Obviously, I haven't been using this blog. But anyway...going forward, all posts related to our family will be found at The Moseleys blog.

new paint for the playroom
For the last couple weeks I have been (slowly) working on painting our playroom. It's about the only place in the house that wasn't touched before we moved in. Well, we did put in new carpet and a new light, but that's about it. Here are a couple pictures from right after we moved in the house:

And here is a small picture showing the red curtains that were put up eventually.

I plan to get the curtains back up eventually (though maybe reworked a bit), and we hope to replace that fake brick panel (on the left in the picture). In the meantime, here are a couple of pictures after the painting:

I wish I could say that I'm done, but all the white still needs a second coat. This will have to do for a bit, though. I'm done for a while.

a dress
I've been wanting to make the girls some dress (inexpensively). Unfortunately, it hasn't been top priority lately. I did, however, get one made for Caroline. It's made out of a men's dress shirt that I picked up at Goodwill. It could use some tweaking (the underarms are a little odd), but I think it turned out pretty well. And Caroline really likes it, so that's really what matters most.

I just couldn't resist putting up the picture with the funny face. It's much more interesting than the "normal" face in the other picture. :) And please ignore the fact that she's sticking her belly out. Kids...

things made (mostly)
I haven't taken much time to sew lately, but here are a few things that I haven't posted:
This shopping cart cover was made from a pattern I bought on etsy. I made some slight changes, but not much. It has worked well for us both for shopping carts and for highchairs (especially those weird shaped ones at fast food places). Here is a link to the pattern.

I had some money to buy fabric and I decided to buy some things that I've seen and wanted but have no plan for specifically. Well, the black and white one has a plan of sorts...it's to be part of a quilt that I have fabric for but no design yet. :)

This one isn't sewing, but there is fabric in it. This was a present for my mom for her birthday. It has pictures and handprints of all her grandkids.

And this is Aunt Lisa's birthday present (well, there was one non-handmade piece). I had run across the idea at a blog called Trey and Lucy. They're not quite as modern looking as I would prefer generally, but they sure are practical...especially if you have kids around...and Aunt Lisa will have to deal with that soon enough. :) PS: They're towels to hang on the oven handle.

And finally...Sara has her own hooded towel. It took me a while to find some striped towels that I liked. I wanted hers to be similar to Nathan and Caroline's towels. She had long outgrown anything else we had with a hood on it. Now she can be all cozy in her own soft hooded towel.
