Party On

I haven't had a chance to write about Eli's birthday party yet, but it really was one of the best kid parties I've ever attended. Everyone loved going to the firehouse, boys and girls alike. The firefighters were AWESOME with children, and really seemed to enjoy having their Saturday morning hang out time invaded by a mob of half-pints. The kids were treated to an incredibly entertaining safety schpeel, a tour of the bay and the Emergency Rescue vehicle stored inside, a chance to try to pick up the Jaws of Life, and a turn sitting inside the firetruck. They had just finished setting up the firehose for the kids to spray a tree out back when the real fire alarm rang and our heroes had to spring into action. Our party was cut a bit short, but pizza and cupcakes awaited. A shout must go out to Little Ceasars ($5 large one topping, all the time) for getting 8 pizzas ready for me in SEVEN minutes when I entered in a panic because I had 15 kids and too much time on my hands. So we went to the park and the kids played until the pizza and cupcakes came. Oh, and the kids were all awarded fire hats and goody bags by the fire dept. in lieu of the usual birthday novelties bought by the parent. The party was free except the pizza and cupcakes, and the kids had a blast. I highly recommend a firehouse birthday party to anyone with a young child who is into such stuff. I got more compliments on the awesome-ness of the party, than I ever dreamed of getting from a 2yo birthday party.  In fact, I think the dads had as much fun as the toddlers.  If you haven't seen the party pics yet, check out the album on flickr!

Baby Bye, Bye, Bye

The paci's gone, he threw it in the trash (!!!!!) So we went to the giraffe store, and took a little cash.  The reward? Bob the Builder. And a remote control Scoop.  Now that the paci battle's over, it's on to pee and poop.  Of course, there's still some addiction- a water cup at night.  One day we'll have to take that, too, but I can't imagine much of a fight.  I was scared to death of night one, it left me feeling queasy.  But, night two was a little better, and night three, easy-peasey!  I can't believe he's not a baby, and I was surprisingly really sad.  The tears in his brave little eyes mirrored mine as the paci hit the bottom of the bag.
