Two Months Tomorrow

Two months tomorrow, it's gone by fast. These are courtesy of Caroline Clark, www.stilllightphotography.com

It was a really, really, really (x3) great day. I couldn't feel happier about it all, and everything since.

Kentucky

We went on our honeymoon to Costa Rica AND Kentucky, but I just feel like posting about Kentucky today! Here are lots of pictures-

We visited lots of people Dennis knows in Kentucky, that was one of the best parts, getting to know these great people. This is Melinda, she was Dennis' coworker while he was in law school. I ordered something called a 'Hot Brown', sort of a staple in Kentucky, which was basically a mound of melted cheese and gravy. Yeah, it was delicious. :)

Dennis graces the halls of University of Kentucky with his graduating class-

The Dixie Bell! We went to Shaker Town and rode this riverboat with the over-60 set. We met a preacher's wife who took some good photos of us. But I took this one. I love this photo of Dennis-

Another person we met up with, Kristy! She was fun to talk to-

I had a great time meeting Terry. Terry is one of Dennis' relatives. We went across the street in this small town where he has lived all his life to a diner for lunch and spent an hour and a half talking. He tells great stories. The diner we ate at had a home-baked pineapple turnover cake for dessert and a surly waitress. Definitely worth the stop-

More of Dennis' extended family, what were originally The Englands, though now they've branched out and gotten married and added people. Jerry and Sheryl hosted us for a night and cooked a good meal. We had the women in one room, the men in the other for dinner. THAT of course made conversation free-flowing at the women's table. :) Dennis recorded some video of everyone that night at dinner-

One of our favorites-

Me at the Keeneland horse races. I've spent a large portion of my life wanting to see a horse race, and Kentucky is the place to do it. It was so fun! The horses are really beautiful, and it was a slightly-rainy day in the middle of the week when we picked up Dennis' friend Devin and went over, so I got a front row standing spot. Dennis and I picked horses, his came in third, mine came in fourth-

Neighbors and Tomatoes

I'm settling into our house now, which means Dennis gave me liberty to do things like paint the downstairs room and pull weeds out of the driveway. I was doing that, pulling the weeds, the other day when my neighbor to the west wandered over. He had gray hair, a pot belly, and overalls on, and was smoking a cigarette.

He came up and I said "Hi, just pulling some weeds." He grunted, looked across the street and said that the neighbor there sometimes comes and sprays our driveway with weed killer, and that was probably the way to go. He then grunted again and offered me tomatoes from the giant plant in the front of their house. Then as I said "my name is Sarah, by the way", he simply turned and went back in his house. I'm not sure the proper exchange of names was completed, but it's begun! He lives there with his brother, and one of them has just put up a new stained-glass creation in the side window facing our house featuring a bubble-blowing fish. Let's just call it... lively.

Next his brother came out. Same description, except wearing jean-short cutoffs. I said "Good morning", to which he replied... nothing. He ambled over to the side of the house, stared at the afore-mentioned stained glass window, then turned and walked back into the house. This may just be optimistic thinking, but I think we are now friends. I can't wait to take them cookies at Christmas time. I'm thinking fish-shaped. Until then, it's my mission to accomplish the exchanging of names. Let the games begin.
