Eli is enthralled with the "berry bootiful fwowers" that grow all over our front yard. He loves to pick them in all of their yellow glory, and give them to his two favorite ladies. Chloe and I love receiving them, but often get a little stressed out by Eli's demands that we keep them, no matter what. When the flowers turn white and fluffy, Eli combs the yard for the perfect one to blow and destroy. If the bloom (is it still a bloom, really?) is not a perfect circle, he will have none of it. He's not happy until he finds one with every little seed still intact.
The other day, Chloe decided to share her newfound knowledge of
dandelion wishes with her very best friend, Eli. Eli had just found the perfect flower, and was ready to send it's fluffs flying.
Eli: Puffing up his cheeks, just about to blow his flower, when
Chloe: (Screams) "Wait! Don't blow it! Make a wish first, Eli!"
Eli: pauses and looks around to Chlo. He is clearly annoyed,"Why?"
Chloe: "Because you're supposed to make a wish before you blow it!"
Eli: "Don't want to." Begins to puff cheeks again.
Chloe: "Eli! NO! YOU HAVE TO MAKE A WISH!" Begins to panic. Tears well up in her eyes.
Eli: "DON'T WANT TO!"
Chloe: "MAKE. A. WISH!... (turns on tattletale voice) Mommy... Eli won't make a wi-ish!"
Mommy: "Chloe, Eli doesn't have to make a wish if he doesn't want to...."
Chloe: (Whimpering)"But, but, you're
supposed to make a wish.."
Eli: (Loud and exasperated) "I
wish I could blow out this flower!"
