Let's Pretend

Eli is in a pretending phase.  Yesterday morning he ran out of his room holding Elephant high above his head yelling, "It's Happy Birthday Elephant! It Elephant Birthday!" So we all sang Happy Birthday to Elephant at breakfast, and afterward Eli informed me all day that Elephant was two now because it's his birthday.

A Baller to Be

Eli wants to be big so badly. This was shot at Melissa's birthday party where he spent the entire time either kicking balls, chasing balls, being lifted up by his very tall uncle to dunk balls, or standing still while holding balls and gazing longingly at the big boys. The real ballers. The boy is ball crazy.  So much so that every time we go to the park, we have to leave in tears because I won't let him go out onto the baseball field with the little league team. (I know, I'm horribly mean.)  The boy LOVES sports. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for him. At this point, I think it's pretty clear that I am destined to be a minivan driving soccer mom. (And basketball mom. And baseball mom. And if he has his way, football mom.) Just look for the telltale ball-shaped magnets to start popping up all over the back of my van. Maybe one will even show up on my conveniently round gas door because that would be very creative and original.

NC Aquarium

Eli had so much fun at the Aquarium. He was so cute when we first got there, running from tank to tank, completely unable to slow down long enough to look, and with no hope of containing his excitement. After a little while, he was able to focus on each animal, and made sure Elephant got to see, too. Right before snapping this picture he yelled, "Look Mommy! Elephant's looking!"

The whole day went amazingly well. In the car after the ferry ride, he even yelled to the front seat (completely unprompted), "Thank you for the boat!" which was followed by Chloe's, "Thank you for the fish, too!"
It was a day of great memories.
