I read some really great books in 2009. My love for reading has definitely been reignited, and I'm so enjoying it! Here are some books I read this year that have made it to my all time favorite book list!

The journal of Elizabeth Prentiss, began in 1831 when she was 16 and completed 2 weeks before her death. I was greatly inspired by the way she lived out of the love of God. Once she understood that truth, her whole life changed. I also really enjoyed seeing the work of God over the course of one person's life. I was reminded that God is changing me and maturing me, even though I can't see it. I was surprised how many of her issues were the same as mine! Lots of great quotes and points made in this book. Definitely ministered to me!
This book has literally changed my life. How many books can you honestly say that about? Easy to read, very personal and practical. Reading this book has changed my prayer life for the better, and made me really WANT to pray!
If you haven't already, you have to read this book! An autobiography of two men-a wealthy white art dealer and a black homeless man. When their worlds come together everything changes for them. This book showed me the power of prayer, the power of love, and the closeness and realness of God. This is one of those books where you're laughing out loud one minute and crying the next!

A New Year’s Prayer from The Valley of Vision :
O Lord,
Length of days does not profit me except the days are passed in thy presence, in thy service, to thy glory.
Give me a grace that precedes, follows, guides, sustains, sanctifies, aids every hour,
that I may not be one moment apart from thee,
but may rely on thy Spirit,
to supply every thought,
speak in every word,
direct every step,
prosper every work,
build up every mote of faith,
and give me a desire
to show forth thy praise,
testify thy love,
advance thy kingdom.
I launch my bark on the unknown waters of this year,
with thee, O Father, as my harbour,
thee, O Son, at my helm,
thee O Holy Spirit, filling my sails.
Guide me to heaven with my loins girt,
my lamp burning,
my ear open to thy calls,
my heart full of love,
my soul free.
Give me grace to sanctify me,
thy comforts to cheer,
thy wisdom to watch,
thy right hand to guide,
thy counsel to instruct,
thy law to judge,
thy presence to stabilize.
May thy fear be my awe,
thy triumphs my joy.

Funny things...
Funny things from Ava...
As I was rushing to get out the door one day and putting her shoes on,
Ava: Mommy, are you happy?
Me: Yes, honey. I'm happy.
Ava: Then smile!
I smile : )
Ava: Now keep doing that.
Tonight at dinner after talking about the new car seat Ava got,
Ava: Hey guys, do you love me?
Jon and me: Of course! We love you so much!
Ava: I thought you didn't.
Me: Are you serious?
Ava (with a smile on her face): No
She's always making us laugh!
And from Abigail-
While watching It's a Wonderful Life with Jon, after the scene where George and Mary get married:
Abigail: Daddy, how do you even get a boyfriend? I mean, there are so many boys to choose from!
