I got to hold her. It was a nice change of pace though to breathe in the crisp clean mountain air and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

That evening, Levi and I had a much needed and long overdue date night! Steph and Clair took care of little "T" while we went to Z'Tejas and then to a movie. It was a rejuvenating night for us, free from baby distractions. Thanks a bunch Steph and Clair! Here are a few picts from our morning hike:

Oh, and I'd like to give a shout out to Rob on his Birthday today! Happy Birthday little brother. Hope it's a great one!

Grandma Afton

I just wanted to recognize my grandma, Afton Peterson who passed away recently. I enjoyed spending time with my grandma every week for a couple of years. We would go grocery shopping together when she was still mobile. I had her weekly grocery list memorized, and probably still do:

Donuts with chocolate icing
A small bunch of bananas
Sometimes 3-4 carrots)
Sometimes a cantaloupe or fruit mixture
A&W Rootbeer
Mini Twix or Milky Way candybars (for the grandkids, of course)
Honey Nut Cheerios and Frosted Mini Wheats
French bread
Orange Juice
Cheetos
Canned peaches in light syrup

That's all I can remember. As you can see, I had to try and sneak a few more veggies into her cart at times. No matter what, we'd always get home from the store, put the groceries away and she'd say, "Now, what am I going to eat?"

I love my grandma very much and am grateful that my little Taylor got the chance to meet her and receive a beautful white baby afghan that she made. I hope she is happy being out of this earthly body and being with my grandpa once again. We will miss you very much!

Our trip to Island Park!

We went to Island Park in the middle of August with Levi's family. It was such a great trip! We were able to stay at Alisha's friends family cabin. I took so many pictures that I had to do a slideshow to show off my favorites!
